B.G. has relived his past prison experience, offering unfiltered insights in his newly released music video for “Really Understand.”
Dropped on YouTube on Friday (February 16), the video opens with the former Hot Boys rapper seated in an interrogation room, before seamlessly transitioning to him confined within the stark confines of a prison cell.

Throughout the video, B.G. navigates a rollercoaster of emotions, captured in scenes portraying moments of visitation, unanswered phone calls, and a raw display of vulnerability as he turns to prayer.
“If you done been to jail before, you really understand/ How hard that time be when no one there to hold your hand/ You hear from the streets that your bitch got a new man/ Can’t wait to get released so you can go ’round up that bag/ I walked out my sentence and watching my mama tears/ When growing up this was one of the things she once feared,” he spits on the opener.

In 2012, B.G. was sentenced to 14 years behind bars after pleading guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice stemming from a 2009 traffic stop arrest.
In September last year, U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan rejected a motion submitted by another federal prisoner, requesting to have his 14-year sentence commuted.

After months of rumors swirling about the potential for early release, which began in late 2022, the Louisiana native took to Instagram to let his fans know that he’d be home soon.
“After 12 winters and 13 summers, I see the end zone,” he wrote. “It’s my last #Birthday being buried alive. This year I’m celebrating the whole Virgo cycle, matter of fact, from this year forward I’m living and celebrating like everyday is #MyBIRTHDAY.”

According to TMZ, as part of his release conditions, B.G. will undergo two years of supervision, including participation in drug/alcohol programs and life skills improvement courses.
He is also mandated to complete 400 hours of community service, comply with DNA collection, and refrain from possessing firearms. In addition to continuing his rap career, he must obtain his G.E.D. or equivalent for future job opportunities.

During a Zoom call in mid-October, the two chatted with DJ Tony Neal, who mentioned in the comments section of a Hip Hop Wolf repost of the interview that he’s “working with both of them.”

On the call, B.G. expressed gratitude to his friend and collaborator, revealing, “We got a[n] album coming together… I just wanted to come through, give him a shout out, man, let him know I appreciate everything he did for me while I was down, y’know what I’m sayin?
“Dude wrapped his arm around me like a real G supposed to, man, y’know what I’m sayin? That’s my brother, man.”
