I’m not even watching the video.I’m not going to entertain how ridiculous this statement is.You’re basing this off a man who hasn’t dropped an official debut solo LP ever and has only done cameos since his last batch of original work with big boi which was in 06 with Idlewild.Got it..smfh..3 Stacks is beyond dope but you can’t give him that title when other artists have been just as consistent and have released current music. There is a reason great artists are considered legends. They have been consistent with releasing great work or died with their best work at the time. What’s his excuse?
Dre purposely tries 2 b different. He’s NOT even in the top 20 goats..big Boi way more lyrical & productive. Did Justin even listen 2 “the love below” before considering him the greatest rapper?!? He deserves props 4 bein the 1st Gay rapper.
I think the people that are commenting are putting too much focus on lack of recent work. Andre is the GOAT, because of lasting INFLUENCE on the industry. He has inspired sooooo many artists… hell, some of your favorite artists are heavily influenced by him.
On top of that… how many rappers can say they have 3 classic albums?? They broke barriers by being themselves and making hits of songs labels said couldn’t be hits.
He didn’t make 1 Classic album. Outkast did. As far as the artists he influenced, no one can argue any of that. On that aspect he is up there with Face, or maybe a hair behind him influence wise (Drebis a better MC though). There is no way to put him ahead of B.I.G., Pac or even someone like KRS, BDK, Rakim… sorry. There’s apples, oranges and then there are plums buddy. Plums don’t suck, but they aren’t contenders.
3,4,5,6,8 and 10 could be agrued in favor of. Lupe and common are new booty cry babies. RZA isn’t even top 5 of the Wu. A horrible MC. Not hate, my opinion…
Ever since he started singing and appeared with this hat, I’m not fucking with him. Period. His last album was over 10 years ago. Never did a solo album officially. Since his last album he has done a couple of really dope cameos, Namely “KIDs” with ATCQ. He smashed that whole album. A legend for sure, but nowhere in the top five, or my personal Top 10. 1. Rakim. 2. Big Daddy Kane 3. Krs. One (BDP) 4. Notorious B.I.G. 5. Tupac 6. Eminem 7. MF DOOM (Zev Love X from KMD) 8. Jay Z 9. Nas 10. Big L. Notice I don’t have one West Coast Nigga on there. Before youball yell Tupac, he was actually from NY. i am a L.A. mother fucker BTW. Just my list.
Great list, though I’d switch out Biggie for Masta Ace and Cube for Kane. And I’m pretty sure that most people would recognize MF Doom rather than Zev Love X lol.
I fuck with 3 stacks but dude overrated af closes thing to a solo album he has is the love below. He hasn’t been proven to carry a album by himself without any help from big boi. Can’t be the greatest of all time with ANY solo discography
Nah. Tech is a good lyricist, great even, but he’s so boring and overrated. And his fans are as bad as juggalos. By your standards, Macklemore would be one of the greats, too, and he definitely is not.
I have the up most respect for 3staxx but come on the goat his only solo album wasn’t even a hiphop album hes like an acquired taste pause i cant even put him in the top 20 of all time
I doubt you’ve heard much of his music, if so, then he’d be in your top 10. FOH sayin he ain’t even top 20?? Matter of fact, anyone who has Big, Jay and Lupe above Dre 3000 don’t know hip hop.
Biggie lived with his mother BROKE . Nas foreclosed on a 3 BEDROOM house in the ATL he BROKE . RAKIM BROKE . NY always rating their artist at the top of the List no no no NY . How when NY Beeeeen fell off . TUPAC The Greatest of all time . Biggie Slept on PAC COUCH . YEA I SAID IT
Da nigga oughtta just drop a incognito album to quiet the pundits. But I agree with the Chappelle comparison doh. He knows that people are salivating for his solo but I gave up on it like the Detox….he in my top 12 dat bout it….check dem joints out on Cudi album…novacane!
Y’all guys really be disrespecting jay z out here he literally set at the top of rap for 20 years until he stopped, what’s Crazy is y’all quick to name Em and even Em said Jay was the best… Every respectable rapper of his era and after still call jay z the goat right now!!! What is it! He stayed at the top to long so y’all find reasons not to give him his jus do!!!! This nigga is a master at rapping, metaphors, his live show flow and delivery is impeccable! I can’t understand why most of y’all favorite rappers respect who he is but y’all wannabe hip hop heads can’t. Jay did so much for this genre and y’all jus wont give him his just do. It’s like people gotta die before y’all admit who they are.. You people would be disrespecting Pac and big if they were alive. The masses think HOV the host including lost his rap peers but y’all jus can’t respect it hunh!
Jay is pop rap garbage with dumbed down lyrics (which he admits to), he hasn’t crafted songs with anywhere near the inventive and thoughtful lyrics Andre has. FOH
You dumb wannabe dead worldstar idiot. Em “It goes Reggie, JayZ, 2Pac and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me” … and obviously em was lying. Em, Nas, and 3 Stacks in the first tier, Jay Pac and Big in the next tier, Jada Kurupt and Redman are solid but not choices for goat.
Never was really a fan of Andre but then again I can not say I have listened to enough of his stuff so kina neutral in this. I feel though even if I did I would not agree, specially with the likes of Nas, Rakim, pac and even Em. It is all about what you like. Some people think Lil B is the greatest of all time not that he is but if you think that then all power to you. That is what makes us the greatest most powerful species on the planet, own thoughts, opinion and self determination. White black brown whatever we have the same mind. Embrace it.
Andre 3000 is one of the best ever but not the best. You need at least two classic solo albums to even be in goat conversation. Chuck D is an exception because he primarily handled rap responsibilities for Public Enemy. With that said my ever evolving personal list is:
1. Rakim
2. Tupac
3. Big Daddy Kane
4. Chuck D
5. Jay Z
6. LL Cool J
7. Guru
8. Nas
9. Ice Cube
10. Roc Marciano (Underground goat)
“3 Stacks is king of the features..nothing more” – uhhh…. he was half of the group that have made at least 3 of the best hip hop albums in the history of the culture. That’s a little more than just ‘king of the features’.
Can we please get a Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, and Andre 3000 track! I would also love to see a Drake, Cole, Kendrick, Krit, and Sean track. Last I want to see a Jay Electronica, Lupe Fiasco, Black Thought, and Common track.
The best rapper is not even born yet. That’s to tell you that ya’ll just rambling about nothing on this forum pretty much. But, just to entertain this convo, what are the requirements that qualify ANY emcee to be considered the best of all time. A lot have claimed the title and many have argued their opinions. This is the problem with Hip-Hop now as a culture, we have too many opinions and no set rules that we are serious about. Where is the booklet written by the elites in the culture that gives us the rules and principles? I need to know, what are these pioneers in the hip hop business doing to fix that problem? You got these kids influenced by people who don’t even care about them and those people sit in their big mansions thanking God and the hood for showing love while these white kids (young females who want to be down) buying all their albums and keeping them rich. Now, the game is not a game when it comes to changing the mindset of an entire generation-from Generation to Generation. You know Hip Hop is important to the elites when they let Barack Obama organize a showcase at the white house. So, I say all that to say, Hip-Hop needs a University or a Mecca solely focusing on teaching the history and future of the culture as a whole. Hip-Hop has replaced religion in may ways for many people as far as influencing people and their views. It needs to be institutionalized and recognized as a privately black owned institution period. And we don’t need the NAACP to do this. I call, Chuck D, Afrika Bam, Nas, Cool Herc, Kid Cupri, Redd Alert to fashion icons and break dancing icons to participate in this fixing. Go to work. My top five or 10 best rappers are not born yet. Peace.
The saddest thing about this forum, bruh, is NOBODY reacted to what you wrote. Which also proves your point. They dont care about Hip Hop as an institution, which it has become. None of us old heads who watched and participated in this genre from the giddy up, ever thought it would turn into this juggernaut that it is today (me 1st Fresh Fest tour 1985). Those forfathers that you mentioned have tried, albite sporadically, to organize and bring some credibility to this industry. Hip Hop has transcended from just music, to a life and living guide for some. The closest music industry, Rock doesnt have the same influences in culture as Hip Hop. I work in a predominantly white office. There are Metal Heads here, but, you dont see it as a way of life as you see in Hip Hop. I 100% agree with you, the guidance needs to be put in place. The Hip Hop industry should take responsibility for itself.
Andre 3k is definitely one of the greats without a solo album. He’s constantly mentioned as one of the greats EVEN without a solo album that should tell all you doubters all you need to know.
He’s one of the best not the best.
1. 2pac 2. Biggie 3. Nas 4. Kendrick
5. Scarface 6. Andre 3k 7. School boy q most underrated 8.j cole 9. Big krit
10. 90s ice cube
I know many will knock me for this but why are Too Short and E40 never considered in these conversations?? E40 more than any has earned his spot in the conversation! Over 25 years or more E40 has been a consistent HIP HOP figure! He was one of the 1st with his own Independent Label that is still functioning now! He has put on numerous artist, he has a dictionary for all the slang created that every artist til this day still use, he still drops consistent hits and drops albums regularly. Damn near every year he is on a hit song and can hold his own against ANY RAPPER, period! Whether you a fan or not, his resume is by far one of the most impressive!
Rakim took the game in another direction before anyone and his songs are all timeless. Andre is cool but far from the goat 95 percent of the people listed below on the thread are not. There are so many great artist that are not on the radio that have great albums and much better than Cole, Jay, Nas, Pac, Biggie, E40, short and Kendrick. Kool Keith, Masta Ace, EdoG, Mf Doom still make dope records and songs. Goats are opinions and most people only know a few artist popular artists that game is always changing to be a goat.
Also a flamboyant homosexual.
Is that all you do is hate?
Just tellin it like it is everybody know he gay
Illiteracy is strong within you, young Jedi. Maybe take an English course before throwing shade. Stay in school, Corky.
Corky Thatcher from Life Goes On? Remember the scene where he was dancing to Public Enemy’s hit ‘Fight the Power’? Priceless.
Ignorant statement. Definitely born after 1995.
Big boi better than 3stacks all day everyday

Top 10? Definitely. Not the Greatest of All Time. Outkast as a collective is what makes Andre great IMO.
Real talk. His contrast with Big Boi, and Big Boo’s Beats really helped him shine, and vice versa.
My top 10 in that order. No need for hate this is MY opinion
1. Lupe Fiasco
2. Common
3. GFK
4. MF DOOM
5. Nas
6. Black Thought
7. RZA
8. Rakim
9. Andre
10. Pac

Check out What RZA did on with tang forever.
Dude is a major pillow biter
Slim Shady the greatest of all time. But thats fine.
Big boi better, underrated.

Seriously. KMD was marginal. Let’s be honest. MF Doom improved with time like many rappers
3 Stacks the GOAT? Huh? Smhhhh
I fuck with 3 stacks but dude overrated af closes thing to a solo album he has is the love below. He hasn’t been proven to carry a album by himself without any help from big boi. Can’t be the greatest of all time with ANY solo discography
Have you guys ever heard of this dope mc named tech n9ne? You know the highest selling indie rapper with 10x the catalog as 3k
Nah. Tech is a good lyricist, great even, but he’s so boring and overrated. And his fans are as bad as juggalos. By your standards, Macklemore would be one of the greats, too, and he definitely is not.
Plus he look like a goat (the animal, that is) and is like 50 years old.
The Dave Chappelle of Hip-Hop. When the world wanted him most, he folded under the pressure and disappeared.. Definitely goat, but not G.O.A.T.
I have the up most respect for 3staxx but come on the goat his only solo album wasn’t even a hiphop album hes like an acquired taste pause i cant even put him in the top 20 of all time

Everything after The Eminem Show were (and will be) garbage.

What about DMX then? Two classics in the same year and then topped it off with “And then there was X”.
I only consider DMX’s first album as classic. The next few that followed were solid in terms of content (not sales) but surely not classics.
My nigga skit
We dont give a fuck
Bring your whole crew
Slippin???
Heat
Black out even?
You dont consider this a classic? Number 1 album, critically appraised?
Flesh Of My Flesh album was trash minus maybe 3 songs.
Flesh Of My Flesh album was trash minus maybe 3 songs.
I find this whole video disrespectful. 3 Stacks is king of the features..nothing more. Big Boi has 2 solo albums for god’s sake!

His resume is impressive and he’s a legend in the game. But he doesn’t have 1 album that is a clear classic, IMO.
I can respect that! To me, In a Major Way was a classic but everyone has a right to their opinion! Thanks for the reply
If making a solo album rap is the only thing he has not done, then he should come out with a good one and be the best in ONE LOVE worldwide.
