Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 10/06/2013

This week, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2 landed in the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200. The project was followed on the charts by Drake’s Nothing Was The Same at #2 and Lorde’s Pure Heroine at #3.

Lorde, a 16-year-old singer, landed in the third spot thanks to her album’s lead single, “Royals,” a hit that appears to criticize extravagance. Lorde recently spoke with Spotify about the track and how it can relate to her appreciation for A$AP Rocky. “You see, at that time I’d been listening to a lot of Lana Del Rey and a lot of A$AP Rocky because I love Rap, that crazy money and opulence and extravagance,” Lorde said. “But I also know it’s all total bullshit.” During the same interview, Lorde spoke about Kanye West’s influence on her work. “I’d been listening to Kanye West and there’s a track called ‘Dark Fantasy’ where he says, ‘found bravery in my bravado’ and I liked that idea of false confidence delivering real confidence. In reality I’m a super-shy, contained, non-confrontational person, but I was about to step into a line of work – a line of art – where everyone would be watching me, and everyone would want to talk to me and confront me.” This line of work has allowed the young singer to land just behind Drake and Timberlake on this week’s chart, with Pure Heroine selling more than 129,000 units in its first week.

Nelly was another artist who debuted his new album this week. The project, M.O. opened at #14 selling more than 15,000 units. Nelly spoke about the release during a September interview with Complex. “I’m excited that I get a chance to do a seventh album,” Nelly said. “Also, being 14 years later, being able to do a lot of great things in 14 years and represent somewhere that a lot of people don’t get to represent, especially in the music business and definitely in the Hip Hop game.” Nelly’s last project, 2010’s 5.0, sold more than 63,000 units its first week. Nelly, upset with these results, criticized his label at the time, Universal/Motown, for its management of the project, as per stltoday.com. Nelly’s debut album, 2000’s Country Grammar, sold more than 235,000 units in its first week.

Justin Timberlake Lands At #1 With The 20/20 Experience, 2 Of 2

Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2 debuted at #1 in its first week, as projected. The album moved more than 350,000 units. Timberlake has spoken about the creation of this album, a project done with Timbaland producing all of its songs. “We’ve never done it like this,” Timberlake said in an August promo for the album, which is a follow-up to the duo’s last album, The 20/20 Experience, released in March. “We usually take our time and I felt like it would drive the creativity in a different way to have to feel like we had to sprint every day and it would hyper-focus us…If you’re lucky enough to have the ability to wait and do it when it inspires you, you owe it to yourself to do it when it’s the only thing you can think about when you wake up in the morning and at night thinking about it,” he continued. “That sense of desperation, that’s what brings out passion. And really, passion to me is all that matters.” Timberlake’s fans perhaps saw that passion and helped this disc land at the top of the charts. Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience has sold more than 2,310,000 units to date. The album has been out for 29 weeks. It jumped from #37 to #11 this week.

Drake’s Nothing Was The Same Falls To #2 In Its Second Week

In its second week, Drake’s Nothing Was The Same landed at #2. The project, which debuted at #1 last week, sold more than 147,000 copies to earn its place just below Timberlake’s 2 of 2. Drake’s album, which received a 4 out of 5 rating in HipHopDX, is the follow-up to 2011’s Take Care, which opened with 631,000 units in its first week. Drake is also a guest on the #1 album of the week, Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, 2 of 2. Drake appears on Timberlake’s “Cabaret.” In August, Timberlake talked about having Drake as a guest on his album during an interview with New York radio station Hot 97. “The Drake thing was a song that was sitting around and I just heard him on it,” Timberlake said. “Drake and I have been trying to get at each other about doing a record. I think we’ll probably end up doing more as time goes by as well.” Drake’s Nothing Was The Same now has more than 806,000 units moved to date.

Deltron 3030’s Event 2 Enters The Top 41

Deltron 3030’s Event 2 entered the charts this week at #41, selling more than 8,000 copies in its first week. After 13 years, Deltron 3030 followed up on its self-titled debut. The group, which consists of Del the Funky HomosapienDan the Automator and Kid Koala premiered the project online in September, allowing listeners to stream the project in its entirety. The disc, released via Bulk Recordings, features several guests, including Black Rob, Rage Against the Machine’s Zach De La Rocha and actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

    1. By ignorant troll standards, JT is the best artist in all of Hip Hop right now, just look at those “Sales”.

    2. Looks like its gonna take Drake a month to go platinum. All his fan boys said he was gonna do it first week!!!

    3. I bet drake don’t even make it to double platinum. These numbers are funny, only ymcmb dudes have big opening week, but still don’t reach at least double platinum

    4. damn, aint nobody fucking with the nelly mo joint? not even the st lunatics?! To me if u a major artist and u only pushin 15k, fuhgidabowdit!!Either put the shit out independent or do something else like come out with a headphone or some shit.lol and oh yeah that Pusha T album shits all over Drake album.

      1. old bitter ass pusha t ain’t shitting on nobody. drake has more talent in his pinky than pusha has in his dying career.

      1. How is she a hip-hop basher when she admits being a hip-hop fan? The only thing she bashed is the mainstream hip-hop world’s silly fetish for materialistic things and fantasy lifestyles.

    5. I thought Drake dating Manziel would boost his sales through the roof but he seems to have slipped a little.

      1. drake and manziel aren’t dating stupid. you think any two guys that are friends are automatically some gay couple. you sound insecure.

    6. jeez the fact jt released one album this year and first week sold nearly 1 mill…few good months later he drops another album selling still very well…people love that nigga

    7. Lorde is dope as hell! I’m not ashamed to say that at all. btw I’m black and a hiphop head but I just love good music !!.

      1. good music….cooool…but Hip Hop??? come on son! that hip pop…that shyte don’t belong in this genre

    8. Only one on there I bought was Kendrick’s wouldn’t even bother downloading the rest for free.

Listened to jay z album few times shit was lyrically weak he fell off after American gangster

    9. Its been a down year for African-American artists in regards to album sales, French, Big Sean, 2-Chainz, Ace Hood, & a juicy j all had buzzin singles and still did less than 75K first week sales.

Even former powerhouse artist like Snoop & Nelly found it difficult to put up numbers.

Compilations which normally sell less than solo projects from MMG & YMCMB didn’t make much noise this year without a strong lead single and isn’t do much more than showcase their up & coming and lesser known artists.

The whites mullattos and hipsters have officially taken over in regards to sales, why am I looking at Justin Timberlake on a chart for HipHop albums?

The Emo/Euro/Homo era is here folks, Tyler is going to outsell Talib, and A$AP is gonna outsell AceHood, and Mckelmore will outsell them both.

Jayz & Kanye still have selling power but the organic music they once made has been replaced with a hybridized euro version that their core fans weren’t feeling too much….old guy artsy raps.

On the bright side album sales won’t make you or break you because the bulk of your money comes from shows and touring so bruthas ain’t gonna starve but it means that labels are not going to be signing more Meeks when the can sign moreMac Millers.

      1. Those are some significantly good points there. As long as there’s venues out there to promote albums and keep the artist’s pockets alive and well, there’s no way they can starve.

      2. @Jun

I’m on to the truth, I predicted this last year (@BruthaDee).

The biggest artist in HipHop right now arguably is a Canadian Mullatto, the biggest female artist undisputedly is a Trinidadian mullatto. When Emenim drops his next album he will be the biggest artist.

Since 2006 there were no new Platinum artists untill 2010 when Drake broke the spell, since 2006 there have been only 3 other Platinum artist (Nicki, Mcelmore, Kendrick) and the only one that’s African American is Kendrick. That’s the direction of HipHop.

The last time a street artist wentnPlatinum according to the RIAA database was in 2006 when Young Jeezy did it.

6 of the Top 10 best selling HipHop singles this year are either have whites, Drake or non African-Americans on them. This is the shift in HipHop.

Even Kendrick had to use white female Pop singers on his album to go Platinum which is becoming the new trend in a genre where in the past a white woman couldn’t get near a HipHop album, now it’s becoming the norm.

The last 17 best selling HipHop albums were either by white artists or had a white artist featured on the album i could add Drake to that list considering his album was executive produced by whites and he’s not an African American and half white hinself.

Labels think you can’t sell without catering to the white demographic and maybe they are right, but the last 20 albums that had the best first week sales the last two years that didn’t have a white artist featured were GFID, D&N & The Gifted.

All the kilt wearing, skateboarding, cross-dressing, bi-racial & bi-sexual artists using cross-marketing gimmicks to sell nowadays and it’s working.

      3. “Since 2006 there were no new Platinum artists untill 2010 when Drake broke the spell, since 2006 there have been only 3 other Platinum artist (Nicki, Mcelmore, Kendrick) and the only one that’s African American is Kendrick. That’s the direction of HipHop.”

STOP SPREADING LIES BITCH!!!!! KEEP TRYING TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER ABOUT ROSS NOT GOING PLAT

SOULJA BOY WENT PLATINUM in 2007!!! LOOK IT UP BITCH!!!!!!!!

      4. I heard Rick Ross is building an arch!!! He’s gonna take all us brothers and sisters back to Africa to get away from these dirty white slave masters!

      5. Thanks for your comment, it was interesting. One thing you didn’t factor in was the whole “free mixtape” thing. If I can go to a mixtape site that gives you the hits why would I shell out at least $10 to buy an album, unless I am a loyal fan. Just a thought.

      6. ross’s first album might have finally went platinum after 7 years…and lady gaga only made mention of kendrick and gave a cosign she was not on the album and her remix to bitch dont kill my vibe didnt help him move more units so dead that white pop singer bullshit

      7. he thinks because anna wise, white female sang some backup vocals on kendricks album that his success is somehow not as legit as it would have been if he kept it all black!!! LMAO

Like Rick Ross dont got whites engineering and masters all his shit.

      8. According to the RIAA the rapper Soulja Boy has a 3X platinum single but he never received a platinum certification for an album which was my point in my initial post.

His Wikipedia page says his 2007 album maxed out at 950K short of the million needed to acquire Platinum certification but for arguements sake If his album were the last from new artists ro be certified from 2007-2010 then it’s a sad fact that bolsters my initial observation.

As far as Ross not going Platinum in an era where only 4 new artists have gone platinum in the last 7-8 years isn’t something ro be ashamed of and I’d say he’s the model for entrepanurial hustle because he’s been on the Forbes list as a CEO with multi-millions without ever having to go platinum.

Free mixtapes have crippled sales due to the high quality of the free music in some cases but it’s a necessary evil in a HipHop for artists who want to be discovered and artists who tour and eat off of their mixtapes. As a matter of fact ai have encountered a few mixtapes that were better than the artists albums because the mixtapes were unfiltered without the label influence begging for radio friendly songs and cross marketing songs ro help sell more retail units.

Kendrick Lamar didn’t need his Interscope label mate Lady GaGa too much but it darn sure helps along with the Midas Touch of the Dr Dre co-sign which has worked magic on artists like Eazy, Cube, Emenim, 50Cent and Game, all huge Platinum selling artists.

Kendrick and his team used the white PoP chick Anna Wise featured on at least two of the albums songs “Money Trees” and “I’m Real” with JMSN overseeing the albums feel and vibration.

Anna Wise was clearly featured on the songs and provided the hooks but Interscope didn’t package the album with her being listed as a feature because it would have taken away from the theme of the album which was a throwback Boyz N the hood tale.

It’s shrewd marketing on the part of Interscope but you can’t deny the elements that are included into an album to make the music appeal to your target demograohics. Artists like 2-Chainz and Juicy J have recently tried this gimmick to lesser effect.

      9. Your mother and your father are both bitches and they gave birth to a bitch.

Nicki was born in Trinidad and she’s half-Indian.

No pinky, a Dr Dre cosign is what Snoop got, it’s what Emenim got, its not a verse/track it’s an executive production credit in the back of your album. When Dre is behind the sound of your album it’s difficult to not kill em because Dre makes hits.

    10. LMFAO!!!! JT flopped this time. With no hit singles from the album, plus with Jay Z using his funds meant to prop up 20/20 Experience part 2/2 to prop up sales for his own album, no wonder why this album flopped. He couldn’t even beat Drake’s opening sales. Proves he’s running pop in addition to hiphop and R&B.

      1. he just dropped the first album 6 months ago troll…did you really expect him to do more than 500k first week twice in a year?

      2. Jay Z bought 600k copies of experience part 1. That’s why it went platinum quickly. He ain’t doing that this time. This may go platinum with holiday sales but Drake is going to go 2x platinum at least.

    11. I visited hits daily double and they said MO actually sold 160k copies first week. Though not as high as before, its still a solid sales tally.

    12. Drake’s album is the fastest album to go platinum…after Jay Z, and that Macklemore duet, and Mr. Kendrick Lamar….at least that I know of. good sign for mr. emotional Drizake..

      1. Im not sure if you’re talking about all time or this year. Either case you’re wrong. JT’s album earlier this year had the bigger opening week of this year while of all time, N Sync (with JT) is the fastest album to go 2x platinum with their no strings attached..

      2. The thing about Drake that you can’t ignore is the fact that his albums are also huge sellers outside of the US in markets like the UK and markets like Canada.

Who would have ever predicted that a former child actor from Canada would become the face of American HipHop!

      3. drake sells more than all y’all favorite rappers combined. drake ain’t worried about some drop in sales. he’s still getting that platinum plaque.

    13. Surprised Danny Brown’s new record did not chart. Wow.

I thought Nelly would move some serious units.

I like that new Pharell joint he got wit Nicki.

      1. i just went and it says 15,474

notice how hes in the 14th spot down, if he really sold 160k he would have been ahead of Drake on that chart!

    14. ok its cha boi back up in it. back from my vacation in the south of france. wuddup world. shoutout to my boi nelly nell for merking “king” kendrick. Nelly outsould your favourite rapper kendric. time for yall to admit that he fell off. proud of nelly with this comeback album. 6 years in and hes still killin it! also what about our boys in MMG. dudes are moving more units then kendric… come on kendric get it together. congrats Nelly and MMG. ya bish? ya you bish! ya damn bish!!!!

      1. LMAO!!!your bum ass could have done something constructive with your time instead of cosign yourself 6 times in 20 min…

    15. Yah, I done sold bricks and grams, had these bitches going ham/
Rubbed my nips on instagram, all because my last name is graham/
I outsold JT, outsold Jigga people asking How you figure?
I’m a light skinned nigga, plus I’m jewish, so my dick’s a little bigger
Ugh, damn, I swear you need to get some measuring tape/
I’ll take your bitch’s breath away, and the people buying my Cd live on section 8/
I swear, My swag is on point, bout to drop another long joint/
Your bitch loves my pen game, she jocking on my ballpoint/
Ugh, yeah, It’s like these niggas afraid to go hard, they won’t go bar for bar/
Why the fuck you think I’m scared to go at Kendrick Lamar/
Ugh, damn, I can’t beef, my sales might deplete/
Plus if my mama hear my record, she might not cook nothing to eat/

    16. Damn Nelly used to go quadruple platinum and shit now the nigga can barely get to 20k albums. WTf happened, nigga fell off hard.

      Bawse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. MMG fell off hard too but they were never really on like a multi platinum artist like Nelly so no one noticed or cared when they dropped off

      2. Every artist not named JayZ or Emenim has fallen off from that era, it’s the nature of the game.

Nelly sold so many albums while he was on top that he will be rich forever notwithstanding a miracle misfortune.

MMG didn’t fall off they just didn’t have a strong single to promote their compilation but they still have Wale’s album as a top selling HipHop album for 2013 with a Gold selling single.

Nelly is making music for the enjoyment of making music, he’s already sold more albums than 95% of the rappers who have ever sold.

      3. I’m not an Emenim fan or groupie so I don’t use his slang terminology like “Stan” in conversations, and I had no idea Wale was platinum.

As long as I have a personal secretary like you to proofread my posts then I don’t have to be 100% accurate. What size bra do you wear babygirl?

      4. you were also wrong about no new artists going plat between 2006-2010

you should do some research before you start spouting off like a know it all

      5. Little weird freak kid:

Do you know what NEW artists means?

I got my data from the RIAA and Complex website who were the ones ro bring it to my attention, so either prove me wrong with data or STFU.

JayZ at present has the longest reign as a top artist in HipHop.

        “Will he ever fall off…..NO”

      6. The fact that dudes are arguing for Soulja Boy to have a platinum plaque for an album he dropped in 2007 even though the RIAA shows no certification for the album shows you the exact direction of the culture and the mentality of the fans.

If the ringtone rapper did get a plaque ask his fans what new artist got another one between then & 2010 when Drake did it.

That’s exactly how valuable platinum is in this era, they screaming SOULJA BOY.

The culture is gone in a different direction everybody is scrambling tring to cater and pander ro the white buying demographic which is why every label went out and got a white artist to add ro their label, every label from Good to CAsh Money, to Roc, to Taylor to Bad Boy to Shady..scrambling.

Labels acting desperate trying to lure in POP music buyers by adding white POP chicks on T.I records and 2-Chainz records, they know who buys the albums so that’s who they try and attract.

This is the new direction of the HipHop industry.

    17. How the fuck you combine 7 different fan bases and only sell 74k in 3 weeks? Atlantic gotta be thinking of ditching Mediocre Music Group

      1. Because those 7 different fan bases all overlap each other. You act like it’s not the same people who are fans of all of the artists on MMG. Plus, compilation albums rarely do well in sales.

      2. Cruel Summer was headed by that Kanye guy who’s like one of the biggest artists in the culture if I’m not mistaken.

      3. That doesn’t even make sense. You got Ross and Wale who are the main sellers in MMG. Meek Mill is known, but unproven, and the rest are either MMG cronies, or guest stars who aren’t selling either. 74k isn’t bad for a throwaway album.

      4. These rappers always save the best tracks for their own personal projects so I’m not a big fan of compilations but I know they didn’t release the compilation with the idea that it would sell as much as a solo album. Ross just uses the Self Made series as promotion for MMG artists leading into their own albums.

      1. Is she really? I thought she was born in Trinidadad and was half Indian but maybe the truth isn’t really the truth.

      1. I’m not really a Drake fan, but I don’t see what is so surprising that someone who went gold in a week would have a significant dropoff in the 2nd week…. especially in today’s album sale climate.

I’d imagine the people that check for the new drake album went out and bought it right away.

      2. maybe a big drop for him, but your favorite rapper would kill to have his total sales right now. save your hate.

    18. Justin Timberlake flopped and Drake’s sales had a really huge decline. Deltron actually sold a lot more than expected.

      1. we’ll support him when he puts out a decent album without 30 shitty features from everyone and anyone in the industry with a little buzz

    19. Drake’s 2nd week is way more than most albums first week.
He’ll be platinum in 4 weeks of release which is really impressive in today’s age.

    20. drake is an idiot.
      drakes fans are idiots too.

look, they bought a shit album and wasting their money xD while this cheesy fake ass drake is grinning about your stupidity 🙂

drake is the biggest fake in industry, cheap bieber-pop “rapper”, he cant even rap.

      1. eminem is an idiot.
        eminem fans are idiots too.

look they’re going to buy a shit album and waste their money xD while this cheesy white boy eminem is grinning about your stupidity 🙂

eminem is the most overrated in industry, cheap beiber-pop “rapper”, he can’t even rap.

    21. damn i gota say i dont think i even see eminem doing these drake numbers. his new lp dont have much buzz at all for his name the single sucked and doesnt have the recovery hype that album had in 2010

      1. yes, eminem will flop and sell less than drake. berzerk may have gone plat, but it still is a trash single that everyone will forget about next year, along with mmpl2, while people will still bump drizzy drake’s album.

      2. J street is obviously dentalbitch in disguise lying again. ANd youngsta, you’re retarded. Eminem cannot and will not flop at all. He’ll sell more than Drake. No one will listen to Drake’s trash album a year from now.

      1. I said I checked the site and they had nelly at no.2, ahead of drake and behind JT.

Also, Miley Cyrus, whether your hating ass admits it or not, is accepted into hiphop culture. She’s got Big Sean, Nelly, Ludacris, and French Montana on there, all of them true hiphop aritsts.

      2. Because Big Sean, Nelly, Ludacris and French Montana are rare talents, right….. fuck outta here bitch

    22. Nelly had a nice run from 2000-2005 he killed them with the singles and sold a crazy amount of albums but the average reign for a hiphop artist at the top is 4-5 years and then it’s downhill.

LL Cool J had a crazy run and Wayne is still on his run along with JayZ but those are a few that stood the test of time and not the standard.

Artists like Ludacris and Snoop had incredible runs but the gig is up. Then you have artists like DMX and 50Cent who peaked really fast had a run and then fell off too fast.

Jeezy and Ross are nearing the end of their run, their music is no longer compatible with today’s climate.

Don’t be too dissapointed when Pusha Ts first week sales come out, he’s not white enough or hipster enough to get mainstream love but he’s still contender for album of the year.

    23. drake still killing it 2nd week. still selling more than most albums so haters can shut it. nwts will still go plat.

      1. Miley is accepted by some but not by all, she’s a great gimmick to help rappers cross over for sales purposes.

    24. Look at the difference between Justin Timberlake and Hip Hop artists…. Most Hip Hop fans are crabs in the bucket and will rather make up a million excuses not to spend a bullshit $12 on an album. LoL… Now you bum ass leaches can reply on why your bum ass is too cheep to support the artists YOU LIKE! The funniest excuse is that there is no good music out to buy yet your iPods/iPhones are filled with a bunch of music that you listen to everyday that YOU LIKE but was too broke or cheep to spend $12… LMAO #CrabsInTheBucket

      1. until you can prove that not one of Justin’s sales are from a Hip Hop fan I’ll just laugh at your bum ass

    25. Want to help your parents financial staying at home….?
as Jeremy said I didn’t even know that some people able to make $4719 in 1 month on the internet. find more information——–> http://xurl.es/jobs4all
Just open link and go to HOME tab and get effective details

    26. “Cruel Summer sold 205k first week”

Because people knew it was affiliated with Kanye West, a superstar in rap. It still didn’t go platinum which for Kanye standards is shitty.

      1. And MMG sold 74k to date because of Ross, the “hottest” mc in the game. What are Ross’ standards groupie? You’re dizzy from your own spin.

      2. To the delusional sucka who just said aross is the hottest you must be smoking Meth.

Drake is easily the hottest rapper out, he’s on half of the Top 40 singles this year and his album is selling like hot cakes across the globe.

This is 2013 not 2011 you idiot.

      3. ^learn how to read to know what quote/unquote means and I responded to a Ross stargazer for your information.

You can go slurp Drake’s balls in a corner now, you’re dismissed.

      4. To be fair, Cruel Summer’s last reported sales around March/April were 458,000+, so it hasn’t even been certified Gold – and CERTAINLY will never go platinum… It opened very strongly on the back of Mercy and Clique, but after that dropped like a rock, similarly to Yeezus.

    27. Big Sean had a quiet year but Kid Cudi repped with some nice sales for the label.

Usually Sean is food for some club bangerz but he didn’t really come through like last time.

    28. drake continues to sell well proving he is the face of hiphop. Eminem came out with another pop trash single drake is the number 1 rapper right now who can sell the most have the biggest hits and sell out the highest toors. DRAKE IS THE FACE OF RAP THE NUMBERS AND STATS PROVE IT LEARN TO ACCEPT FACTS YOU IGNORANT CUNTS.

      1. Lol you are ignorant. 168,000 is weak for week 2 sales. Eminem sold 222,000 and 333,000 on his week 2 of his last 2 albums. So, not only do u not have an argument, ,most likely if you say stuff this dumb you dont have a dad, at least I wouldnt stick around with a nonsense rambling kid like you.

        http://www.eminemalbum2014.com

    29. Kendrick came out almost a year ago and Drizzy bout to pass him after a few weeks.
      #TorontoTitans #RedBoyBosses #SlowandSensual4Life

    30. Shout out to Lorde!

For a 16 year old girl out of small country New Zealand, 129,000 first week sales is amazing!!!

      1. Nah her song ain’t racist. They think it singles out african americans, but in truth if they think that, then they are stereo typing themselves.

    31. WHY THE FUCKING HELL IS LORDE ON THIS LIST YEH I LIKE HER MUSIC BUT WTF THIS IS HIP-HOP ALBUM SALES HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!

      1. and they always put jt and drake in it its not hip hop go to the billboard lists for that what happened to hiphopdx little big for there bridges yep!

      1. why in the world you feel like trolling for nelly all of a sudden?

i guess you love to stick up for the underdogs

    32. Miley Cyrus (RCA) 250-270k
Panic! at the Disco (Fueled By Ramen) 90-100k
      Pusha T (Def Jam/IDJ) 75-80k
      Cassadee Pope (Republic Nashville) 40-45k
      Korn (Prospect Park) 40-45K
      Alter Bridge (Alter Bridge) 30-35k
      Mayday Parade (Fearless) 30-35k
      Amos Lee (Blue Note) 17-20k
      Cage The Elephant (RCA) 17-20k
Prince Royce (Sony Music Latin) 16-18k
Stone Temple Pilots (Play Pen) 13-15k

      1. Stone Temple Pilots should be sellin more than that I heard they got the singer from Linkin Park in the band now

      2. The Stone Temple Pilots release is an EP though, not a full-length album… Still could have done 30-40k at least, but worth noting 🙂

    33. lmao at Nelly. Looks like this is his last album on a major label. This is always how gimmicky rappers end up. They sell millions of records for the first 2-3 years, then they start flopping heavy. Same thing happened to 50 Cent, DMX, Ja Rule, Ludacris, etc

      1. at least they sold millions though, not a lot of these new cats can say that and they gonna fall off with a whole lot less money than luda, nelly, 50 and ja! DMX not so much

    34. It would be interesting to see how Danny Brown sells next week, normally, I don’t care about sales at all, but seeing an artist that has true creative talent (in hip hop) selling some records would be a nice thing to see. (Just fyi, I liked Pusha’s album, I thought it was pretty dope)

    35. Drake # is way to low so what 600k for all of the USA with about 100 million target people to sell and buy his album…then to drop 148k 2nd week ouch the projected range for week 2 should of been 250k-300k…NO LIE

      1. Have you considered downloading plays a large part in why the album declined. 800,000 + in two weeks. That’s insane, especially for a guy who rap sings.

      1. How is that a marketing FAIL if it’s an Indy release from an underground collective, coming 13 years after their debut LP, and on the back of 6 years of delays… not to mention the first Deltron album opened at #194 on the BB200, this one charts much higher (though sales in 2000 were huge, I agree)

you should think before you post, no?

    36. I hope nelly see now, that he have to stop to sing and give feat to people like miley cyrus… his career is definitely over now… And he was my fav Rapper for a long long time… but enough is enough

      1. thats the longest ive seen any album on the hhdx weekly sales chart. i think it only fell off the charts 1 or 2 weeks then came back when others fell off after only weeks on the chart

    37. As an accountant for YMCMB I can confirm Pusha T does not want to go to war with YMCMB. Wayne already said that if Pusha disses one more time, he will go DMX on him. The YMCMB army is built for war. Wayne a certified gangsta. He got 3 tear drops, did a bid on the island and all that. Wayne ethered rappers and even caused permanent damage to Dez Bryant’s knee. Pusha is wack. All Wayne has to do is throw him a rock and Pusha will fuck his life up again!!!!!!!!!

      1. As an accountant for YMCMB, I can tell you that Wayne tried to shove a rubber fist up my ass, and I took it like the little bitch that I am.

      1. Nelly sold over double in his first week what Pain is Love 2 sold in almost 2 years! Not even joking! Ja’s last album hasnt moved 7000 yet!!!!

      2. Ja Rule has moved 7 million copies of his latest album so far. Nelly sold 160k copies this weekend.

MIley Cyrus is the female queen in hiphop.

      3. More lies from dentalbitch. Ja Rule barely sold 40k copies and Nelly sold 15K. Miley’s the queen of ahitty pop, not hip-hop.

      4. Miley’s the queen of hiphop whether your hating ass admits it or not. Also, she makes far far more money than you. You only wish you could hit that ass.

      5. Ja Rule is dentalbitch in disguise making up lies. She’s the queen of shitty pop, not hip-hop. Her making money doesn’t make her good at all.

“You only wish you could hit that ass.”

What ass? That shit is flat like pancakes. I only like chicks with big asses.

      6. Miley makes more than you. That’s a fact. Also, do you really focus on ass as how to get a good looking girl? That’s why I love her ass.

      7. And you’re a dickrider, that’s a fact. And, yes. I do pay attention to ass. If the ass ain’t right, I can’t fuck with her. Miley has a flat ass and you like flat asses.

    39. And MMG sold 74k to date because of Ross, the “hottest” mc in “the game”

Kanye has a way bigger name. Nobody has ever called Ross the hottest MC in the game. Are the meds finally wearing off, chief? Your hate for MMG causes you to interpret simple statements as personal attacks. Seek help immediately.

      1. Are you stupid? MTV called Ross the hottest MC in the game a year ago. Your stanning for MMG is making you make up bullshit.

      2. “Nobody has ever called Ross the hottest MC in the game”

actually i see that Ricky Rozay troll do it almost daily

      3. These G-unit freaks are just plain weird, no wonder G-Unit crumbled so fast and 50 Cent is doing duets with Skylar Grey, these poor kids will ruin a fan base!

LOL, yeah MTV gave Eozay the hottest title for the year 2011 when the whole squad had the club hopping and they were on all the features moving and shaking.

      4. No one even mentioned G Unit, you dumbass. MMG stans are so obsessed with them that it’s ridiculous. Hop off their nuts.

      5. LOlOL, it’s so easy to make the gay-guys emotional, they always turn red in the face and respond with some reference to the male genitalia or some Emenim slang.

        I love it

      1. if by on top you mean on the bottom

complex just put out a list of the 50 hottest rappers according to google trends, guess who aint make the list???

the almighty Ja not even as hot as Riff Raff in these streets!!!

    40. “the almighty Ja not even as hot as Riff Raff in these streets!!!”

Riff Raff never sold 20 million albums.

      1. thats true but at this point in time he has more buzz

niggas aint even know ja went away for 2 years and came back

    41. “MTV called Ross the hottest MC in the game a year ago”

Lol Wow MTV, huh? Wasn’t aware they had any influence left. Their lists are bought and paid for anyway.

    42. “I said I checked the site and they had nelly at no.2, ahead of drake and behind JT”

Your site sucks then cause nobody in their right mind believes Nelly did 160k.

    43. “if those personal projects were their best tracks”

We now know when Mastermind is coming out. Where’s Street King? Oh that’s right, in Jimmy’s toilet.

      1. The reason Interscope doesn’t want to put 50 Cent out is because they cannot get money from his other ventures.

That movie company and the tv shows he has is all in his pocket along with the boxing promotions, books, energy shots, and headphones.

Right now every rapper signed must give atleast 40% of any other business even if they didnt help them get it including tours etc…

Why do you think Jimmy and Dre made Beats? 50 made all that money from Vitamin Water and they got jealous. Go watch the early Jimmy videos about the reason why they did beats.

    44. “That movie company and the tv shows he has is all in his pocket along with the boxing promotions, books, energy shots, and headphones”

Why would Dre and Jimmy care about those things? That’s chump change to them. Were talking about a contractual obligation to release one more album. It’s been four years, going on five. Jimmy’s not the grinch. We’ve watched Game release two albums during this time. Maybe it’s personal, but when you’re talking about a room full of multi millionaires, it’s less about jealousy and past slights, and more about what have you done for me lately?

    45. “Why do you think Jimmy and Dre made Beats?”

To get filthy rich. Why else? 50’s vitamin water deal is done, but Dre’s headphones are likely going to remain relevant for years to come.

    46. “We get it. You don’t like Kendrick. Move on already”

Touchy touchy lol Never said I didn’t like some Kendrick’s songs. It’s just when people start appointing him king of hip hop that’s when I have to introduce the facts.

    47. Cant believe they let MMG release another flop compilation, this one is sure to be the last its not even gonna crack 150k when all is said and done

      1. Selling 100K copies of some throwaways isn’t bad in this climate, I wish I could sell 100K CDs for $10 apiece and then tour for the rest of the year off the music….it’s better than releasing the songs for free on DatPiff.

    48. It’s great to see Deltron 3030 selling 8.000. BUT, it woulda been WWWAAAAYYY more if the shit didn’t leak and all the pathetic, broker losers didn’t download it for free!! Fuck you stupid assholes! You are RUINING THE FUCKING INDUSTRY!! Do you want people to stop rapping?? Because they will if you keep downloading shit for free. Deltron 3030 is a huge event, man!! The first album was classic, It definitely shoulda sold at least 20,000…

      1. Rick Ross biggest fan posted that. He thinks everyone hating on MMG is obsessed with G-Unit for some reason. A lot of people just dont fuck wit that crew.
