Up NeXt By DX: Jin Gates

Former HipHopDX Features Editor Andre Grant said in his “Defense Of The Struggle Rapper” editorial, “Out of all the things the Hip Hop web has vilified, the “struggle rapper” might be the least deserving of all that ridicule.” Before Kendrick Lamar became big enough for Barack Obama to sing his praises or Drake found himself making deals with Apple, they were artists without a significantly large fanbase attempting what seemed like the impossible. Hitting the top of the charts became a distant goal to making past one hundred streams of a song possibly made within the confines of their bedroom walls and gaining likes, re-post or anything else that would reach someone. Providing a weekly outlet for those getting their feet wet in the sometimes brutal sport of Hip Hop, allow us to give readers a look into tomorrow’s possibilities through “Up NeXt.”

26-Year-Old Hopes To Become The Asian Jay Z

    Inspiration For Career

“At first, I was always behind the scenes helping people. I must say people will never respect your money like you will. My brother(Noi) and I decided to invest in my music career since I became successful with my jewelry and clothing line business. I want to take my music career to another level that no Asian artist has done. I have a big story to tell and soon enough I will tell the story to the world.”

Do you believe you have a shot at stardom?

“Absolutely anything I put my 1,000 percent into it. Look at me where I am at now, I am blessed to
be where I am and overcome my obstacles. Keen to succeed.”

    Project(s)

I have so much on my plate. I just dropped 2 videos on my YouTube channel which is under
Cash On Delivery. Both those songs is on iTunes “Ask About Me” and “My Girl.”

    1. beat is hot….the verses are average….and his voice is impossible to listen to….dude sound like a snotty 12 year old. pass.

    2. Took a Subpar rappers first name, and a dope rappers last name, stole the voice box of Jay-Z when he was 11-12years old, sampled a classic, jacked Desiigners Rhyme Book. Yeah, you’re a copy of a copy of a clone.

        1. Cash on deck niggas don’t just come from Alask@ nigga we catching all and any ivory like my konek from Nigeri@. .. fuck pet@

    3. Luckily asians alrdy got Nujabes. One of the goat producers. No need for this atrocious exhibition.

    4. Remember Jin, the “Learn Chinese” rapper who was signed to Ruff Ryders? I was just watching his old battles the other day.. He was dope. However his shit didn’t sell, got dropped from the label, got baptised and became a devout christian or some shit.. I think it’s cheap that this “Jin Gates” is trying to ride his wave

      1. Jin went on to having a career in Hong kong, appearing in tv series, hosting shows, doing albums there. Hes doing alright.

    5. “Jin gates” Is the type that has dreams and will not give up till he reaches his goal in life and i respect that he started from the bottom just like everyone else and is working hard for what he has and what he has coming.
