Not once did Drake say “You have a mental illness, so let’s all point our fingers and make fun of you”. No. What Drake did, in my eyes was TOTALLY legal (if there is such a thing) in beef on wax. He poked at Kid Cudi’s presumed drug habits and associated it with his full flight from reality. All social media has done has ran with it and made note that Drizzy is “kicking a man while he’s down.” If I am not mistaken the EXACT words Eminem used at the end of his “Quitter/Hit Em Up” diss track against Everlast. Matter of fact, Em’s exact words were “I’m sorry I just believe kicking a man while he’s down”. And Em went on a lyrical onslaught about a man who had just got out of the hospital for having a heart attack and it’s been praised as a classic diss track by many publications. Now let’s turn our attention to Nas and Jay’s beef. There wasn’t much lower that either of the 2 MC’s could’ve gone in that beef aside from getting into a physical altercation. Nas claimed that Jay had a sexual relationship with an underage female (ala Foxy Brown around Reasonable Doubt era) as well as making all sorts of other accusations regarding his sexuality, his accused abuse by women at a young which could be considered a jab at someone’s mental state. Etc… Then you have Jay on the other coin who said what he said (I had sex with you wife, and not in those words, I want to see you dead – Makaveli reference lol). And until he dropped “Super Ugly” was praised for his lyrical prowess. But once Jay said Nas’s young’n was sitting in a pool of Jay’s seimen, he took it too far. To some degree, I can agree with that on that other hand, it was a bold diss and a pretty clever one at that lol.
Now back to this Aubrey vs. Cudi business. This is baby soft. I mean, this compares to NOTHING when it gets put into the realm of rap beef. Cudi went at Kanye and Drake directly with a personal jab that he shouldn’t have said. And for Drake to take a stance and diss him on wax, fuck yeah! I’m glad he did it. This is hip-hop. Part of this whole culture was based around battling other MC’s for respect. You hear the stories about DMX, Jay, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Big L, Mase, etc… All battling each other since they were in high school trying to make a come up. And look at them all today. All legends in their own regard. I mean, we’ve seen the footage of Eminem. He’s been battling since he was a kid and at the most disadvantage because he was white. I mean we all saw 8 Mile. They held nothing back when dissing Em as he played B Rabit. This is what hip-hop is all about. Em’s been getting dissed about his drug habits for years. Ja Rule dissed 50 Cent for getting shot and nearly dying. I’m not saying this is nice stuff to say, but compared to what Drake said to Cudi, it’s childish. And here’s the icing on the cake…
What Cudi said on Twitter in response to Drake’s diss while he’s in rehab totally takes any validity of we should be feeling bad for him away in my eyes. This dudes supposed to be away from social media and working on his mental state and still finds time to get on Twitter, diss Drake by physically threatening him, basically trolls his fans by saying he’s going away for a while to get help, and then pops up on one of the wackest of platforms to promote his beef and not own that he started all this to begin with? He’s officially lost all credibility with me and I believe Drake should go harder because of it. As far as Pusha T goes… In the words of Eminem in his great response to Benzino in his “Nail in the Coffin” diss track… “Let it go dawg, it’s over”. Cuz if I was Drake, I’d only give Pusha half a bar, something like “Fuck y’all niggas!”
Push will take a giant shit on Drake. Cudi is a pussy. He fucked up going at Pusha T. All of Hip-hop has Push’s back. Everyone is turning on Drake slowly.
That’s def not true, wayne could harm drake, J. cole, Kendrick could bury him. There are even less popular rappers like big krit and freddie gibbs that could do damage to drake if they wanted. People always think that the most popular rapper at the time is untouchable it’s just not true. Even as popular as drake is he will eventually come down I don’t know how far down but look at where 50 cent once was, nelly, ja rule, even wayne . Drake is protected by the machine the same way Em has been for years, Interscope sent the feds on Murder Inc. Kendrick can’t go at Drake because of Interscope, Dre and Jimmy still controls Kendricks moves even though Jimmy is no longer at Interscope. They can’t let kendrick go at drake and potentially destroy him because of what drake is doing for Apple music he is one of their biggest artist. One day drake will mess around and poke the wrong person someone that isn’t a slave to the machine like Kendrick, me personally I think that person is Big Krit , but drake is smart and has a smart management team he knows who to stay away from and who to take jabs at
Another ridiculously long post defending drake.. typical. Yal some dick riders.. drake can get lyrically destroyed.. or do some really lame ass shit and you will all find away to defend dude.
Lmao. You really didn’t read my post did you? I didn’t defend Drake as he’s a great rapper. I defended him in his approach that he wasn’t wrong for going at Cudi and pretty much calling pu$$ies like you soft because y’all get ya feelings hurt when someone you don’t like disses your little homotional artist in rehab for “suicidal tendencies”. Step back and try to understand what you read and know your hip-hop history before you even think of commenting on my post. Ride that D? I bet you do…
Oh I read it.. that whole fking book you wrote.. and I agree with the fact he didn’t go to far. I think for the most part it’s all fair game. I never said anything about loving cudi either. I like cudi, but I’m not some super fan. I know my history.. lol don’t know what I said that implied I cared about cudi.. or that I don’t know shit about hip-hop. Lol You clearly know your shit.. but you wrote all that just to back up drake.. like all that shit just to say I side with drake. Then you end it with some lame shit.. Drake should only give dude half a bar.. unless I misunderstood that.. that just sounds real typical of people backing Drake.. don’t respond.. or he doesn’t have to respond because he’s on another caliber.. That’s just as weak as cudi and all these other dudes twitter dissing. Nice come back too.. flip what I said about D riding and say it back. Your definitely a Drake fan. Can’t even write your own comeback.

How you gonna call out cudi and drake for being soft when, whether you like them or not, they’re two of the few rappers in this day and age who positively influence our today’s youth -especially cudi- instead of rapping about gangbanging bullshit just to get a check
Hey man they’re soft I’ll give you that but it’s still sad that hip hop has to scrutinize artists for being “soft” and talking about things they actually go through. We should be criticizing all these “hard” artists for encouraging people to do dumb shit that they would never actually do. I’d rather be soft than fake and that’s the truth
Who’s scrutinizing their softness? I see it as calling it like it is.
Also, it’s possible to have a rap beef without being soft or encouraging people to do dumb shit. Step 1: When making a diss, actually diss your opponent with humorously clever punchlines that point out actual character flaws. Step 2: profit. There are plenty of “hard” diss tracks that don’t resort to ignorant threats of violence.
“Nigga you barely living. Don’t you got sickle cell. Seen you have a seizure on stage. You ain’t living well.” Pac said that about Prodigy from Mobb Deep. And as a person who has had friends and family die from sickle cell, I acknowledge those words as going too far. But I kept it in the context of hip hop because I know Pac would never say that about a non-rapper who he had an ordinary dispute with. The realm of hip-hop is a show. It’s bravado, sensitivity, getting personal, etc. etc. Funny how lightly a threat about shooting a dude is taken , but people get up in arms about less serious things. Sickle cell, depression, etc are very serious, no doubt. But there’s treatment and recovery for those. Shooting somebody is much different, yet those disses are never seen as “too far.”
I think that was an excellent breakdown of the past Ether/Takeover “beef”. As far as the current KID CUDI and Drake “beef”, my comment would be that i think it’s kind of messed up that Drake did do KID CUDI like that while he is hospitalized for mental issues. But it is hip hop and nothing is off limits. Personally I don’t think that this will be on the level of JAY Z/NAS or B.I.G./2PAC beef but it is something to listen to I guess. I don’t think anyone is checking for this honestly. But it keeps the hip hop world active. Great article @TheCompanyMan #HHDX
DX and the writers on this site CANNOT call HipHop soft without acknowledging they are also part of the problem. HipHop media is just as “soft” as the rappers, and all you f u ckers do is coddle these guys. I still remember when Ural wrote a book about how offended he was by the skit on Dr. Dre’s Compton album, where that dude killed his girl on the skit. LMAO. A Dr. Dre album, what did you expect you soft F U C K!? I still remember Young Thug making the best albums of the year and not Yelawolf, or Wiz Khalifas album getting a higher rating than Crooked I’s. THE MEDIA IS SOFT. And Hip-Hop suffers because you PUSH garbage. Of course the game is soft when every other article is about Drake. No one wants to call BS B U L L S H I T because thy’re scared it’ll hurt their careers down the line. Stop acting like every rapper that pops up is the new big thing and just call it what is is: GARBAGE. Young Thug, Slim Jesus, Yatchy, Future, whoever else you choose to d i c k ride next month is just the flavor of the week. So until you can own up to the fact that you’re SOFT as journalist don’t expect the game to be any less than a reflection of that.

What approach do you think Push will take?
Push will take a giant shit on Drake. Cudi is a pussy. He fucked up going at Pusha T. All of Hip-hop has Push’s back. Everyone is turning on Drake slowly.
To be the best u need to takeout the best! We all kno that Drake runs hip hop/Rap and RnB! U can’t b the best if u f*ck with Drake!
Push don’t have a chance, Drake gon come out on top no matter who goes at him. It’s just how it is now (and has been) popularity trumps talent.

These dudes are soft as marshmallows. These are the corniest high profile rap beefs in the history of the genre.

Hunter what’s wrong with being civil if anything this is growth for hip hop

If you grew up listening to Pac and Biggie and Wu Tang and N.W.A then your Drake and Kid Cudi seem like Young M.C and The Fresh Prince
Im just sayin
