Having two acclaimed albums back-to-back albums in Under Pressure and The Incredible True Story must have Logic feeling like a “rap god.” Experimenting soundwise with “Flexicution,” he’s lending more toward trap for the single as he’s set to hit the road for the “Endless Summer” tour alongside G-Eazy, Yo Gotti and YG. The track produced by frequent collaborator 6ix also features backing vocals from Logic’s wife Jess Andrea. Does Logic Pull Off A Flexicution?
Ural Garrett: Though he hasn’t become a dominating Hip Hop crossover, there’s no doubt that Logic has an undeniably loyal fanbase. Clearly, this makes has to have granted him a new level of confidence. “Flexicution” has Logic sticking his chest out in a way unseen from the Def Jam artist known for being one of the label’s most lyrically underrated emcees. Linking up with 6ix, more known for fan favorites “Gang Related” and “Fade Away,” has elevated his production style for harder drums that is closer to trap. Thankfully, Logic still spits harder than ever as he does a great job demolition the production. Most importantly, “Flexicution” might be the most radio friendly track he’s put out. How far it’ll go? Only time can tell. Right now, he’s definitely heading in the right direction.
Shirley Ju:This track is evident of why Logic belongs in the rap game. Although calling himself the “rap god,” might be a stretch, he truly delivers. Looking like a white boy rapper automatically draws comparison to Eminem, whose bars not many people can top. I think this track does Logic justice. He raps his heart out and spits from the heart. His previous material is no different, as he digs deep into real life issues such as a cigarette addiction (in the track “Nikki”). I’ve always respected him for his transparency and ability to transfer it into his smooth flows. This solidifies it.
