The Case For Lil Wayne

    Let’s break it down.

    1. Longevity does not equal GOAT. He doesn’t rap good enough or ever said any impactful enough to be considered a GOAT. This is a mute point.

    2. There is absolutely no argument that can be made that would convince me that Lil Wayne should be considered the greatest of all time. I will say that Wayne from 2002-2008 was extremely talented but from that point on he has put out absolute garbage. You’re telling me that, because he has released a massive amount of content over the last decade, we should somehow catapult him into GOAT discussion? And there was nothing ‘consistent’ about his material – it’s gotten progressively worse since 2008, something you vaguely elude to in the video, saying how he has leaned on ridiculously bad lines such as ‘Dear Mr. Toilet – I’m the shit’ for OVER a decade. So not only do I not agree, I really, truly don’t understand how someone could feel this way and don’t see how anyone else could either. He had a run of 5-6 years where he was putting out quality content and has only stayed relevant by riding the coattails of Drake for sometime after that period.

    3. Lil wayne cann stop being goat if ever anybody else drops a better album than carter2 Most influental rapper of 00s. All those new rappers is weezy’s child. You can see his style in every rapper

      1. Lol. Tha Carter 2 has some good songs but get real. Blueprint, Stillmatic, Black album, Marshall mathers LP, Eminem show, food and liquor, the cool, college dropout, get rich or die trying, late registration, American gangster, graduation… All albums better than any in Wayne’s catelogue released in the 00’s off the top of my head. I’m sure if I put legit thought into it I could come up with more. I get you love wayne, but come on.

        1. carter 2 doesnt just ”has some good songs” the whole album is fucking fire, that flow on the whole album….Its just excellent and unreachable so far.All those albums you counted are great, some of them lyrically better maybe, some of them better produced but noone of them gives me feels like c2 does. I guess you just need a re-listen.

    4. In my opinion, rappers who are confirmed to have ghostwriters should be automatically removed from the conversation as it pertains to being “the g.o.a.t.”.

    5. Pac made me love hiphop but Lil Wayne made me fall in love with hiphop.New School’s most influential rapper! A poet! One Of The Greatest Rappers Of All Time!! Only those with the shortest of memory & haters would disagree with his case for being the GOAT!

    6. I had been thinking that it was only a matter of time when people would start giving Wayne the credit he deserves. Distance is needed to truly appreciate an artist’s work and when Wayne was at his best circa 2003-08 and rightly proclaimed himself the “best rapper alive”, few people were willing to accept the claim. Now almost a decade later we can sit back and analyze the man’s work and truly comprehend the genius of the man. Wayne has delivered lyrical verses which have been deep, provoking, playful and with sick punchlines, sometimes all in one breath. No one will ever be able to replicate his free flowing stream of conscious rap. He has heavily influenced two of the greatest rappers of this generation – Kendrick and Drake, not to mention giving birth to a whole different sound in hip hop. His cultural impact is undeniable. Give the man the respect he deserves.

    7. Guyszzzz please put out one of these on Jay Z and Nas. I’d like to have all living “GOAT”‘s to choose from. See what kind of argument y’all make about them, then I’ll make my decision

    8. The case he’s making ill give some credit ? to.not going to take anything away from tunchi because im feeling some of his shit.my issue with the goat claim is that.Wayne’s not consistent .for all the hard work he’s done his résumé should be on par with guys like Jay-Z .who back to back can put out a whole album tjats consistently good.carter 3 and 4was mostly filler .its the one constant thing in his career.having a whole bunch of singles but not being able to put together a great album with consistency dont make you goat.the reality is the sum of the parts don’t add up too the whole.Wayne’s good at making a quick single here and there.but when u get down to it he couldn’t come up with a album full of good tracks.case and point Jay-Z’s blueprint 3 classic rap album just about every track on that album was hott.when Jay-Z get’s in the booth .he dont mess around his reps on the line so its only the very best or bust …Wayne’s no goat but i would put him in honorable mention

    9. I ɢᴏᴛ ʜᴏᴏᴋᴇᴅ ᴏɴ ʜᴀᴠɪɴɢ ᴀɴ ᴏɴʟɪɴᴇ ʙᴜsɪɴᴇss ᴀʟᴍᴏsᴛ ᴀ ᴅᴇᴄᴀᴅᴇ ᴀɢᴏ ᴡʜᴇɴ I ᴄʀᴇᴀᴛᴇᴅ ᴀɴ ᴏɴʟɪɴᴇ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ᴍᴀᴅᴇ ᴍʏ ғɪʀsᴛ…

    10. Lil Wayne had potential to be a GOAT BUT he’s not. For all the witty verses he delivers, there’s 10 of the exact same generic, weak, half assed verse. Over and over and over the guy raps the exact same thing. Starts by talking about fucking pussy then goes off about money. He’s lazy… LOAT? His creativity is on a downward spiral. Carter III should have been his last album. Complete garbage since that. Weezy seems to struggle with remaining relevant via YMCMB but his glory days were when he grew into a true artist via CMM. I feel like the likes of Mannie Fresh and the Hot Boys challenged Weezy to stay sharp and innovative. Baby’s always been weak on the mic so his skills dulled when his label disintegrated. Unfortunately for YMCMB, Drake and Nicki Minaj DO have talent, you just don’t see it all that often. My final thought, anyone who creates a song like Lollipop will never be a GOAT contender.

    11. Lil Wayne? Goat? Lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    12. I guess it depends on who you are. Probably most millenials may say that. By far he has the biggest influence on the new generation of rappers. Everybody flows like him. If you were born earlier, you had rappers who may not have put out as much material but it was felt way much wider scale.

I think him and Kanye are the kings of 1 liners. You cant remember whole songs, but you can remember a couple of slick lines every now and then. Before hand… rapppers’ whole songs had to be hot. The audience checked for total solidarity.

    13. Wayne was the best rapper alive for a moment, and if he would have stayed in that place you could make the argument. But he fell off after he went to jail.

    14. Lil’ Wayne just hinted on Rocafella. YT: Lil Wayne Changes lyrics to ‘Im a Muthaf*ckin ROCAFELLA Millionaire’ while Performing in LA.

    15. You gotta do one on Lupe Fiasco. He has at least two classic albums under his belt. One of the dopest MCs of all time.a GOAT

    16. Dude your reasons are terrible they are all pop culture reasons. His beats are terrible and his lyrics are average. To compare him with Rakim, Big Daddy Kane or any other great you should shoot yourself. He has zero classic albums, u guys act like all albums are classic if they sell. This is rap not hip hop!

    17. Lil Wayne is a legend and ran the game in the mid to late 2000’s.
Anyone who disagrees are idiotic Eminem stans who can barely speak or understand English and only heard one song.
Tha Carter II, Tha Carter III, SFTW, Dedication 2, No Ceilings, Free Weezy Album, etc.

    18. Lil wayne is one of the greatest of all time and is still one of the only rappers that still going hard till this day. He is definitely in my top #3….
