Young Thug has been teasing his forthcoming album Punk for quite some time now, but it seems he’s ready to begin the rollout. Fans were finally treated to some new music when Thugga previewed “Tick Tock” off Punk and announced the October 15 album release date during his set at Rolling Loud Miami this past weekend. Now, Young Thug is back again with even more songs off the project.
On Tuesday (July 27), Young Thug blessed fans with a special performance for NPR’s Tiny Desk (Home) concert series in the middle of the lush gardens of The Houdini Estate in Los Angeles, California. For his rock-inspired set, Thugger teamed up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and rock band Damnage Gooods.
On top of playing “Tick Tock” in full, Young Thug unleashed three new tracks off the upcoming project. Fans got to hear “Die Slow,” “Droppin Jewels,” “Hate The Game” and a guitar-laden version of “Ski” off Slime Language 2.
According to NPR, Young Thug’s Tiny Desk debut is the start of the next chapter in his music career. On this go-around, Thugga is focusing on “authenticity, consciousness and overall purity” on Punk. The album is slated to arrive October 15
During an interview with The Fader in 2019, Young Thug praised Punk and explained how different it sounds compared to his debut studio album, So Much Fun.
“It’s most definitely touching music,” he said about Punk. “It’s music that the world is going to embrace. [Punk] means brave, not self-centered, conscious. Very, very neglected, very misunderstood. Very patient, very authentic.”
He added, “I just want to open up. Let people know that I’m not just a rapper, I’m a human being. Let people know whatever they go through, I done been through or somebody done been through it. Those are the things that make people grow. People that want to commit suicide, you might give them another chance.”

That’s not punk. They didn’t rap over rock beats and start calling it punk. Dummy’s!
This idiot has not a damn clue what any music is. Just says random trash over autotune. Funny he calls this “punk” with the most trash wannabe nu-metal band in the background lol.
So this idiot does a trash cover of Lil Wayne’s trash rock album and names it “punk.” LOL. So pathetic. Hard pass on this one..
Definitely agreed!!!!
please stop and go away
Speaking of rap and punk – Remember when Dee Dee Ramone of Ramones fame did a rap album as “Dee Dee King”? Go watch his music video “Funky Man” for laughs. Consider yourselves educated. I love to spread knowledge on such important things in life. You are welcome, now you know.
I’m I the only one who sees him as always biting every chance he can to act like Wayne in all he does, Now he doing punk rock rap?. The reach is crazy. I heard Tiny desk and truthfully to me it was trash and over compensated as fuck. This doesn’t even flow naturally off him. I’m all for trying new things and reinventing one self while emerging out of ur comfort zone however nothing son does reflects originality. It’s always some saturated energy he sucked off the next individual. The flow and delivery of the lyrics clashed with the drums and it just didn’t cut it for me. I’m a huge punk rock fan!!! Shout out to Green Day?? Just wasn’t his authentic self, it was a carbon copy diluted self.
Cultural appropriation. But he’s black so it’s all good. Smh
