Nicki Minaj Explains Gucci Mane The Artist, Gucci Mane The Person

While speaking in April with Atlanta’s Hot 107.9, Nicki said that she hadn’t spoken to Gucci Mane, who was incarcerated at the time, in quite some time. She explained what she saw as the difference between Gucci Mane the artist and Gucci Mane the person before speaking on the possibility of an intervention to help the rapper, who was also involved in a beef with former affiliate Waka Flocka Flame.

“So, it’s like I separate Gucci the artist from Gucci the person,” Nicki Minaj said in April. “Gucci the person is a sweet, loving, carefree, funny, hardworking dude. And so I never really paid attention to anything he said. In terms of intervention, I think about how talented he is and I kind of wish there was somebody that could step in and say, ‘Gucci, if you only knew how special you were. You would take a moment to really just get centered.’ I just think he really needs to center himself and not to point fingers because I’ve had moments when I needed to center myself. Sometimes you just need to be alone in a meditating type of place and to just kinda block out all the other noise.”

Nicki also said that Gucci Mane revolutionized the underground mixtape world and said that he’s an artist she’ll always have respect for.

“Nobody can ever deny the fact that he kind of revolutionized a lot of things in the underground mixtape world,” Nicki Minaj said in April. “He also spawned a lot of careers…He motivated me a lot. I loved being around him, he’s a hustler. And so, no matter what I will always respect Gucci.”

The series of tweets from Gucci Mane’s twitter account today follow a series of twitter exchanges Saturday (August 7) within the Brick Squad camp boiled over as Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame and others hinted at numerous group problems.

Gucci tweeted Saturday “Fuck bricksquad im. Sucka free. 1017,” an apparent reaction to accusations that Gucci Mane paid the lawyer fees for Young Vito’s trial. Vito was eventually acquitted for the murder of Brick Squad artist Slim Dunkin.

Waka and Gucci would exchange fire through out the day on the social media site and were eventually joined by Waka’s cousin Frenchie (who decided to side with him) and Wooh Da Kid, who would fire off at both Gucci and OJ Da Juiceman.
