HipHopDX Premiere. The Summer Of Strange Tour made an L.A stop earlier this month where Stevie Stone, MAYDAY! and Krizz Kaliko performed a TeamBackPack cypher.
I’m 40 years old the 1st generation of the REAL Backpack music: O.C., Main Source, Pharcyde,Cella Dwellas, The Roots,J Live etc.. We would have thought(and still think) these guys are jokes.
These guys would rap circles around most 90s backpack rappers, but i dont think thats what they’re trying to be. although great during their time,90s backpack was mostly one dimensional, these guys can freestyle,hit punch lines, be choppers,be introspective, and add musicality. And they are all almost 30. not some new school 20yr olds.
