Young Thug has displayed his adeptness (or lack thereof) in charming his way out of challenging situations.

On Saturday (February 24), body cam footage from 2021 surfaced on Instagram, capturing a traffic stop after the rapper was caught speeding in his hometown of Atlanta.

During the interaction, Thugger pleads with the officer not to issue a ticket, explaining that he had recently regained his driving privileges and was keen to avoid further setbacks.

“I don’t think I can take the ticket. I just got my license back,” he began, after being informed he almost clipped the patrol car, speeding at over 100 miles per hour.

He even makes a lighthearted suggestion of a foot race or other on-the-spot physical trial as a way to avoid the citation.

“How about I do one hundred push-ups?” Thug says in the clip, but is promptly denied by the officer. “Alright, let’s race. Let’s race, and if I beat you, no ticket. If you beat me, $2000,” he added in an attempt to sway the officer.

Throughout the exchange, the officer maintains professionalism and stressed the importance of compliance, referencing the recent incidents involving speeding drivers striking pedestrians.

“Have you ever done something and sought forgiveness? You wanted to be forgiven,” Young Thug concludes before ultimately walking away with a ticket in hand.

Young Thug suffered a more recent legal setback this week when he was identified as the alleged gunman in a call to 911 played during the YSL RICO trial.

During the trial on Tuesday (February 20), prosecutors presented a recording of a 911 call placed on September 11, 2013, by an unidentified woman.

On the call, the woman initially identifies the rapper born Jeffrey Williams as the shooter of a mutual friend. However, she later clarifies that she was merely relaying information from an unspecified “someone else” and wanted to ensure that the details were recorded with the police.

“They came to my house and told me that the guy who shot somebody’s name was Young Thug, whoever that’s supposed to be,” the woman said in the recording, while also making clear that the injured friend was not in immediate danger.

YSL RICO Case: Prosecutors Move To Permanently Ban Cameras & Livestreaming From Courtroom

Adding to the unusual series of events, days prior, on Friday (February 16), a defense attorney was apprehended in the courtroom on gang-related charges.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was present in the courtroom on that Friday when Nicole Fegan, the attorney representing Tenquarius Mender, was arrested and accused of participating in criminal street gang activity and soliciting the tampering of evidence. Notably, she had previously succeeded in having Mender’s case separated from those of the other defendants.

However, the charges are not directly linked to the YSL RICO trial. Instead, as reported by the outlet, Fegan was allegedly implicated in an unrelated fatal shooting that occurred at the intersection of Williams and Baker Streets in Atlanta in December 2022.

According to the allegations, Fegan purportedly instructed one of the shooters to dispose of the firearm used in the homicide and allegedly communicated with another defendant regarding an outstanding arrest warrant.

Fegan was taken to processing in Gwinnett County, and will eventually be transported to the Fulton County Jail — which, incidentally, is where the other defendants, including Young Thug, are being held.
