Azealia Banks became angered when a flight attendant prevented her from leaving an airplane with her baggage today (September 22), according to TMZ.
A passenger sitting next to the rapper on the flight, which was traveling from New York to Los Angeles, spoke to TMZ following the incident to highlight what had happened.
“A passenger sitting next to Banks tells TMZ, when the Delta flight landed just before 1:00 AM Tuesday, Azealia made a beeline for the front door,” the publication’s article reads. “She had been sitting in seat 6A but a French couple in the 3rd row was blocking her exit as they pulled their luggage from the overhead bin.
“The eyewitness says Azealia tried to squeeze by the couple when the French man put his hand out,” the article continues. “Azealia, we’re told, went nuts. The eyewitness says she spit in the man’s face, punched him in the face and clawed at his shirt.”
Following the alleged incident, a flight attendant intervened, reportedly telling Banks to calm down and taking hold of her baggage. Banks and the flight attendant then engaged in a tug of war over her luggage and filming of the incident ensued.
The flight’s co-pilot then emerged, again attempting to calm Banks down. TMZ reports that the co-pilot informed Banks that the police had been called. She later called the flight attendant a “fucking faggot” and exited the plane, dropping her phone in the process.
Azealia Banks claims that the French man struck her around the face, but the eyewitness disputes this accusation, insisting all he did was put his hand up for protection.
“I don’t tolerate bitchassness,” Banks said, per TMZ, “and I don’t tolerate men putting their hands on me.”
A representative for Delta Air Lines has since issued a statement to TMZ regarding the incident.
“We are aware of the situation and are looking into it.”
Azealia Banks has taken to Twitter to respond to the incident, as well as address the homophobic slur she said to the flight attendant.
