Pop Smoke was headed to Hollywood before his untimely passing.
On Friday (June 26), a clip of the late rapper’s audition tape for a film named Boogie surfaced on social media. Pop flawlessly stays in character the whole time in the video, at one point even tussling with his co-star.
In a February Power 105 interview with Angie Martinez just weeks before his murder, the Brooklyn native revealed he actually secured the role in the film, which is written and directed by Eddie Huang.
“They got me playing some basketball player,” Pop told Angie. “I got some lines. It’s a nice role. I got a nice check too … I’m going to fuck with the acting.”
The late rapper was also working on his debut album at the time of his death, which his team has moved forward with posthumously releasing. Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon is set to drop July 3 and features Rowdy Rebel on the previously-released “Make It Rain.”
A fan recently commented 50 Cent on Instagram to ask whether Eminem would appear on Pop’s album, as 50 had taken over the reigns on the posthumous effort in light of Pop’s passing. In his response to the fan, Fif implied an entire second album of unreleased material from the “Shake The Room” rapper may drop and Em could very well be on it.
“Part 2 maybe,” he replied. “I have to call him.”
Good thing he got popped and smoked before the jooish hollywood managed to exploit him and torment the audience with his shitty acting skills then.
U dumb stupid pest retarded nameless prick go 2 hell!!
Shut up bitch
I’m not gonna lie, I never heard of this dude before he died. And I’m from NY.
You may not have heard of him, but i bet you heard his jam welcome to the party, that. Song played all over Ny, it,s one of the baddest jams i,ve heard in a while, listen to it , on second thought i know by now you,ve heard it.
Stormcloak, you just really probably don’t follow current hip-hop then. I live in the South and I kept telling myself to make sure I check him out because I kept hearing his name. About 3 different artists had brought his name up on the Breakfast Club as the person who had the city on lock at the time as far as the streets are concerned. When I heard he got killed it hit me like “Damn, I kept saying I need to go check his music out.” He definitely had a buzz.
I follow current hip hop. But I don’t consider the breakfast club hip hop. That’s pop/gossip radio, posing as hiphop. I don’t bury my head in the sand when it comes to music. I mean, maybe I’ve heard his song a hundred times in cars next to me on the street, but to be honest a lot of that trippety trappy stuff sounds the same to me, so it wouldn’t catch my attention.
Eddie Huang is a fuck boy
