Logic recently managed to get Redman, Statik Selektah, and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane all on the same song — but it was a text message from the Funk Doctor Spock that made it an unforgettable experience.
In a STORY TIME video uploaded to his YouTube channel on Wednesday (April 5), Logic recalled the time he took notice of “Da Rockwilder” rapper.

“I’ve been watching Redman since I was a little kid,” he began. “And How High, before I even knew what the fuck Wu-Tang was. I mean, come on. One of the illest MCs of all time.”
So, naturally, when the Newark, New Jersey native sent the “100 Miles and Running” rapper a text message, the world all but shifted on its axis.

“I texted him. I said, ‘Hey, what’s up, bro?’,” he explained. “Redman responds, and he goes, “Logic? Like, the Logic? I was like, life moment unlocked.”

In a previous episode of STORY TIME, the Maryland rapper compared his new album College Park to Eminem’s 8 Mile.
Based on a true story, the album focuses on a day in the life of Logic and his friends in 2011 as they head to an open mic night in Washington D.C. and “the shenanigans they get in along the way.”

“It’s like 8 Mile, except it’s an album,” he said, referencing the Curtis Hanson-directed film which follows a young Detroit rapper (Eminem) as he struggles with every aspect of his life, juggling relationships with friends and foes as he chases his dream of becoming a rap star.
“Expect it’s not B-Rabbit, it’s B-Racial,” he added, seemingly taking another swing at media personality Joe Budden, who previously begged the rapper to retire from music following his divisive singing cover of Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day.”
“It’s a good album and I think you guys are really going to like it,” he added, subtly promoting the release.
Released in February, College Park boasts a diverse and star-studded supporting cast that includes Joey Bada$$, Redman, Bun B, Norah Jones, and more.

The project marked Logic’s first independent album after severing ties with Def Jam in 2022. His final release on the label was Vinyl Days, which he revealed was recorded in just 12 days to accelerate his departure.
