BJ The Chicago Kid sat down with DJ Smallz Eyes for an interview published yesterday (August 4) about being featured on Dr. Dre’s Compton album and revealed some advice he received from the producer.
“Never stop working,” says the Grammy nominated singer-songwriter. “And it has nothing to do with Apple, it has nothing to do with Beats, it has nothing to do with Aftermath, it has nothing to do with Beats 1, it has nothing to do with any of that. You have an idea, you begin to do whatever you can, with what you have to get that thing to be seen, for it to be touched, for it to become an actual product.”
Elsewhere in the interview, BJ also says he has been working on music with Dr. Dre for a couple of years and shares how his record, “It’s All On Me” ended up on Compton.
“I’m surprised they picked that one,” the Chicago singer says. “There’s so many that we’ve done.”
Compton is due out Friday (August 7).
