Big Sean “Dark Sky Paradise” First Week Sales Projections

With various reviews of the album touting it as his best work to date, early first week sales projections for Big Sean’s Dark Sky Paradise suggest the project is going to be the Detroit lyricist’s most successful opening commercially.

The G.O.O.D. Music emcee is slated to sell between 120,000 and 130,000 copies of Dark Sky Paradise in its first week in stores, according to Hits Daily Double. The site also reports that the project is estimated to do between 140,000 and 150,000 in sales plus streams.

This will mark Big Sean’s biggest first week sales to date. His 2011 effort Finally Famous sold 87,000 copies within the first seven days of its release while 2013’s Hall Of Fame moved 72,000 units.

Big Sean’s latest effort earned a 4 out of 5 rating from HipHopDX. Here’s what writer Eric Diep had to say about the project:

“It’s on his third studio album, Dark Sky Paradise, that listeners are seeing a fully formed emcee ready to seize the spotlight.”

    1. Bullshit. His first album only sold 80k OW and his second album did even worse. Either Big Sean is buying albums to prop up sales or the projected sales figures are wrong.

      1. so because his last album sold 50k his new one cant do better? he had a pretty big single. some artists actually gain fans as time goes on…

      2. That’s different. J Cole’s album sales kept rising while sean’s fell and rose. That increase was suspect. Both artists are pop.

      3. How are J Cole and Big Sean pop when they don’t even make pop music? They’re both hip-hop artists making hip-hop music. There’s nithing suspect about Big Sean’s increased sales especially when he has a huge hit.

      4. How are their music not hip-hop? Both Cole and Sean are rappers who are rapping over hip-hop beats. That’s hip-hop, just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not. Again, Big Sean had a big hit single, which is why his sales have increased. There’s your answer.

      5. At least tyga and chris brown’s album is flopping. Fools thinking they were going to get rick ross when he refuses to do business with anyone that disrespect birdman.

      6. And then tyga, being the disloyal bitch he is, instead suggested working with 50 even though Ross ended that fool’s career. As for the wale and fat trel songs, they were recorded before tyga dissed baby.

      7. You’re a moron, aren’t you? 1. Ross will work with anyone. 2. Tyga wasn’t disloyal. 3. Ross did niot end 50 Cent’s career. 4. That last sentence, along with everything else you said, is all a lie.

    2. Glad to see tyga flopping despite chris brown helping him out. Simple, he disrespected Cash Money’s culture, consequences follow.

    3. 3 OF THE FIRST 5 POSTS HAVE THE WORDS “BIG SEAN” IN IT. REALLY DX? YET ANOTHER REASON WHY HHDX WILL FOREVER SUCK DICK. WORST SITE EVER I JUST COME HERE TO LAUGH AT IT

    4. Big Sean for that co-sign from the Ariana bitch so all the lil bitches that actually buy albums are hip to this nigga and plus he got some hot singles in rotation.

      1. You have the right answer of today. Which proves my point he appeals to the pop generation, especially when he’s dating a wack pop star.
