      1. Bullsh*t. Most of the time you see an additional name on writer’s credits, it’s the producer because creating a beat is labeled as “writing” music.

    1. Drake King of rap… No. Best mainstream rapper, Sometimes, that title alternates between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole. I’m not knocking Drake for using ghost writer’s but you can’t claim the crown from Rappers who write all their own lyrics when your using someone else’s Creativity. It’s the equivalent of steroid use in sports or scaming your way to a position you didn’t earn. Now if he wants the title of King of Rap I’m sure he could get it. You don’t garner respect from your peers AND predecessors with out certain level of talent. Drake just needs to rely more on his own lyrical ability.

    2. @jhazmine Kendrick & J Cole have people writing for them as well, do a little research, your opinion is invalid.

      1. Majority of The writers creds on TPAB like 97% are from instrumentalists, producers, sample creds, and even production/music companies.

      2. @Lit How about you do your own research instead of posting baseless facts, stop spreading fake rumours you imbecil.

    3. we still have no evidence drake writes his bars or doesnt but he probably using collaborators, So did Nas and Ghostface…that doesnt disqualify anyone. In fact, Illmatic had plenty of editing by Large Profressor. Are you gonna exclude Nas and Ghostface from GOAT discussion? Then, you cant exclude Drake

    4. To a LOT of people (including some of his fans) he is automatically disqualified at this point. You can’t be called the greatest rapper alive or ever and get exposed for having a cheat sheet. The Quentin Miller Saga gave me a greater appreciation for guys like Kendrick and Cole. TPAB is a masterpiece. We never have to question Cole or Kendrick’s writing ability…they are cemented as two of the best lyricists of our generation. Drake can still have a career that mimics Jay Z’s and chase “hit” records…but it’s the depth of the content that moves the people. i feel like the reference track issue will follow him his whole career, but his fans will still love him. After all, they came out to see a show and Aubrey is their favorite actor.

      1. the problem with the arguement for disqualifying Drake is: (1) Quentin Miller denies any ghostwriting and claims to have studied Drake (2) Quenten Miller is a credited collaborator (3) The reference tracks for RICO, Used To and Know Yourself act as strange evidence as the finalized versions are completely different and the reference tracks comprise mostly of hooks, which all rappers, even lyricists have got help with. With RICO, only a mere 3-4 bars are the same. The rest of the verses are completely different. 10 Bands is the most damning and best evidence as it is one verse and hook but even then it is still very different
        (4) There is no evidence that Quenten Miller didnt sing or rap lyrics already written by Drake (5) Nas, Ghostface and plenty of top lyricists have has help editing or have used entire verses on classic tracks. Nas’ Illmatic was edited by Large P (6) Kendrick and J Cole are great but we dont know if they used or did not use collaborators. I bet they have as it is common in hiphop.

    5. I’ma sum this irrelevant topic up. Drake is the King of Entertainment..especially for the fans who like to count another mans pockets or only listen to the radio. His value has nothing to do with being real telling the truth or speaking on socially relevant issues… That being said King Kunta won..Peace on the Internets

    6. I’m actually being tired of Aubreys defenders using the argument that others have used writers, collaboraters etc..no one in the history of hiphop has been caught with not one reference track but four? Not only that if he he’s adamant about his innocence why won’t he answer the allegations head on he’s ducking all blogs, interviewers etc his silence is admission of guilt…

      1. Reference tracks are very common in hiphop. Producers provide these to explain how to rhyme over the beat. Nas had appeared to have several for Untittled. just was never released. Plus realize everyone wants to “get Drake”. Big difference.

      2. Reference Tracks are not common with the real artist. Yes DRAKE, LIL WAYNE, NELLY, JA RULE. All had or have ghost writers, a lot of us already knew that but I haven’t heard any of them having reference tracks at all but DRAKE and I’m in the industry buddy.

The bottom line is this… We are never going to see eye to eye about this topic. If you use ghostwriters. We have to question your skills. If you use reference tracks we have to question your love for the culture.

    7. Like I said haters, check the credits on your favourite rappers’ album OR should I say the numerous writers on each song? haha

      1. Not every artist uses a ghostwriter dickhead. Stop making excuses for drake by trying to throw every other rapper under the bus.

    8. WHY WOULD YOU BE ASKING IF SOMEONE IS THE KING OF HIP HOP WHEN YOU HAVE THE PROVE HE USING A GHOST WRITER – I THINK THIS IS WHAT MEEK IS TRYING TO POINT OUT , COS HE BEEN GIVING DRAKE PROPS AS ONE OF THE BEST , BUT SINCE HE FOUND OUT . IT”S OVER

    9. To all those who are saying that ” even other rappers have credited writers”… The Dream can write a hook for Jay Z or maybe conceptualize the song, that will make a credited writer, but Jigga will spit his bars. But Drake is using reference tracks and he adjusts a couple of lines, how do you justify that?

    10. Of course he’s the king! I’ve been in the closet about this for a while but I can’t let people judging me for liking light skin singing rappers anymore hold me back from letting them know it’s true! Salute to Drake the king!

    11. Drake supporters biggest excuse iis trying to claim that every rapper uses ghostwriters. I’m sorry but just because your favorite artist got caught for doing it doesn’t mean everyone else is guilty of it. Stop fronting and stop trying to throw every other rapper under the bus. That’s hoe shit.

    12. This is just a silly debate. Hiphop cannot have a king for 2015… There are hiphop greats and honestly drake hasn’t gotten there yet!!!!
