Rick Ross Says Fans Will Hear Passion And Aggression On "Mastermind"

Rick Ross says that "the streets are really going to love" his new album, talks about working with Jay-Z.

Maybach Music Group Kingpin Rick Ross recently announced that his latest LP, Mastermind will release on December 17.

Also recently sitting down with Civil TV, the Miami, Florida native talked about his latest project and said that fans will hear the culmination of Ross' experiences over the last year.

“In the past year I done seen some things, I done been through some things, so you're going to feel that passion and that aggression,” Ross said when speaking about the album. “I think the streets are really going to love this.”

Ross also talked about being featured on Jay-Z's latest release Magna Carta Holy Grail. Spitting a verse on the track “FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotIt," Ross said he heard a lot of the other songs on the album and wanted to bring a southern influence to the cut.

“We wanted to make sure the South was heard,” Ross said when describing the song. “Last time I felt like the South was really heard was on 'Big Pimpin.'"

Finally, Ross said that he's putting "the finishing touches" on a song he's hoping to get Bobby Womack on and that he really respects what Pusha T did with his 2013 release.

Recently, Rick Ross released the trailer for Mastermind, which revealed the release date to the public.

One of the more comical and repetitive things you will see from the sick & twisted brigade of Ross haters is the constant talk of him never going platinum. I actually applaud them to a degree for finding something musical to discuss and debate because normally they would be discussing 50Cents jail record or something homoerotic. How many rappers can say they didn't go platinum from 2006-2013? Would you be surprised if I told you 99%? The fact is that during the span of 2006-2013 only about 20 rappers even went Gold. This era saw a significant drop in sales but 4 new artists have found platinum since then (Nicki, Drake, Mclemore, & Kendrick). Hip-Pop is the new craze and cross marketing with POP stars is the new craze so don't expect Pusha T to go platinum in this lifetime.

"so he can act like he......check it out........"S E L F M A D E" Tell me what park bench you live on so I can roll by and show you a day in the life of someone who has done everything you can't do. You're scared, homie. That's obvious. You won't accept a face to face. You hurl insults cause you're more ugly than Precious inside. I could blame your parents, but that's too easy. You're the one cashing out, embarassing yourself daily. So regardless of what has happened to make you this way rest assured no matter how much time you devote to typing these grade D comebacks, you will never be a man, or gain the respect of one. Real men see tears in your eyes.

"when Ross couldn't do it once between 2006 and 2013 with every major co-sign, features and even MTV crowing him Hottest MC." Even if he did you'd still trash him, and say it doesn't count cause he didn't do it fast enough. He's gotten rich without ever having to sell a million albums. That's impressive.

  • Maxx

It's really not that hard to figure out. If legends like JayZ and Nas have Rozay as the sole artist on their last albums then what does that say about how they view your opinion about Rozay? If certified street dudes like Nipsey Hussle and Pusha T have Rozay on their last albums then what does that say about how they view your opinion about Rozay? Your opinion is worthless to street dudes and your opinion is worthless to legends within the culture of HipHop. You can exhaust yourself with a million posts about Rozay but it means NOTHING to the people that actually matter in this world...the legends within HipHop don't share your opinion and dudes like Beanie Sigel, Kool G Rap, Jadakiss, Styles P, Slim Thug, Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane, Bleu Davinci, Rocko, Meek Mill, Ghostface, Scarface and a hundred other rappers will make music with Rozay, hustle with Rozay and never speak a negative word about Rozay because your opinion is worthless in the streets and in the industry. The rapper that you geeks think is the most fake will do a song with the rapper you think is the most real because at the end of the day they both recognize and realize that they are both more real than YOU and have ZERO respect for your feelings, thoughts and opinions. I hate to break it to you but you don't exist to us and your wasted energy expended on us will only ensure that you die broke and lonely.

I've seen this comment a couple times before.. Do you got like a notebook full of comebacks to use in defending William Roberts honor? Whats in it for you why you go so hard to defend that man? Shit makes you look bad dude. You were the biggest joke on boxden and I see aint much changed!!

    • Anonymous

for people with worthless opinions you seem to spend a lot of time typing up those responses to them LOL I dont know who's more pathetic, the Ross haters or the guy who keeps defending him!!!! If you don't work for MMG you really should!

Real Talk...it's all just entertainment anyways...and at the end of the day its all about money.

  • Bawse

Yeah Ross has been consistent enough to sell Gold in 2006 and still be Gold in 2012. Artist like Jeezy, Tip, & Luda used to be platinum before 2006 but now they are Gold also. Some artists lose fans over a period of time some gain fans. There were no new platinum rappers starting in 2006 when Ross debuted untill 2010 when a Canadian mullatto named Drake went platinum and then Nicki, McKelmore & Kendrick followed. Due to piracy rappers learned that record sales weren't going to feed their families so they branched out and created other revenue streams to get paid.

Ross has been on 3 of the most popular Top 100 hits in HipHop this year staying relevant while he maneuvers on an entrepanurial level. Wale (MMG) has the 5th best selling HipHop album of 2013 with a Gold selling single (Bad)., on tour with J. Cole getting his bread Meek Mill is still the hottest rapper in the streets and constantly on tour due to peeps love of his club bangers and high energy songs. Stalley just released his first retail E.P and his mixtape has been getting heavy critical acclaim. Ross can pretty much cash out and promote his artists, he's made the HipHop Forbes list for the last 5 years and NEVER had to go platinum to do it and this is an era where since Ross debut in 2006 the only new rappers to go Plat are Macklemore, Kendrick, Nicki, & Drake which shows you the direction of the culture in terms of sales. The only people attributing MMGs dip to Ross UOENO lyrics or his image are white geeks online who lurk HipHop forums for G-Unit singles and the new Skylar Grey songs. Hiphop is shifting gears, just look at the singles charts and the fact that the only African-American born artist to sell platinum since 2006 is Kendrick Lamar.

  • From Da Streets

Suburban whites who don't have the street IQ to know the difference between a C.O. and a policeman are still heartbroken that Ross doesnt know Pablo Escobar and that JayZ didn't lose 92 Bricks. The Streets and people who listen to music for entertainment don't concern themselves with weather or not Dr Dre was ever a "Gangsta" or if Pusha T ever sold kilograms or if Snoop ever lived off the earnings of a prostitute....we listen to rap-music for the sound of the instruments and the slickness of the poetry. Suburban whites listen to our music so they can live out a "Ghetto" fantasy through the lives of our rappers which is why they focus so much on what they perceive as real/fake or fabricated/authenticated...our music is their only means of getting a street education so they actually attempt to believe song lyrics are supposed to be biographical criminal confessions..

You have ro forgive this genre of fans, they actually believe that Dr Dre & Ice Cube were gangstas, and that Too Short & Ice T were pimps....they think Tupac was a Thug and that Biggie was a Player. .....one thing that we do know for certain without a shadow of a doubt is that Eminem is a serial killer and that Game & LiL Wayne are Super-Bloods. Don't we miss the Nas Escobar era back when JayZ lost 99 bricks and DMX raped a corpse... back when Jeezy went by LiL J and Snoop Dog was playing Basketball...oh boy! Back in the day when Em' was making corny rap songs dissing Black women and Vanilla Ice could sell 10 million copies of a rap album with out knowing how to rap. Now our top rappers are white guys who cross-dress in videos and former child-stars who rap-sing while the queen of the culture is a Trinidadian Barbie-doll with fake blonde weave in her head led by a skateboarding gangmember who kisses his step-daddy in the mouth. ......Ain't it cool?

You can say what you want about Rozay but you can't deny the fact that he has the most sick and obsessed haters on the Internet. I can't stand Nicki Minaj or her music so I make it a habit to basically ignore her music, her videos and any article about her but Ross has these weird and freakish obsessed haters that spam every song/video/article with the same jokes, insults, rants, diatribes, and rhetoric. It's not normal behavior and it makes you wonder about their mental health. If its little sheltered children or bitter 50 Cent fans then I'd give them a pass but no socially developed adult heterosexual male would display such hateful and sick behavior..

All you ross haters wanna take about being real when most of your favourite rappers aint real. Your all a bunch of hypocryts its been proven. GUCCI MANE is the realest rapper and heres why. 1) all other rappers rap about being gangster shooting and killing but they havent done it. 2) Eminem raps about killing he hasnt. 3)Jay z raps in open letter about sending shots he hasnt. 4)Nas raps about how he is a queens thug but he wasn't. 5)Most of the rappers rap about stuff they havent done yet you all support them and say its real rap. 6)When rick ross does it you all claim he is fake and say its fake rap. This shows that hiphop fans are hypocritical and all these real hiphop fan wanna be's are just some unjustified haters whose opinions are just as irrelevent as the swag fag rapper fans. GUCCI MANE KILLED A MAN HE WAS A DRUG DEALER BEFORE RAPPER HE HAS STREET CREDENTIALS HE IS THE ONLY RAPPER THAT RAPS ABOUT FACTS THERE FORE BIG GUWOP IS THE REALEST RAPPER IN THE RAP GAME AND THATS A FACT!

Really? You were alongside him for 11 years, and you know for a FACT that he didnt slang? Doubt that, specially when real niggaz from Miami vouch for him. Theres so many real niggaz that have vouched for Ross over the years, outside the rap game Not to mention, Ross is from Carol City, the meanest part of Miami. He ran with the Boobie Boys (the gang that ran Miamis drug scene) and Ross was KENNETH BOOBIE WILLIAMS' FUCKING PROTEGE for godsakes Also, Meek is BY FAR the realest nigga in rap (this is not up for a debate). Do you think hed not only work with Ross, but be Ross' right hand man if he thought for one second Ross was a fake? Also, Chief Keef is a real nigga (how long is his rap sheet, specially for a 17 y/o), and hes worked with Ross.

Meeks mom will tell you he wasnt no real dealer he was inside playing video games most of the time

How is meek the realest nigga in the came? He caught like one charge that dont make him real. Doing 8 months for a gun and some drugs aint really shit... niggas like Maino and Saigon went away for years of their lives they dont front like they some big time philly gangsters

You seem to like when you hear a cop rapping. Fatsy Fatt has never done anything illegal, because it's in his blood.

  • Sweet Jones.

My favorite Rozay songs are the passionate ones and the aggressive ones ironically. My fav album is DTR my least fav might be GFID, I like the smoother joints with the symphony type production more than the stripped down club bangers. Oil Money Gang is a dope cut and I hope there's more tracks like that on Mastermind. I like the luxurious songs like Amsterdam and Magnificent.

  • Rick Ross

    I gained 25 pounds yall

  • J The Realest

Lets look at the facts: - To many lame ass niggas making up old jokes that were funny for a minute now there just old. - Ross did lie about his past - The nigga got 3 number one albums and has a buzz no matter what he does. - Everything Ross does draws attention whether it means his dickriders ride for his ass or his haters bitch and moan. - No matter what this album gonna sound just like all his other albums - Yall on here sounding like bitches talkin about another mans past and him opening up niggas butt cracks. Comment on the music.

  • Bobby Hemmitt

You can say what you want about Rozay but you can't deny the fact that he has the most sick and obsessed haters on the Internet. I can't stand Nicki Minaj or her music so I make it a habit to basically ignore her music, her videos and any article about her but Ross has these weird and freakish obsessed haters that spam every song/video/article with the same jokes, insults, rants, diatribes, and rhetoric. It's not normal behavior and it makes you wonder about their mental health. If its little sheltered children or bitter 50 Cent fans then I'd give them a pass but no socially developed adult heterosexual male would display such hateful and sick behavior

So since Public Enemy grew up in Long Island, where there are PLENTY of hoods out there (obviously you don't know), they weren't supposed to be pro black & NOI militant? lol YOU CLOWNS WILL MAKE UP ANY EXCUSE TO RIDE FOR RICK ROSS, THAT'S HOW WE KNOW YOU FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY. THE POINT IS YOU SILLY ASS NERDS, is people DON'T CARE about being a CO, it's HE LIED ABOUT IT. EXPLAIN WHY HE LIED PUNKS AND STOP BRINGING UP OTHER PEOPLE TO JUSTIFY THE FUCKERY.

    • Anonymous

So money is more important than keeping it real! I see

    • Nat Turner

I know people that will kill you over $200 and now you talking about possibly losing millions so you might catch an ass-whooping. The streets might not care if you worked a square CO gig but the streets don't buy CDs the way the suburbs do. You lose your suburban fan base and you lose millions.

    • Anonymous

Im glad you brought up Dj Vlad! Ross was so insecure about his past that he had a man assaulted just for asking about it! What kind of man does that? Thats not real!!!

    • Nat Turner

Why does it bother you so much? What's missing in your personal life that makes you so concerned about Rick Ross lying to Dj Vlad about his teen employment history'? Many people like you questioned if Public Enemy could be spokesmen for the struggle being that they grew up in middle class suburbia. Where you this obsessied when Emenim lied about his racist rap songs? Do you type in all caps and use profanity when a rapper commits criminal acts or violence against others?

"You wanna do me, then you go and tell the people Knock me down, temp drops as the sun rise" These lines, like most lines in this song, probably refers to the Zimmerman-Trayvon incident. Zimmerman slayed Trayvon Martin and then told the people it was in self defense. Perhaps Ross is insinuating that Zimmerman wanted to kill Martin, but acted as if that wasnt his intent. The people refers simultaneously to the jurors and the state of Florida, as criminal prosecutions are brought by the state, known as The People. The second part of the line again refers to Zimmerman, as he knocked Trayvon down first. Many Trayvon defender believe that Zimmerman was the first aggressor. Ross uses a metaphor to compare Trayvon to the sun perhaps he is implying that Trayvons soul rose as he died. Use of the homophone sun anticipates the of the use of the word son in the next line, making Trayvon a symbol for all young black men, including Rosss son. The case hit home for many black families, as they believed it couldve been their son who couldve been killed, even President Obama once said If I had a son, hed look like Trayvon. Very clever wordplay in these two lines by Ross.

  • Ricky Rozay

    • Tupacalypse

I'm confused.....is 1995 the early 90's the mid 90's or the late 90's? This is a question for the ages. Damn 1995 was the year Tupac dropped Dear Mamma almost 20 years, R.I.P Tupac.

    • Anonymous

early 90's? "In 1995, at the age of 19, he graduated from the training academy and was hired as an officer at the South Florida Reception Center, a prison facility. When he resigned two years later, he was earning $25,000 a year."

    • Anonymous

Stealing other trolls' comments? Wow, that's low.

    • Ricky Rozay

Ross was never a cop or a policeman, he worked at SFRC for a little while as a CO back in the early 90's and then quit after a year. Being a CO is a lot more respectable than being a criminal except in HipHop where being a criminal is a BADGE of honor and excitable for the suburban fans who purchase the music for fantasy purposes. I'm from the era where everybody knew that Dre & Cube weren't gangsters but they we still wanted to hear their stories because they came from that environment. I'm from the era where everybody knew that Ice T & Too Short we're not real pimps but we still wanted to hear their stories because they were around that type of lifestyle. I'm from an era where everybody knew that Public Enemy were from the suburbs of L.I., but we valued their militant stance for the struggle because they were still Black men in America. We all know that Biggie wasn't raised in a shack and that Tupac took BALLERINA classes, we know that JayZ shot his own brother and Big Pun pistol-whipped his wife, we can either judge them on their pasts like obsessed losers/loners or we can just enjoy or ignore their music. Let's celebrate the success to these artists who are making legal money and providing for their familes and friends instead of trying to hate them so we feel better about our own lack of success.

"These Bill Oriely types with their reddish pink angry faces always want to blame rap music as glamorizing drug-dealing, murder violence and rape. Without murder, violence and rape Eminem wouldn't have a carrer but Bill Oreily aint even know it, his promotion of drug abuse is however kinda friggin awesome. People on the outside don't see the positives because they aren't from our culture anyway, just like these anonymous bloggers are not from our culture. HipHop music entertains people, they like to listen to the music for enjoyment and go to the shows to party, it makes people feel good. A lot of Black and Latino individuals are eating off of HipHop instead of crime, a label like MMG might have 75 people with careers who are making legal money and improving the lives of their families and communities. Rappers have non-violence concerts, toy-giveaways, turkey-giveaways, scholarship giveaways and do a lot for their communities but if you are not a past of our community then you wouldn't know. Bill Oreiley don't know." LOL Look at this MMG stan making up bullshit to defend his heroes. It's funny and sad.

    • hoot

saying no real nigga can vouch is bollocks, they all fuck with dude, but thats how you know how real dude is, his past after c.o shit is very sketchy and he left a pretty well paid job. Ross is one of the only peeps who doesnt say what i used to do very often, it's always in the present tense, he's very much tired up in shit that could see an incindment by tellin so called stories all these niggas do, half of them aint do it thats why they can tell the story of a crime.

i mean its one thing if you lived that life and are telling your story but to just promote that way of living when you share your real story and be telling kids to go to college and study criminal justice and get a legit 9-5 job....

whats so positive about promoting and glamorizing drug dealing, murder, violence and rape?

    • ^^^

Your comment is full of shit.

I'm an adult and I'm educated in the streets and the schools and I'd say Ross is one of the realest if you base being real on the positive effect you have on peoples lives and your community. You can pay people money to vouch for anything you put in a rap song but the fans who want to believe what they hear on rap records are still children who can't buy a Parental Advisory album anyway.

    • Anonymous

what real shit did he ever do? no real nigga that isnt on his payroll has ever co-signed his past, they say they fuck with him and hes cool but no one can vouch for anything he raps

Ross, whose real name is William Leonard Roberts II, came from a middle-class family with educated parents, earned average grades in high school and was a standout football lineman his senior year. He won a football scholarship, became a prison guard, then, suddenly, completely changed gears.

We should all follow in his footsteps. We will steal the names of famous criminals and their life stories to get rich selling dope dealer fairy tales to white kids in the burbs!

Ricky Ross has 5 albums and you listened to them all? If you knew it was all the same why didn't you stop listening after the 3rd album? Go listen to music you like instead of music you dislike and your life will improve.
