Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 11/17/2013

This week on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, Eminem landed at #2 behind Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP release. Eminem and Lady Gaga, both Interscope artists, were separated by approximately 50,000 units with the Top 2 albums for the week.

    Eminem’s MMLP 2 Goes Platinum

Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2 landed at #2 in this week’s chart, selling approximately 210,000 units in its second week. The album, which sold more than 793,000 copies last week, has surpassed the platinum marker of a million copies sold. During this week’s interview with BBC Radio 1, Eminem spoke about the recording process of this album. “Some of [The Marshall Mathers LP] themes and topics and things like that are revisited on this album,” Eminem said. “But at the same time I feel like it’s kind of a 2013 version. All my albums, I think for the most part, pretty much tell where I’m at on each one at that time period. There’s a lot of reflecting and things like that back on everything that was happening during that time. And it’s kind of like me reflecting on it and getting to the point where I am now with it.”

Aside from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem had five other albums make the Top 200 this week. The Marshall Mathers LP (#58), The Eminem Show (#88), Recovery (#107), Curtain Call (#135) and The Slim Shady LP (#173) also made the list. Last week, Eminem had eight albums on the chart, including Encore and Relapse, though both failed to chart this week.

Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP, which includes appearances from Too Short, R. Kelly and T.I., sold approximately 260,000 units in its first week to surpass Eminem’s second week numbers.

Jhene Aiko Breaks Into The Top 10 With Sail Out EP

This week, Jhene Aiko’s Sail Out EP broke into the Top 10 after selling approximately 34,000 units in its first week to land at #8. With this EP, Jhene Aiko, who is currently opening on Drake’s “Would You Like a Tour?,” landed just above Drake’s Nothing Was The Same. The albums were separated by less than 1,000 units sold. In July, Aiko, who also appears on Drake’s Nothing Was The Same, spoke about the influences that impacted her Sail Out EP. “It’s like bridging the gap between [my mixtape] Sailing Soul(s) and Souled Out,” Aiko said in an interview with Rap-Up. “Sail Out has a lot of the Hip Hop-Rap influence on it, even with the beats. It’s something you wanna put in your car.” Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Vince Staples and Childish Gambino appear on Aiko’s Sail Out.

Drake’s Nothing Was The Same Remains In Top 10

Drake’s Nothing Was The Same continues its placement within the Top 10. This week, Drake’s Nothing Was The Same landed at #9, selling more than 33,000 copies in its fifth week. In August, Drake spoke about trepidations he had regarding this album’s release. “I remember coming into this year thinking, ‘How am I going to cut through all these people and shine?'” Drake said in an interview with XXL. “I’ve never been part of a year when so many legends are dropping projects. How am I going to be seen? I’m going to be like the kid waving in the background in the photo with all of his tall relatives. And, I guess, those were my initial thoughts, and not to say that I haven’t enjoyed some of the stuff that has come out this year, but it didn’t pan out the way I thought it was going to.” Drake’s Nothing Was The Same has remained in the Top 10 for five consecutive weeks.

Bun B’s Trill O.G. The Epilogue Lands At #30

This week, Bun B debuted on the charts with Trill O.G. The Epilogue. The album sold approximately 11,000 units in its first week, helping the effort land at #30. Bun spoke with HipHopDX about recording many songs for this album, songs that were made to fit the Trill O.G. banner. “It’s not like random songs,” Bun said. “These are songs from the Trill O.G. project. It’s just that I didn’t want to double-up on anything. We recorded like 30-plus songs, and you can’t put them all out in one time. And I didn’t want to put songs on the album that seemed kind of familiar. If we’d already touched on them topics or dabbled in that territory, then I didn’t see the need to double-up on it. And it wasn’t that the songs weren’t good, it’s just that, you can only put so much music on one album.”

      1. you cant compare eminem to those guys. eminem been going multi-plat for almost 15 years!

clearly someone thinks its good. just like someone though hammer and vanilla ice were good at the time. i know i had a hammer tape.

      2. you cant throw hammer and ice 10 mill in with em, did they sell that much with their 2nd or 3rd album no…are they still selling 15 years later like em does? NO… your hashtag ethered statement is null and void….#STUPIDCOMMENTSDONTMAKESENSESOMETIMES

    1. Em can sell some records! Dang!!! He has no worries when it comes to that! Checkout thegrandreport, they have some good hip hop and viral videos and more on there

    2. No one who really pays attention to hip-hop/rap buys albums. The modern day music consumer is into big names and flashing lights. Sales don’t reflect artistry and talent the way they used to. I’m a big (early career) Em fan and this MMLP2 album is trash (as were his last 3 or so albums excluding Bad meets Evil)…

      1. MMLP2 is a good album, I don’t know what you’re talking about. Sure, there’s a couple of weak songs, but it’s an overall solid record.

      2. MMLP2 is not bad considering anything better is really for those that are in the know and understand what good music is, anybody else who’s clueless about music will listen to what the most appealing promotion tells them to.

    3. 2 Chainz out sold “king” kendrick and the eminem show… and yall call him a mark ass buster? nah fool. chainz album been out for a minute and he has outsold kendrick every single week. thats wussup. ya bish? ya you bish. ya damn bish!!!!!!!!

      1. wuddup world. first off all. 2 chainz sold more then kendrick and eminem show. 8,000 to 5,000. thats called outsold, hoe. chainz put it a lot of effort so glad to see my duke up on top of this rap game… but before i bounce heres a question for my h8ters. yall bish? ya you bish! ya damn bish!!!!!

    4. #169. DJ Khaled – Suffering From Success – 3,000 (44,000)

      ha ha ha

      Anonymous:

      Interscope winning right now.

no not really google them they just lost 25 mill over lady gaga

    5. Jhene Aiko selling more than DJ Khaled, YMCMB’s Rich Gang without any of the promo! LOL suffering from success my ass niccas

      1. lol i seriously doubt that. YM got a lot of bums and bench warmers. and how long you think that will last if they cant move more records than Jhene Aiko with zero promo or radio play?

    6. Em has to have the worst stans around. How is Curtain Call still selling this much? It’s not even a studio album. Just a mix of old songs from his previous albums that all his stans already have. I never understood why so many bought that album when they already had the first four.

      1. he has the worst stans around because they are going out and physically buying his old albums? LOL i bet more rappers wish they had stans like that they might not be broke

      2. the worst because they’re buying it off name recognition alone. the fans that bought mmlp2 are not the same that bought mmlp. or anything before recovery. even relapse had the dre beats and endless multis.

      3. Uh yeah, why do you think he made the song and video called “Stan”. Em knows how obsessed his male fans are which is why the word “Stan” was invented and used.

      4. ^Just saying that if you bought the first 4 albums buying Curtain Call is a waste of money. If it was all unreleased material I’d understand.

      1. Pusha T probably put out Drakes fav album of the year.

Dont forget how Drake used to be a clipse stan, buyin fake ass autographed microphones on ebay

      2. I think Em’s album is better than pusha’s. i would put Em, pusha, J cole, and then drake (in that order) for the best albums thi year. Aint a shot though to any of the rappers i just listed behind Em, their albums were dope af

      3. pusha could of had less features but it still the best czarface was dope too cant listen to drake that shit too soft more rnb than rap

    7. Em does in 2 weeks what it took Macklemore and Kendrick a year to do. Goes to show you that media presence is dogshit compared to real fans who turn their computer off long enough to actually buy a record.

      1. macklemore was unheard of 2 years ago and did independently what most artists with the major label machine behind them never achieve.

      2. Macklemore and Kendrick did in less than a year what Rick Ross couldn’t do once in 7 years with 5 albums! Goes to show you that media presence is dogshit compared to real fans who turn their computer off long enough to actually buy a record.

      3. Anybody who really believes Macklemore is Indy is an idiot, its well known he has Warner Bros. working his music and taking there cut, they just dont put their logo on the back because being Indy is par of his appeal to the hipster douche starbucks kids who buy his shit. Lyor Cohen is laughing at all of you

      4. even if he was secretly on a major label, which i dont believe he is but he does utilize them for distribution and possibly promotion.. he still did what thousands of others cant do.

      5. ^^^He isn’t a true Indy artist if he has a major marketing and Distributing his music lol but I respect the way Warner has sold him to the Emo douchebag starbucks Hipster white liberal audience, its ingenius marketing. They made a rapper for people who hate rap music and tricked everybody into thinking he’s some sort of self made genius.

Lyor Cohen deserves a round of applause…… Wouldnt be surprised if he gave them the idea to rally the gay community in their corner either…… At the very least I KNOW for a fact he picked “Same Love” to be the single

      6. Rick Ross makes decent music with dope ass beats, but besides the records there’s something else about him that people ain’t buying, not to mention the redundant “I’m rich” theme in this economy is a slap in the face of his target audience who already won’t support anybody let alone somebody that tells you they’re more set than they are.

    8. I don’t think anybody can do Shady’s numbers LOL. Hes the only rapper I know who go platinum in 2 weeks which take months for other good artist to do. I am not a big fan of EM, but I am not a hater either. Pay respect when respect is due….. numbers don’t lie.

    9. “macklemore was unheard of 2 years ago and did independently what most artists with the major label machine behind them never achieve”

Only problem is Macklemore has to follow all this up with something bigger and better. Can he do it? We’ll see.

      1. who says he has to follow it up with something bigger and better? you? LOL i doubt he cares. he could go back to being an underground artist and enjoy his millions.

they never set out to be where they are today popularity wise, their songs just took off and blew up

    10. “that wont even pay for the beats, features or promo. nicca had a tour buss with his face on it!!!”

You’ll be singing the same sad song when album #8 drops sometime next year.

      1. he got rich parents who own gas stations and shit. they got that arab money. thats how he keeps putting out new albums when every one of them flops

    11. em still running the game with an iron fist 14 years later but it went 583k copies down from just debut week so it wont sell as much as recovery at all unfortunately.

    12. Do his parents also own the label? lol Khaled has never made his money off album sales. Digital singles, ringtones, and prostution. A formula for true success.

    13. Time Magazine just reported Rick Ross had his yearly physical and the doctor said he should live until he’s 148.

    14. 50 has all that money but no respect, no new label deal, no crew, no release date, no relationship with his son, etc. MMG wins without even trying.

      1. why you talking about 2 niggas who aint on the charts at all? do you see ross or 50 selling any records this week?

    15. The crazy thing none of his songs are getting air play in Washington DC Radio station. I can’t speak for other states… and do he even have a hit single?? That lay on the radio??? Its crazy to do big numbers and your songs not being played in clubs or radio station. Like I said I can only speak for Washington DC…. I don’t know if he getting a lot spins in other states and clubs.

      1. they dont play him in the clubs they play him on easy listening stations you hear at the grocery store or in an office building

      2. It is crazy. Em hasn’t had a song you can move to in the club in over a decade. His radio singles are awful. Dudes fanbase is just dedicated.

    16. Benzino > Eminem
      Made Men > Slaughterhouse

Benzino always dropped real hood music!! No POP-TART BULLSHIT!

      #BGS2014 #Eminemisthewhitedevil

      1. It doesn’t matter who is better. What’s a fact is that they all got their style from Kanye; and Yeezus loves all his children.

    17. The Duck Dynasty guys sold more copies of their Christmas album first week than 2 Chainz, French Montana, Big Sea etc….

    18. “who says he has to follow it up with something bigger and better? you? LOL i doubt he cares. he could go back to being an underground artist and enjoy his millions.”

His net worth is $10 mill. That’s a lot of money, but who cashes out that soon? Nobody, unless the creative well is dry, or he realizes his current success is a fluke.

    19. em peaked with the eminem show

fuck , obie trice’s albums are better than mmlp2

      em destroying hip hop

just look what he did to royce and slaughterhouse

there was a point when all royce would rap about was em

he became em’s bitch and slaughterhouse fell apart

MAYBE just blaze can bring my group back

      1. liked em before anyone would give them a chance

eminem picks them up and everyone wanna like them

hip hops infested with fake fans that will eat up anything the artist puts out and its all garbage

    20. before I looked at the check ov $4526, I have faith that my friend woz actualie erning money parttime on their apple laptop.. there best friend has been doing this 4 only about 14 months and resently repaid the mortgage on their place and bourt Ford. look at this website… http://www.Fb39.com

Where do you think David Blaine gets his magical powers from? Lemme guess, Hogwarts or Princeton or some shit? WRONG! David Blane gets all his powers from Yeezus.

    21. MMLP2 will hit 3 mill and then will stop selling significant numbers. Not bad considering it’s way less pop than Recovery and it doesn’t have a song anywhere as big as the ones on Recovery.

    22. So many dope tracks off mmlp2, a few passable ones tho. I did say 8/10. Dope shit, just bought mine.

      Recommended tracks:
      Bad Guy
      Rhyme or reason
      Beautiful pain

The rihanna joint is good for marketing…its doing well on the charts

    23. Not surprised. Shady still reigns supreme in 2013. Respect.

      1. he fell like 73%, but he’s at least gonna get double or triple platinum thats pretty much a given but idk if quadruple plat like recovery… remember when the vids for monster and rap god come out it’s gonna boost his sales A LOT!

      2. Anyone who thinks it didn’t fall hard are either white people supporting white artists no matter what or dumb black people.

      3. Anyone who thinks it did fall hard are either racist black people who don’t support black artists no matter what or dumb haters.

    24. Man why everbody like this MMLP so fucking much man that shit suck since the end of the 90s rap music just progressively getting worse to the point ya’ll think this garbage is good music fuck me.

    25. Where’s the Mafia 6 mixtape? I know it debuted in the top 200 because it was selling on iTunes ahead of Bun B pretty much the entire week

      1. No you mean Drake, Rick Ross, Wayne, and Soulja Boy. K Dot, macklemore, eminem, and jay z are pop so they don’t count.

      2. wow what a prediction!!!!!!!! “the only mcs who can still go platinum are (artists that went platinum this year) HOLY SHIT YOU ARE A BRILLIANT MIND!

      3. I was talking about Eminem, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar. Macklemore is a one time wonder, he had four amazing song but the rest of the album was trash. Jay-Z only went platinum with a sh*t album is because he made a deal with a company insuring that it went platinum so his doesn’t really count.

    26. “And no one cares about a pop artist selling more than a hip-hop artist”

Their albums are sold right next to each other in the hip hop section at stores. Don’t cry just because Drake totally bitch slapped him in sales.

      1. Drake is more radio friendly because radios only want the best rappers and singers. He sold more than K Dot so that makes him better.

      2. No, dentalbitch. The radios don’t want the best artists, they want the most profitable. Drake is not better than Kendrick, sales doesn’t make him better.

      3. No, he’s not. He’s profitable because he makes the same soulless records that other shitty artists on the radio make.

      4. If sales makes you better and more talented, with that logic you can also say Robert Horry is a better ballplayer than Kobe, Lebron and Mike since he has 7 rings and they don’t, do you think he’s really better? He has mad highlights right? See what I’m doing here?

      5. Drake is better than K Dot because he appeals to more people. That means he’s better. That’s why heavy metal sucks these days.

      6. This is hiphop what we’re talking about. Sports is a different ballgame. And Drake is better than K Dot because his songs appeal to a lot of people. Basketball players use their skills for themselves.

      7. Wrong, dentalbitch. Appealing to more people doesn’t make you a better artist. Being a skilled artist makes you a better artist and that’s why Kendrick is better than Drake.

      8. If more people think you’re the best artist, they will buy their shit more than the other rapper. Drake’s just got skills that K Dot doesn’t.

      9. Drake outsold K Dot 3 times over. That’s a fact. It took K Dot 7 months to go platinum where as drake did it in 6 weeks. (And before you point out wack ass eminem, he’s a pop star which tends to sell more than true hiphop/R&B artists.)

      10. Drake is a pop artist, of course he’ll sell more than Kendrick, who’s an actual hip-hop artist. BTW, the G.O.A.T., Eminem is also a hip-hop artist like Kendrick.

      11. Drake’s the GOAT here. Eminem shouldn’t even be brought up in hiphop discussion. He’s done songs with Rihanna and Pink. How should I take him seriously after that? Kendrick was also going to collaborate with Lady Gaga and even did a song with wack mary j bilge. How can I take them both seriously?

      12. Drake ain’t the GOAT of anything. Eminem will forever be a part of hip-hop discussions. Also, Drake has also worked with the same artists that Em and Kendrick worked with (BTW, Mar y J Blige is a legend). Since you brought up collaborations, Drake worked with Justin Bieber. How can ANYONE take him seriously after that?

      1. That is because Kendrick wasn’t huge when he released GKMC. Look at the first big released for 2Pac or the SSLP with Eminem and other greats. They didn’t sell that big because they weren’t big yet. Kendrick’s next album going platinum first week.

    27. FUCK EMINEM!!!!! KNOWING THAT HE LOST THE NO. 1 SPOT, HE’S RECOMMITED TO BUYING MORE ALBUMS OF MMLP2 JUST SO THAT IT CAN GO BACK TO NO. 1 NEXT WEEK!!

      1. From Hits Daily Double,

“OUR NEW RELEASES: Looks like Eminem will return to #1 next week; as you’ve probably guessed, the Aftermath/Interscope superstar has already crossed the 1 million sales threshold.”

Also, Eminem’s a big name in music, so of course he’s gonna be #1 again.

      2. It says:

“Looks like Yo Gotti will be No. 1 with 150k copies sold. Eminem will remain at 2nd place with 100k copies sold.”

      3. No, you made that up. This is what it really says.

YOUR NEW RELEASES: Looks like Eminem will return to #1 next week; as you’ve probably guessed, the Aftermath/Interscope superstar has already crossed the 1 million sales threshold. But let’s talk about this week’s key debuts.

Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) 75-80k
Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Republic) 60-65k
        Daughtry (19/RCA) 55-60k
        Yo Gotti (RCA) 40-45k
        Nickelback (Roadrunner) 12-15k

      4. I did click on rumor mill and they said that Yo Gotti will be no. 1 this week. I clicked on rumor mill and it says that eminem will be no. 2.

      5. No, you didn’t. You made that shit up in your head and typed that shit. You didn’t even go to the website at all.

      6. Yes I did. I checked at it again and yo gotti (terrific rapper) will be no. 1 this week. Don’t let your hate judge your cloudment.

      7. Hating on me cunt? I check the dailydouble site 20 times and every time, it said that yo gotti will be number 1. Great rapper by the way. Why would eminem go back to no.1 after falling? THINK DUMBASS!!

      8. You’re the real dumbass. You didn’t check the site at all, you just made up lies. Yo Gotti’s wack ass is not going to #1 at all, Eminem will remain at the top (he didn’t fall, BTW).

      9. I checked the site dumbfuck. How many times do i have to type this in. Eminem dropped from no.1 to no.2 beaten out by gaga so how the hell is he going to return to no. 1 next week? BTW, Yo Gotti is dope. A shame that he signed to Jeezy who’s wack but gotti is dope. He’s like Jeezy’s Big Sean where he’s the only dope artist in a wack lineup.

      10. No, you fucking didn’t. Eminem is about to be #1 next week since Gaga’s about to experience the second-week fall off and no other artist are about to do big numbers. Yo Gotti sucks. He raps like he didn’t finish elementary school and sounds like a wannabe Jeezy, who’s actually dope. BTW, Big Sean is wack, too.

    28. As an accountant for YMCMB I can confirm that Eminems album will stop charting after next week. Drake is going to outsell him easy. Drake is going to be 2x platinum by the next month. Eminem and his albums will fall off the charts. The accountants at interscope emailed me asking for Wayne to give Eminem a verse to help boost him album sales. But wayne refused to work with homos like Eminem. There is a video of Em and Dre raping kendrick in the studio

      1. The reason i have this obsession over YMCMB is because they gang raped me and i’m messed up in the head….

    29. Next Kendrick album going platinum first week no doubt when the greatest ever is at his peak f*ck this economy, kendricks next album is going to be the first album i’ll buy in years.

    30. Kendrick’s GKMC was the album that made him huge. When Drake released Take Care and Nothing Was the Same he had already been huge for a while so of course he is going to sell more copies. Now that Kendrick is huge he can go to destroying Drake is sales.

    32. Outsiders place too much emphasis on Platinum, they act as if its the barometer for success in HipHop music.

There are two types of platinum the Pre 2006 Platinum and the post 2006 Platinum.

Some of the artist who went Platinum before 2005 have continued to go Platinum (JayZ, Eminem) while others have failed to reach their past platinum success with their most recent efforts (T.I., Ludacris).

LIL Wayne was right on that cusp (2005/2006) as an ascending superstar so he is one of the few artist with multiple Platinum certifications post 2006 but none prior as a solo artist.

The list of new artists who have gone Platinum post 2006 are: Soulja Boy, Drake, Nicki Minaj, Macklemore and Kendrick Lamar.

The new breed of post 2006 Gold artists who have multiple Gold albums are artists like Plies, Ross, Cudi, and J Cole.

Sadly some of the worst rappers in History have sold multi-platinum (Vanilla Ice, MC Hammer) while some of the most skilled have never sold platinum (Rakim, Common).

I know when Talib drops next month he wont go platinum and as a fan and supporter of his music I think its better that way because he can stay true to the essence of the music instead of having the pressure on himself to make radio records and chick songs just for the sake of sales to attempt to go platinum.

Salute to all the Hiphop artists who stay true to their craft and make music for their fans despite how much or how little it may sell.

      1. “every person that hates Em is BruthaDee according to this fool”

you can tell it’s him as soon as you read the word “outsiders”

    33. When the geek-freaks stop arguing cover who did or didnt go Platinum then they start arguing over which Platinum artists went Platinum the fastest, LOL.

Could you imagine the forefathers of the culture witnessing that type of foolishness? Do people even debate the samples, the beats, and the music anymore or is it just sales, beef and street-cred?

Salute Afrika Bambaata, Kool Herc, and Grandmaster Flash.

    34. BIGGEST SELLOUTS IN HIP-HOP

      1. Will.I.Am
      2. Pitbull
      3. Flo-Rida
      4. Eminem
      5. Nelly

Eminem is gunning for top spot!!

    35. Massive salute to Lecrae. Not even remotely the type of hip hop i listen to, but he’s doing relatively good numbers, especially since the album is also available for a free download.

    36. sticky fingaz killed eminem in remember me
xzibit killed eminem on bitch please 2
kendrick killed eminem on love game
50 cent killed eminem on never enough
      obie killed eminem on drips

      1. word, obie murdered em on drips, that’s one of the few times where it was obvious that one rapper (re)wrote his verse after hearing another rapper’s verse on the same song

    37. Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) 75-80k
Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Republic) 60-65k
      Daughtry (19/RCA) 55-60k
      Yo Gotti (RCA) 40-45k
      Nickelback (Roadrunner) 12-15k

    38. “No, you fucking didn’t. Eminem is about to be #1 next week since Gaga’s about to experience the second-week fall off and no other artist are about to do big numbers. Yo Gotti sucks. He raps like he didn’t finish elementary school and sounds like a wannabe Jeezy, who’s actually dope. BTW, Big Sean is wack, too.”

Unless eminem is purchasing copies of his own album, Yo Gotti will be no. 1. Dope rapper who far surprasses Jeezy in talent. Wish he and big sean were signed to ymcmb.

      1. Is this a joke? Eminem will be #1, not Yo Gotti. How can Yo Gotti go to #1 when he’s about to sell 40-45K and other artists are about to sell more? Yo Gotti is wack; Jeezy has more talent in one finger than Gotti has in his entire body. And Big Sean sucks, too. If they went to YMCMB, their careers will go nowhere.

      2. How is it a joke? YO Gotti will be number one with 150k copies sold. And how is Gotti wack? He’s a dope rapper like big sean that had the unfortunate habbit of signing with wack artists. At YMCMB, we give them time to craft their masterpieces.

      3. It’s a joke because your statements are incorrect. Yo Gotti will sell 40-45k next week and won’t be #1. Yo Gotti is wack; he can’t rap, he sounds like shit. And Big Sean is corny as hell. YMCMB are never gonna release their projects at all if they signed to them; they’re focused on Wayne, Nicki, and Drake.

      4. Their predictions are wrong. I called yo gotti and he said his album will sell at least 150k opening week. He spits out flows and big sean has swag. YMCMB focuses on everyone. We just let them work at their own pace.

      5. No, their predictions are right, they’re never wrong. Yo Gotti will sell 40-45K next week, you’ll see next week and cry. He spits shit rhymes and Big Sean is corny. YMCMB only focuses on Wayne, Drake, and Nicki because they’re the only ones on the labels who actually sell.

      6. If their predictions are right, it will be because soundscan could not account all of the copies sold. He spits dope lines and Big Sean is dope. YMCMB also has DJ Khaled who has done 3 albums and Tyga who’s done 3 albums.

      7. Nope. If their predictions are right, that’s how much it sells. Gotti spits trash lines and Big Sean is trash. All of those albums from Khaled and Tyga flopped big time.

      8. I called soundscan and they said Yo Gotti will sell 150k copies. They will just tax off 100k copies because they support white artists like eminem. Khaled and Tyga aren’t flopping because they are still on ymcmb.

      9. No, you didn’t. You made that up. Yo Gotti will sell 40-45K. And Soundscan supports all artists of different backgrounds. Khaled and Tyga are flopping, their albums didn’t sell shit.

    39. How can I take them both seriously.

      1. Wrong, dentaldambitch.

    40. “Drake ain’t the GOAT of anything. Eminem will forever be a part of hip-hop discussions. Also, Drake has also worked with the same artists that Em and Kendrick worked with (BTW, Mar y J Blige is a legend). Since you brought up collaborations, Drake worked with Justin Bieber. How can ANYONE take him seriously after that?”

Drake is the GOAT of hiphop. Eminem worked with pink, POP rihanna, and FUN. That should be why Eminem shouldn’t even be on hiphopdx. Drake will never work with any pop artists. He worked with R&B Rihanna and other R&B artists. BTW, Justin Bieber is an R&B artist.

      1. Drake ain’t the GOAT of hip-hop at all. Eminem has worked with hip-hop artists. Drake has and will always work with pop artist. Also, Justin Bieber is NOT an R&B artist, he’s a pop artist.

      2. Drake is the GOAT of hiphop. He’s had the biggest opening week sales of hiphop this year. Eminem has worked with hiphop artists like Wayne (who murdered him three times) but also pop artists like FUN and POP RIhanna. Drake only works with R&B/hiphop artists. Bieber is an R&B artist.

      3. Wrong. Drake’s not the GOAT. Eminem had the biggest 1st week sales of 2013 hip-hop. Eminem works with different artists of different genres (BTW, Wayne never murdered him, it’s the opposite) Drake also works with pop artists like Bieber, who’s %100 pop and 0% R&B.

      4. Bieber is R&B and hiphop. Your favorite R&B aritst, Usher discovered him. He’s the GOAT in R&B and Drake is the GOAT in Hiphop. Wayne is the godfather of hiphop and murdered eminem. Eminem’s afraid of drake.

      5. No, he ain’t. Bieber’s not hip-hop at all; he’s a shitty teen pop artist and he’ll be like that forever. Boyfriend, like every other Bieber song, is just another pop song.

      6. Are you a dumb 15 year old girl? Bieber’s a pop artist. Usher’s not my favorite artist at all, he sold out. Bieber sucks and has no talent at all.

      7. Usher is wack but signed bieber, a dope artist to his label. Bieber has talent. Don’t be mad just because he makes more money than you.

    41. I realise these stans are the worst thing that could have ever happened to Em’s career (from a musical standpoint at least, gotta admit they made sure he sold a lot though, but what’s a million more or less) and music. Sure Eminem’s got a lot of skill and made some good songs, but the way he got idolized was retarded. I think it turned a lot of people away from him (though some of his wack ass singles helped too). I remember having some conversations with a Stan, who I knew from work. He always called Em the greatest ever, while he never even heard of a Rakim, Big Daddy Kane or KRS One (not saying they are the greatest, there is no such thing). When we could finally agree on that, he started calling Em the first white rapper…It’s this brainless attitude that tarnished Em and took a lot of the fun out of listening to him, for years. It might have been silly, but I really didn’t wanted to be associated with any Stan. Fuck, Eminem even birthed the term Stan.
      /END RANT

      1. You should appreciate the fact that his music isn’t always too serious or that he doesn’t always BRAG about material possessions like most of the rappers in the game alot rappers just brag it gets old……Now Im not bias My favorite rappers are 2pac, Nas, Scarface Wutang,Ice Cube, Daz Em, Outkast, T.I. Lupe, Lauryn Hill, Kendrick Lamar

    42. Eminem is a decent rapper but the fact that hes white makes him instantly separable from the rest of the hip hop community. But yes if he was black he wouldve sold half, and he knows this. But i think he takes advantage of industry friends and his skin color. Eminem is the type of artist that could put ou a cd of 45 minutes of him taking a sh*t and his fans would lvoe it. He has a hardcore fanbase, theres no denying that and I could see how they could enjoy this cd. I loved his first two cds but Eminems music has been on a steady decline. Not even his whiteness could mask the repetitive beats and overall boringness of this release.

      1. @ Fresh: Black voted for obama bcoz hes black, not bcoz hes gonna make a good president. Just like saying, jay z goes platinum bcoz hes black. There are lots of white rappers out there and lots of black rappers, how come only jay and Em and, maybe, a selected few hit plat and multi plat with every record they put out? Try and answer this question yourself. Peace hommie.

    43. Can we just all stop hating! Jesus Christ has said not to judge other people this is a sin! Follow god and stop it with the hating and start with a loving. Let others have their own opinions and respect them!

    44. “Kendrick still has the better album than Aubrey”

Why do you call these fools by their first name? You don’t know them like that.

    45. “NOT ONE MMG RAPPER HAS GONE PLAT!!!!!!”

When Port of Miami finally goes platinum your going to feel really fucking stupid.

      1. If it really mattered these rappers would buy the remaining albums they need to go platinum but instead they buy houses, cars, jewells, and businesses which shows you how much they truly care about Platinum.

    46. You YMCMB haters are fucking idiots. Because I’m an accountant for Cash Money Records, I spend a lot of time with Birdman. What some of you may not know is Michael Jackson was planning on signing to YMCMB at the time of his death. He had even changed his stage name to Mic Jackin.

He was planning on releasing 2 Major albums of hard hitting Trap shit, one a collaborative album with Lil Wayne titled Trap Kids. Since Michael’s demise Cash Money records have actually teamed up with NASA and are creating a Global headquarters in Space and on the Moon.

The reason for this is to create a new genre of hiphop called “Zero Gravity Rap”. Lil Wayne was hospitalized because during his first zero gravity rap training session he rapped so hard he created a Blackhole that nearly engulfed him.

The universe was not ready for his talent so it tried to take him, luckily all it got was his chain and a couple of Big Mac vouchers. All you haters are gonna be sorry soon YMCMB will be so big it will have its own gravitational pull meaning you will be drawn into it no matter what you do.

    47. i got all this albums free i did buy plenty already all hiphop albums 1,200 cd’s i got like 125 free so far im 31years old im gettin old so it dont matter if i buy them so i get them free now. so i hope i dont get in trouble ha.

    48. Damn…Eminem Show DIAMOND, Marshall Mathers LP DIAMOND, Platinum accross the board and this doesn’t even include digital downloads and sales overseas. NO RAPPER CAN TOUCH THESE SALES. NOT EVEN CLOSE!! WHO’S # 2??
WHAT RAPPER HAS GONE DIAMOND BESIDES 50 CENT??

      1. Ready to Die is the best album in the history of Rap Music. 2 Pac – All Eyez on Me is #2. ATliens is up there too…But, your talking about DEAD rappers. Outkast can’t push a million in two weeks anymore. HAMMER? HA! I saw him a few weeks ago at his sons baseball game in Tracy, CA. I sat and talked to him for like 10 minutes.

      2. do even realize that pac, outcast and big went diamond only on double albums, hence the double count…not saying that that makes Em a better rapper butsales wise I give him props

      1. are you stupid? the million copies sold to samsung are not included in these numbers thats a legit 1 million 60 thousand copies sold

      2. Why would the records samsung gives you with the purchase of their product count towards Jayz sales.. 90% of the ppl who bought that product don’t even want Jayz lacking ass album anyway

    49. what Kenneth answered I cant believe that someone able to profit $8285 in one month on the computer. have a peek at this website………www.jobs39.com

    50. Last time I checked Khaled had gold and platinum singles. Gotti doesn’t. The truth is a wonderful thing, sport.

      1. last i checked he aint made a hot single that went gold or platinum without lil wayne, drake or t-pain!!

yo gotti dont got half the expenses dj khaled does

      1. like Jean replied I am surprised that someone able to make $7469 in 4 weeks on the computer. browse this site ……www.jobs39.com

    51. So you’d rather make horrible songs on your own that flop as opposed to gathering the most popular artists and putting them on songs that routinely chart, and go platinum or gold? Incredible how your logic crumbles like a cookie.

    52. Gotti has had two official albums that tanked. Khaled is a singles person who routinely charts at least 1 hit song per album. Based on those achievements how can you pretend he’s flopping? He’s had 7 albums. He’s smarter than you for a reason.

      1. And all of Khaled’s 7 albums tanked hard, singles are irrelevant, especially when they have a bunch of big names on them. Hop off Khaled’s terrorist dick.

    53. last time i checked fake rappers like drake wayne will never get on eminems level wtf wrong with evrybody why do yall like niggas that speak fake shit why cant they be real and rich like pac big nas and eazy e hiphop did really die
