Hottest Song Of The Year

2. Cardi B — “Bodak Yellow”

Producer: J. White

Hate it or love it, Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” is undeniable. The stripper-turned-reality star-turned-rapper proved she was a formidable artist in 2017 when she released her massive hit single. Whether it was at the club, at a show, on television or even blaring in the subway, folks loved to hear “Bodak Yellow” at all times. That opening line — “Said lil bitch, you can’t fuck with me if you wanted to” — could send crowds into a frenzy and did so many times following the single’s summer arrival. Cardi may never reach such heights again, but 2017 was undoubtedly her year and it’s all thanks to “Bodak Yellow.”

Best Song Of The Year

1. Kendrick Lamar — “Duckworth”

Producer: 9th Wonder, Bekon

Kendrick Lamar has multiple songs deserving of this honor, but none of them are quite like the storytelling masterpiece titled “DUCKWORTH.” The track is one of the most dramatic album endings (if you disregard the backward theory) in Hip Hop history and a jaw-dropping conclusion to DAMN. Hearing the true-life tale of how K. Dot’s father and Top Dawg’s actions could have changed the course of Hip Hop remains riveting with repeated spins, helped by some outstanding production by 9th Wonder. It’s already hard to deny Kung Fu Kenny’s seat atop Hip Hop’s throne and “DUCKWORTH.” makes it even harder.

  1. Untouchable or No Smoke are better Youngboy offerings, Rockstar is too low, Humble is better than Bodak Yellow, Imagine That by Gates shoulda been on the list, Freakin and Geekin by Kap G is missing, Ex Calling by 6lack shoulda made it, Gucci dropped like 3 projects and not one song made it, Rerocc by Peewee and some Dolph shoulda been on here. Come on HHDX, I know you’re better than this.

  2. This list str8 trash. Castle/Arose and Untouchable off Revival smoke 90% of this list. So does basically anything from Bar Exam 4, Dope Lyrics Matter, and Good vs Evil part 2. Smh HHDX… where’s the real hip hop

  3. You guys did an embarrassing horrific job. Hyping up these shit “mc’s” that paint Black Americans in a horrible light. Minstrel shows to a beat. I just puked in my mouth.

  4. Most of this list is pop rap trash. Where is the hip hop list onIy. I don’t want to see terrible rappers on this list. These rappers are slaves to the music industry. I never seen so many gays and girls get credit for non artistic work. Death to the rap years and the corporations.

  5. Magnolia by Playboy Carti is one of the worst tracks of this year. And it’s 11. Kendrick is nice but didn’t deserve you slobbing his album so hard to put every joint up. Post Malone and 21 Savage are dominating the charts with Rockstar and it’s 50. Come on man. And hate on the Em cd all you want but there were a few joints that should have definitely been on the Top 50 charts (and some that deserve the worst 50 as well).

  6. “Duckworth” is dope but “Fear” is so much better. Y’all just riding 9th Wonder’s dick for some odd reason. And putting Cardi B ahead of any Kendrick song is a no-no.

    1. This is the BIGGEST issue! this shit is NOT Hip Hop by any means, it’s a shitty sub genre of Rap and needs it’s own genre and label.

  7. Top 10 Hip Hop albums of 2017:

    Your Old Droog “Packs”
    Nolan the Ninja “YEN”
    Apathy & O.C. “Perestroika”
Kool G Rap “Return of the Don”
MC Eiht “Which Way Iz West”
    Joey Bada$$ “All-Amerikkkan Bada$$”
    Starvin B “Digital Jungle”
    Rapsody “Laila’s Wisdom”
    Slaine & Termanology “Anti-Hero”
Meyhem Lauren & DJ Muggs “Gems From The Equinox”

    1. Cardi will eat all them dudes on your list for breakfast. And I mean she’ll go down the line gobbling dick like she was getting put on the set. Nice list though you need Conway and Uncle Murda and you’re straight

  8. SHIT LIST. This list should be renamed, “Best Beats that made us like the song!” cause this list is straight doodoo. Whoever made this list need to re-evaluate their choice in career.

  9. I know Im getting old…I accept it, but I’ve heard like a handful of the songs on this list and most of them are the Kendrick tracks. My #1 passion growing up has passed me by…wow today is a sad day for me

  10. It’s quite clear that whoever came up with this pathetic list was born after 1995. Hip hop dx you should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this list on your site. This isn’t even laughable. Smh. I think y’all just lost a visitor to your site based on this wackness!!!

    1. Damn right, I looked at that list specially the first and cringed. This site is trash, racist trash at that.

  11. While Duckworth is a good song with quite the story, it’s not a masterpiece. Please, everybody off Kendrick’s nuts. This list needed more 4:44 and less Kodak Black. No songs from I Decided is ridiculous. This is one of the worst lists I’ve seen in a while but alright, I guess I’m not rocking with what the kids like anymore.
