Jim Jones’ Roc Nation Deal Sparks G-Unit Vs. Dipset Twitter Debate

Jim Jones got a little choked up when reliving the glory days of Dipset during a recent interview now that he’s a member of Roc Nation. Twitter eventually got a bit of nostalgic too when a Dipset vs. G-Unit debate hit the top tier of the trending topics.

Both crews hit a nice stride in the early-to-mid 00s and were sturdy pillars in NYC’s fleeting reign in Hip Hop. And they even famously came to lyrical blows when 50 Cent traded diss songs with Cam’ron circa 2007.

But which clique was actually better?

    Pro-Dipset

    Pro-G-G-G-Unit

    Team Neutral

    The Real Winner

    1. But no Boot camp?none? After they beefed with Big, rode with Pac? That sound? Not 1 wack MC? Yall buggin B lol

      1. NY didn’t run 97 to 03 homie the South did . Who sold mor records than No Limit in that time period NOBODY . And from then til now NOBODY sold more records than Cash Money . #Facts 90 to 97 Death Row ran that . #Facts

    2. G unit was way better wit dudes from different areas gave them access to more than one coast unlike dipset who was catering to fans on east coast mostly G unit had that fire

    3. Dipset all the way. G-unit was corny as fuck. Do i still listen to “Beg for Mercy” in 2017? Hell no. But just last night i was (once again) bumpin “Diplomatic immunity” and still think it’s a classic.

    4. Nobody in dipset can touch Lloyd banks, but nobody anywhere near as wack as Tony Yayo. If you count the game in g-unit I’d take g-unit. If we are being strict, dipset made better music.

    5. G Unit was the better side, and it’s not even a close challenge. Dipset is better than Migos n rae sremmurd tho lmao i’d listen to dipset rather than trap bs

    6. G-unit is legendary, dipset did their thing but are nowhere near the level of g-unit and that’s facts! Wutang is the best group ever anyway

    7. I will say this. Each G Unit member on G Unit went Platinum (I’m not sure about Yayo) and had Dr. Dre & Eminem behind them at the start of their career and would have definitely remained so IF The Game didn’t quit so since we count Jim Jones for Dipset and now he hates Cam, we count Game who went Idk how many times platinum

    8. obviously this would be a new york only debate since both culturally start from there with everybody else looking from the outside in but if we gone go there with it imma say both were commercially successful but weak from a straight up hip hop stand point. this should spark debate about wu-tang,bootcamp,gangstarr foundation, D.I.T.C., hit/def squad, juice crew and native tongue being better than both and laying the bricks down for them to be known anyway cause the beef part is wack and just shouldn’t move beyond it’s inception. both not on top now so just wish them well with future success and come together for more instead of separate for less. #makenewyorkhiphopgreatagain and this coming from a nigga from the west coast
