In its second week of availability, Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint is still the best selling Hip Hop record currently on the shelves, again sitting as the #2 most popular record in the country. Just a few spots down the list, J. Cole’s album sales have remained steady and his 2014 Forrest Hills Drive album officially sold the required half-a-million copies to officially be certified Gold.
Meanwhile, Fabolous’s first album in a number of years debuted at #12 with total first-week sales numbers cracking the 66,000 marker as of this past Sunday (December 28). D’Angelo’s latest album, Black Messiah, fell from #5 to #25 in its second week on the shelves and the holiday week seems to have helped albums from Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, Pitbull, and Eminem temporarily climb back up the charts.
Nicki Minaj Stays At #2
After debuting at #2 last week, Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint held onto the spot again this week despite a 36% drop in total activity. After opening week sales of 198,142, Minaj’s third album has so far tallied 303,528 albums sold with the latest numbers adding on 105,386 units. The rapper’s streaming activity stuttered only slightly with more than 14 million streams across platforms.
J. Cole Falls From #4 To #6
Staying steady with his ongoing sales, J. Cole sold 104,404 albums this past week, bringing his total count up to 576,723 in just three weeks on shelves. 2014 Forrest Hills Drive was streamed more than 10 million times last week alone after putting up nearly 16 million streams in the week prior. After debuting at #1 and spending a single week at the top of the pack, Cole dropped from #4 to #6 most recently.
Fabolous Returns At #12
Releasing his first official album in five years, Fabolous climbed up to #12 with The Young OG Project selling 66,312 units in its first week on the shelves. The album, which wasn’t available for streaming anywhere, also saw just over 47,305 single song sales which helped boost its overall total activity count to 71,042.
Describing the release in an interview with Rolling Stone, Fab said “It’s kind of like a vanity project. I kept getting these beats that were inspired by Nineties records, so I just busted some raps on top of ’em. I felt like I’m a good person to represent that, because I’ve been around since the late Nineties, and I’m still putting out music, 15 years later.”

once again im gonna say how retarded this new format is. why cant we see j coles or nickis total sales? cole gotta be over 600k now.
scroll up and read the section titled ” J COLE falls from #4 to #6″ and you’ll see his total
but i do agree, this new format fucking sucks.
naw that makes no sense if he was over 500k last week and with another 100k+ he should be well past 600 now.
He is over 600k but that’s with the info that you’re claiming you wish not to see just physical copies the total is there so what’s the problem?
can u just post the “normal” format ???? nobody cares about the new way they doing it..with the stream and shit. Just show how many copies in that week + total for fuck sake
the very little power you ever had has been taken away from you and now you’re begging for that information just to have the conversation, INSTEAD of just HAVING THE CONVERSATION about your purchase! THESE ARE OFFICIAL NUMBERS, you mad? BUY THE MUSIC. even YOU know dickriding off of STREAMS HITS is weird, WELL………YOU skated all these years FRONTING as a FAN, DEAL WITH IT!
one of the only things i come to hhdx for is tuesday for the album sales..and now you have fucked that up..if hhdx keeps using this fuckin gay ass format and hnhh keeps posting im gonna just go there
switch out of this gay format or atleats add in total
its actually wednesday and they have always posted album sales on wednesday
That new Fabolous album is straight garbage and wack ass fuck .
Hip Hop just sucks nowadays . Everybody is making wack to mediocre albums . J Cole’s album Forest Hill Drive is Average at best and overhyped , the first 5 songs are good and the rest of the album is mediocre and average .
Really surprised Fab sold that much with those garbage ass features. I think it was itunes only too.
Was about to say the same thing.
true I haven’t even checked the album out the features looked like pop attempts Lituation was a banger tho. If he had some real promotion behind a album get jadakiss nas few other dope mc’s on there he could move sum units
For J. Cole to be so boring his audience is steadily growing first one did 650+ second one 750+ this one probably push close to 850+ good job ma dude
queen iggy ha longevity!!!!
And when Iggy wins the grammy, them numbers gonna skyrocket
Iggy hasn’t even gone gold yet and her album came out in May. LOL
Nicki has already sold over 300,000 copies in just 2 weeks.
Queen Nicki is slaying Icky Azaela
cole did a kamikaze on the game that climate excuse is dead
This is the first time I’m posting here. I hope Jay gets to read this because I think it’s important for him to hear what he’s doing wrong.
The new sales format is one of the worst changes this site has implemented to date. It makes zero sense to present streaming numbers and not total sales numbers. Please realize how unintelligent it is to omit total sales figures from an album sales tally. It is misleading and confusing, and it serves no one who wants to know total album sales figures.
I will check next week’s album sales article to see if the format that makes sense has been restored. If it hasn’t been restored then next week will be the last time I visit or recommend hiphopdx to friends. You guys had a good thing going. I hope you don’t ruin it by being stubborn and uncompromising. Thank you for all of the years of uploads and information.

Go make your own site then with total sales and let us keep making more ad dollars in a week than you’ll make in a year.
Def Jam and Roc Nation bought 20K each of that Young OG project and it was sellin for $5.99 on Xmas day so dont be fooled by that 66K
“The album, which wasn’t available for streaming anywhere”
Not true, “The Young OG Project” has been on Spotify since December 26.
J COLE went hard…already at GOLD status…
BRING BACK TOTAL SALES! WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS NEW SHIT??? WHATS THE POINT I DONT GET IT!!! WACK!!!!!
This is the weekly sales article you illiterate cock gobbler. Stop being a bitch and go check on Hits Daily Double or Billboard if you’re that concerned about “total” sales. The point is seeing how artists are performing every week. You the artist or their fucking manager? No, you broke bitch, you’re not. So fuck you
What make me broke? What makes me illiterate?? You pussy son… Internet gangsta… Bet you would never say that to face Fag!
“Go make your own site then with total sales and let us keep making more ad dollars in a week than you’ll make in a year.”
It’s tacky and unprofessional to discuss personal finances in a public forum. God has been very good to me and my business 🙂 Thanks and God bless you, whoever you are!
I wish they would put back the complete album sales instead of just each week.
ey, its shitty how they show number now! sucks, moving on…
