Torae, Mr. Porter Featured On Little Brother's LeftBack

The tracklisting for Little Brother's final album boasts hit-makers for Eminem, Duck Down, Slum Village and more.

On April 20, Hall Of Justus Records will release what's already been billed as Little Brother's final album. LeftBack, perhaps considered a sequel to 2007's Getback, is Phonte Coleman and Rapper Big Pooh's final dance together in a career that has changed independent Hip Hop since 2003's ABB Records release The Listening.

With the first two albums including then-group member and producer 9th Wonder, the group would ascend to signing a major label deal with Atlantic Records to release The Minstrel Show. Independent again, LeftBack marks the group's first project away from ABB Records, though it does include familiar voices, including Khrysis (of The Away Team), Darien Brockington, Jozeemo, Carlitta Durand, and Zo!, all of the Justus League family.

Coney Island Brooklyn emcee Torae appears on a song, as former B.R. Gunna producer Young R.J. and fellow Michigan native Denaun "Mr." Porter offer production.

"We wanted the fans to have that moment of nostalgia when looking at this artwork" said Rapper Big Pooh in a statement. "You are able to take a quick journey from the beginning of our careers to the end as Little Brother by glancing at the artwork."

Both Phonte and Pooh have pursued solo projects in recent years.

1. Curtain Call (Prod. By Khrysis)
2. Table For Two Feat. Jozeemo & Yahzarah (Prod. By Khrysis)
3. Tigallo For Dolo (Prod. By Khrysis)
4. Revenge Feat. Truck North & Median (Prod. By Khrysis)
5. So Cold Feat. Chaundon (Prod. By King Karnov)
6. Second Chances Feat. Bilal & Darien Brockington (Prod. By Denaun Porter)
7. Go Off Go On (Prod. By Khrysis)
8. What We Are Feat. Quiana (Prod. By Young R.J.)
9. After The Party Feat. Carlitta Durand (S1 and Caleb’s Who Shot JR Ewing Remix) (Prod. By S1 and Caleb)
10. Two Step Blues Feat. Darien Brockington (Zo’s Purple Suit With The Matching Gators Remix) (Prod. By Zo!)
11. Get Enough Pt. 2 Feat. Khrysis (Prod. By Khrysis)
12. Before The Night Is Over (Prod. By J.Bizness)

  • peterblunt

....this is similar to Tribe.....FOR REAL....we didn't appreciate what we had when we had it, so no one can complain about these cats not being together....they laced us with hot music for's time to grow....a la..time to "go"...yeah I'm upset but I ain't mad. Continue to support these cats as they do their individual thing and you won't have to "miss them". (Patrick D...."9th"----DO YOU!!!!......stay up.....stay "TRUE") ....Pooh and Tay gonna be alright....and who knows ...maybe one day they might get back together.....***(remember nobody thought Pete Rock and CL Smooth would ever look at each other again, and they were on stage just last year.....)---who knows what the future....but we won't see unless we accept the present first... 1

Thank for you suupert and Honest agendas. I have move on. Seriously, me, , Pooh and Tigga low have moved from barely paying phone billsand splitting cans of sun kist too Nextus one and Multiple phone lines . I myself as producer graduated. I wanted another album cause I HAVE NOTHING BUTLove For pooh and Phonte....but reguardless, I'm not a puppet. I make beats and no less than 30 beats a week. They can go in different direction...I stay in my lane as a producer.I submitted 15 track ment for other prominent artist for this album but I guess they decide not to use them......So ok, I'm about real hip hop and Jamelia Records...Shots outto all the fans...You can call me outdated but lm orginal and keep it 100. Me and Pooh still. Me and Phone ain't no beef...We moved On....Shot out to Zo! Krysis...Keep it gutter. Peace....Wonderful1

Get Back was hot. "When everything is new" is my morning jont. hip hop needs cats that can flow on a variety of subject like LB can. lookin forward to da new album

  • Dj Fyness

The listening classic!! Everything after that "Instant Vintage"... Probably one of the most under rated hiphop group/duo of our times... This album will be a definate purchase..

  • kpanilaryea28

i agree with my man little brother is still hot without 9th wonder. we all know minstruel show is classic but getback was still hot and you folk dont know what you talking bout. it had some hot production. besides khyrsis is just as hot as 9th wonder in my opinion he delivers some dope ass shit. i cant figure why 9th aint give em at least one or two beats though but regardless it will be a solid cd and i will get it off itunes or something! north cack represent!

  • Dm123

you guys are fools. with the production they have on this album they dont need 9th, get over it. khrysis, young rj, zo!,king karnov, s1. you guys dont know those names kill yourself. i rather hear little brother over illmind khrysis and s1 beats then the same ol 9th beats. 9th has fallen off and his style is outdated. they moved on 9th moved on why cant you bitter ass fans do the same?

    • g

i agree the production is gonna be held down by these katz. LB fans shouldn't fret. BUt getback's production was a 6 outta ten, but i know little brother will go out with a bang! i jus know it!

    • DRJ2010

9th is not outdated homie...That's almost like saying Pete Rock and DJ Premier are out dated...A style of production is just a style of production and that's as simple as that...Little Brother and 9th weren't very close to begin with...From what I heard is that 9th just met Phonte and big Pooh through college so it's not like they knew each other since child hood forever or something...You can't diss 9th Wonder or Little Brother...Both parties have moved on respectively and have decided to make and accomplish musical history in other different arenas of the game...

  • AgenT_Zer0

  • sactowndude

this is like a guru album without premier. gonna be wack just like getback. phonte gave up on the group, so i will too and just download. lol, not gonna pay for a half baked album. Thanks alot phonte

    • kpanilaryea28

no way hoss you cant compare them niggaz to gangstarr, guru really cant hang wo premier but lb can still come wit it wo 9th! besides 9th is hot but his production is starting to sound too generic now.

  • blackartdepot

I guess good things come and go but I can't say I like this one bit. I wish them both success in the future though in there solo endeavors. I'm really interested to see when Phonte will put together a true solo effort. Hopefully, he'll get major label distribution via Hall of Justus or his own label. - Haasim (

  • Nope x10

No way. Little Brother without 9th Wonder is like Harold Melvin without The Bluenotes, you'll never Phonte, Pooh... best of luck. Your publishing and my money have a restraining order. Shame on egos.

  • AxeMurder

2 of the tracks are old...remixes This is gonna be a sad day, 420. LB will be gone. I'm glad Khrysis has half of the production, nigga is nicer than 9th anyway

    • RJ20

You guys sound brainless just shitting on 9th for no reason...If Khrysis is so good then why hasn't he been able to get calls from the likes of Jay-Z,NAS,Styles P,etc... 9th has worked with Boot Camp Click,Capone-N-Noreaga,Ludacris,Styles P,David Banner,Sadat X,De La Soul,Jay-Z,NAS and Damien Marley,etc...and Khrysis has only gone as far as Boot Camp Click,KRS-One,The Justice League,Evidence,Masta Ace,and that's about it...So you might wanna bite your fucking tongue before you even try to shit on 9th...Plus 9th won his Grammy Award from working with miss Mary J. Blige...Now I''ve heard Khrysis and yes he has some good hot hittin shit but he still has a long ways to go especially with trying to work with the rap guys up on top unless he just wants to continue to stay sunken under water because he has yet to work with any big name rappers in the game so Khrysis had better step it up because he's taking too long to get his name further than what it already is...Meaning that he needs to get in a studio with at least Jay-Z or NAS because 9th has already been there and done that...So don't start the shit with saying Khrysis is better than 9th...Yall just sound a little pissed at 9th as if he chose not to be on this new Little Brother album...If anything that's Phonte's dumb bitter ass that's pulling strings...He could've vouched for 9th to get in on this...I'm not too much up on Phonte anyways because he's arrogant and thinks he knows it all but still lays down in the dark dungeon and could possibly wind up being a slept on underrated MC that never body really cared or gave a fuck about...Phonte is aiight but he's not spitting nothing better than any other MC I've ever heard...To me he's just another rapper...I'd choose Black Thought or Elzhi over Phonte any day...

    • Brian Kidd

I agree with you axemurder. Since 9th left, Khrysis has been stepping his game and has surpassed 9th. To me 9th has fallen off hard in the production game.
