Hip Hop Album Sales: Future, Meek Mill & Drake

    Future’s Dirty Sprite 2 debuts at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Tyrese moves down to #4 behind Taylor Swift and Alan Jackson after claiming the top spot last week with Black Rose. Meek Mill moves down the charts again after losing the top spot to Tyrese a week ago.

    Future Debuts at #1

    Future’s Dirty Sprite 2 debuts at #1 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart with 146,960 units of total activity. This is his first album to top the chart. 2014’s Honest and 2012’s Pluto peaked at #2 and #8 respectively.

    Meek Mill Sells Less Than 50,000

    Meek Mill continues to slip down the charts after losing his top spot to Tyrese last week. Dreams Worth More Than Money saw 39,139 units of total activity this week, landing Meek Mill at the #6 position on the chart.

    Drake Remains in Top 20

    Drake’s album sales remain steady, with If Youre Reading This Its Too Late at #13 on this week’s chart. The project garnered 19,215 units of total activity. This is the album’s 23rd week on the chart.

    Kendrick Lamar Makes Jump

    For the first time since To Pimp a Butterfly‘s surprise release, Kendrick Lamar’s major label debut Good Kid m.A.A.d City surpasses his sophomore project. The album jumped from #93 to #43 and saw 10,323 total units of activity, 4,991 albums sold, 29,120 song purchases and 3,630,392 streams. To Pimp a Butterfly is #45 and saw 9,982 units of total activity, 5,518 albums sold, 15,353 song purchases and 4,394,042 streams.
