The YSL RICO trial has taken yet another odd turn, as a defense attorney has just been arrested in the courtroom on gang-related charges.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was on hand in the courtroom on Friday (February 16) when Nicole Fegan, Tenquarius Mender’s attorney, was arrested and charged with participating in criminal street gang activity and criminal solicitation to commit the offense of tampering with evidence. She had previously been successful in getting his case severed from the other defendants’ pending cases.

The charges, however, are not directly related to the YSL RICO trial. Rather, according to the outlet, Fegan was allegedly involved in an unrelated deadly shooting on the corner of Williams and Baker Streets in Atlanta back in December 2022. According to the charges, Fegan allegedly told one of the shooters to dispose of the gun they used in the murder and allegedly contacted another defendant about an active warrant for his arrest.

Fegan was taken to processing in Gwinnett County, and will eventually be transported to the Fulton County Jail — which, incidentally, is where the other defendants, including Young Thug, are being held.

Fans of the YSL collective immediately began looking up Fegan’s Instagram upon news of her arrest, with many commenting on posts that they thought were less-than-professional. Amongst the questionable posts include a meme featuring Fegan, where she’s bending down and squinting, with the caption, “when opposing counsel whips out video surveillance of your client and u try to act like u can’t tell who it is.”

Another post featured Fegan sitting on the floor, with racks of dollar bills arranged to spell the word “broke,” and yet another post featured Fegan holding a gun, wearing a spaghetti-strapped black dress, with the caption, “if your man’s name holds weight, you can’t just be out here acting like a regular bitch [100 emoji].”

This bizarre turn of events is just the latest bit of drama in the YSL RICO trial.

Previously, prosecutors filed a motion on January 19 which requested that all livestreaming, and cameras, be banned from the courtroom. The prosecution is citing what’s commonly known as Georgia Rule 22, which lays out strict guidelines for media in the courtrooms.

Prosecutors claim that the motion is necessary to “preserve the integrity of the proceedings.”

“The State is not outright requesting an outright denial of recording in this trial,” the motion reads in part. “Instead, each of the State’s requests is explicitly referenced in Rule 22(G)(2) as an example of a “least restrictive possible limitation” on recording short of denial.”

Before that, early last month, the YSL RICO trial made headlines when somebody watching the hearing on Zoom interrupted to shout, “Free Thug! Mistrial!” twice. But as pointed out by legal journalist Meghann Cuniff, the interruption is not enough to warrant a mistrial.

Before the heckler’s outburst, Young Thug’s brother Unfoonk, who previously accepted a plea deal, sent a message of support to the rapper which read: “I promise God hear us, I wish I can call u and tell I understand now.”

Fans of Thug have repeatedly called Unfoonk a “snitch” since the moment he accepted a plea deal last year. Unfoonk has denied snitching on anybody including his brother.
