      1. You people know that mother’s day is at different dates from country to country, right?

Do you know what day mother’s day is on in Bolivia? Nah, didn’t think so, so why the fuck would I know when it is in USA when I’m not from there?

        wow ur an idiot
        lol

      2. that may be tru but it says happy mothers day from hip hop dx under all the songs idiot

    1. This is a beautiful song. At the time when this album was released, I lost my father. I kid you not, I could never listen to this song without tearing up and crying.

The illest line in this song is, “Jesus finally got his bride, Mommy dance with him.” So damn ill.

I remember reading a review for this album and the only thing the writer had to say about this song was that it wasn’t as good as Tupac’s Dear Mama. I don’t believe Nas made this song to compete with Tupac’s song to his mother, he made it because he was dealing with the lost his mother.

    2. the part that got me emotional when i first heard this was those horns at the end…that shit was airy as hell.

    3. this song gets me choked up, i gotta agree w the previous comments. . . towards the end you hear the track crying

    4. I’m not going to lie, it took a while for me to fuck with this one when it came out, but it is beautiful.

    5. classic none of this modern day crap poppy rap / auto tone talentless fuds…. ps distant relative nas & damian marley album of day year easy!!!!

      1. Here we go with the Nas beat selection gtfoh. Dance is a str8 classic and there’s nothing wrong with that beat!

      1. obviously you dont know hip hop…. nas is a legend.. weezy is almost there.. and drake has a looooooooooooooooooong way to go.. church

      2. C’MON DMIZE!!!! u rate Wayne more than Nas! WOW!!! and worse u call Drake a legend. Can u tell me one classic song by Drake? i dont think so

      3. weezy is a bitch. He aint no legend except to 13-17 year old girls that listen to him. He is a mainstream bitch. Nas is a true legend and drake is to new to this shit to even consider him a legend

      4. i don’t think wayne or drake are top 5 or anything.. but what the fuck is up with people that first of all hate on drake and second think wayne is better? i like both but i mean lil wayne stays on subject for two whole lines and then moves on, no wonder he has SUCH great metaphors.. and drakes songs have actual meaning, no all obviously but enough to call him a great rapper. anyways.. ahaha, this is an amazing song.

      5. Drake studies Nas…. Nas bodied the whole Carter 4 album… Nuff said! Oh Utube Drake talking about Nas lyrical abilities and how he’s been studying Nas for the past 10 yrs .

      1. yea.

Nas, Jay Z, Eminem, Andre 3K and a couple others are the living giants, but I’d say Nas is G.O.A.T

      1. Take it from me who is a 80’s baby The God was always my favorite rapper till I heard Nasir back in 91 the song was Halftime. After that I was hooked to Nas like a drug no lie! Nas surpass his big bro a long time ago…. I fell as Nas is like Rakim, Kool G Rap and KRS1 all in one!

    6. I mean all the way 100, I aint no Nas fan like tht, but i had god’s son……….THIS RIGHT HERE is the hardest , deepest, REALEST shit, feel me……..lose ur mom, pop this in and listen 2 this, shit really hits ur heart…..

    7. i have lost neither…but i remember when god’s son came out this and if heaven was a mile away stayed on repeat

      1. Word! Get down and carry the cross as well as the realest nigga alive was and still is on repeat! I’m a Nasattic 4life…

    8. this is one of the greatest songs ever

gives me the chill every time, and ive had this cd since it dropped 8 years ago

    9. damn hard to believe this shit came out 8 years ago, but god’s son was a quality nas album…. made you look was my favorite track on the album but this shit’s tight… keep doin your thing nas real hip hop

      1. Manufactured? His moms passed which is why he did this song you fucking cornball ass faggot. You hated on the Ghost joint too. The world could use one bitch less today so you should walk into oncoming traffic.

      2. thats why this world is so fucked up now…it’s always some hating ass dumb fuck right around the corner…smh @ jason

      3. @ Jason. I hope you get f@#ked in the ass with a broom stick and razor blade for that stupid ass comment.

      4. ‘Manufactured emotion’, yeh of course, Nas rapping about his mother who passed away from breast cancer. You really are a horrible little man.

      5. Chill’ Jason is allowed to have his own opinion but my question to Jayson if ur mom’s was to die and go to heaven u think u can come up with a Betta song like Dance’ let alone ur favorite rapper Dropping a ill track like this? The answer is probably nooooooooooooooooo!

    10. mothers day??? didnt mothers day go past like a month ago??? maybe its different in america but in the UK that shit went past like a month or 2 ago

      1. Ya the same in Ireland i remeber buying a card last year on this day even though mother’s days had passed with months haha

    11. this has gotta be my favourite song on the “gods son” album.

although most of them are fucking sick: get down, made you look, i can, warrior song

      1. I can is a classic…. I played that song to both my kids since they where toddlers! Now they kno the song by heart and if u was to ask my 9yr old boy and my 13 yr old daughter whose the best rapper they will both tell u is Nas..

      1. i can hear it now, game crying and apologizing to dre and em, and saying he down with fifty. game wouldve fuckin killed this song, hes nowhere near nas level

    12. This is such as gay ass song! Well wat else can you expect from the Faggot’s Son Nas! Only Lil B conquer such beats and master them with his knowledgable swag and infinite basedness! Omg! BasedGod! Swag!

    13. I dont see how these uncreative racist bastards steal shit and emulate the people they hate. Go figure.

    14. Man this is real.. Esco one of the greatest in my opinion. You dont ‘listen’ to this song, you ‘feel’ it. Real Mc right there.

PS: ‘igotbitchescuz’ you’re an ignorant punk, stop critizing artists and comparing them to Lil B. Nobody interested in your limited opinion.

      Peace

      1. hahahah this is nas on god’s son that dropped in 04. All you young cats that never heard nas’s past work need to go back and listen to him. smh no wonder why people think drake and diggy are the hardest out.

    15. YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

DRAKES “LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DOWN” ON TAKE CARE KILLS THIS SHIT

16 LETTERS YMCMB OVOXO MMG WTB

      1. Your still seriously mentally handicapped. Sure your momma and daddy are cousins or something? I’d check on it if I were you

      2. @YESSIR YOUR OPINION IS BIASED BECAUSE DRAKE FUCKS YOU IN THE ASS AND YOU LICK WAYNES BALLS SO YOUR POST IS NOT A VALID STATEMENT…TRY AGAIN…LOL

    16. Some of you are complete idiots. Saying nas sounds older and sh!t. This song is old as fuck. smh little dick riders.

      5 stars

    17. Thank you for posting. Had to request this track on all the other Mother’s Day posts. Classic.

      1. Get ur Nas study on. God’s Son was in 02 a yr after Nas annihilated Jayz with Ether.. Streets Diciple was in 04…

    18. This is the kind of raps that separates Nas from the rest of the rappers.. He’s a true artist!

      1. U hate Nas cause ur insecure for ur fav rapper… Meaning if u a Hovito Stan of course u will feel some type of insecurity cause u kno deep down Nas is a better lyrical artist than Jay and that goes for the 50 Stan’s ,Em Stan’s, Dipshit Stan’s, Canada dry Stan’s and Ofcourse whoopi Goldeberg’s son Weezy! Nas is the greatest Mc ever…

      2. co sign that Nas = GOAT from a lyricist view. We all know that Jay has had the biggest impact from a business perspective on Hip Hop than anyone.

    19. One of my favorite Nas tracks. It really pisses me off though every time I hear him say that scientist claim we came from apes. No scientist would ever tell you that. That’s the blind ignorance of religion coming out of him; I hope hes grown since this.

      1. Do my research? Seriously? The theory of evolution states that Apes and Humans have a common ancestor from which we diverged over 200,000 years ago. We did NOT evolve from apes, rather all apes (including humans)evolved from common ancestry.

      2. Jonathan, if you listen he said that scientist claim that we came from apes, but they’re lies though.

      3. @ Johnothon do u just skim through the song? No.1 scientist have been saying this for decades and Nas acknowledge that it’s a LIE! U fuckin dummy..

      4. Holy fuck! You people are dumb as shit! I am an atheist and evolution is true. Religious people are always saying that scientist say “we come from apes.” This is not true, it is a statement perpetrated by the religious to make evolution seem absurd. It is a false statement that they take from a context that they cannot not comprehend. We humans, like many of our other great ape counterparts, came from a common ancestor, but we did not evolve out of apes.

      5. i co-sign with Jonathan, these brain washed religious freaks are as ignorant as a blonde. ‘scientist claim we came from apes’ – thats Nas saying its the scientist who said we come from apes, and then when he says, ‘they lies though’ thats him as Nas contesting the statement by scientist that we came from apes. so Nas is being ignorant as the rest of you with that statement coz scientist claim we share the same ancestor with Bonobo specifically. you religious folks is ignorant for real,,,,ya’ll need to be more open minded

    20. Wow this is deep.. I’m only 16 yrs old and my dad and uncle always saying Nas is the best now I see why… I told my dad that I want The whole Nas collection for my bday and not Down low his music on the Internet but all his actual CD’s….

      1. YOU WASTING A LOT OF MONEY NAS MAD A LOT OF SHITTY ALBUMS LIKE GOD SON JUST GET THE GOOD CD’S SAVE THE REST FOR OVOX CLOTHING AND TRUNKFIT

      2. Wasting my time ??? Nas has more classic albums then any other rapper… Illmatic, IWW, Stillmatic, God’sSon, Lost Tapes… 5 classic album’s! While u at it kid go cop I’Am, Nastradamus, StreetsDiciple, HHID, Untitled, Distant relatives and the Firm album as well as QB Finest…. Study them all! Life is Good about to be his 6th classic Camel Warriors get mad u suckers!

    21. R.I.P Fannie Ann Jones. My moms used to work with Nas’ moms, I remember her being a nice woman when I was a kid

    22. @ yessir I’ve seen Canada Dry on Utube saying he had to study Nas just like Jayz studied Nas back in the early 90’s… Nas fathered a lot of ur favorite rappers u moron…. Like Qtip said Nas is ur favorite rappers favorite rapper! U stupid cornball Nas won’t ever fall on stage braking his leg while performing… Hahaha

    25. How I make my money online using a billion dollar company like Google… For more info visit this site (link is given above)

      1. N A S = G O A T. Sorry PAC lord kno’s I got love for u but the NYC Ringleader is the Greatest!

    26. Nas, the greatest Ever
Just that i find myself hard pressed to Place Him above My Other absolute Favorite-Pac
This song will always be a masterpiece in every sense of the word.

    27. Lord kno’s I love Tupac but even he knew how Nice Nas was just ask the OutLaws… He didn’t call Nas the ringleader of NYC for nothing.. I’ve always said that Nas, Tupac, Biggie & Jayz are the Mount Rushmore of Hiphop and to me personally The youngest one out of the fantastic 4 is the most talented and most skillful out of the 4. I salute u Nas ur the only Mc in the world who went up against Pac, Big & Jay and is still standing! Peace God..

      1. Nas is Top 3 dead or alive, number one is my book though. Nigga is still relevant and hasn’t lost a step lyrically. He did pick some shitty beats on some of his albums, but that the only slight you can give him.He has never been off point lyrically for real !!!

    28. See NAS names, heard hes the best clicks 5 stars dosnt even listen, go and does homework cause kid only 12.

      1. Smart 12 year old kid, knows his hip hop history and does his homework…you don’t see that anymore.

    29. N A S = G O A T. Case closed warriors now get a life disco Jay just announce his retirement again ! Hahaha

      1. Repect the “Carter II” lil wayne vote, but that wayne is Top 20,,, only cuz he chose the wrong career path after that

    30. Artist like Nas are the reason i come too hiphopdx.com… other artist i keep a tab on are Lupe fiasco, common, mos def, talib kweli , Black thought & the roots and many others…im always checking too see if they have new music.

    31. Even though this song is old, it is classic. And anyone dissing it doesn’t deserve to listen to rap music! Straight up and down. Real talk!!

    32. Only Nas or GhostFace could give real Gee’s chills with real songs 4 real people.
      Nas the Legend

      1. legend? bitch u aint heard of oj da juiceman waka flocka flame gucci mane la flare future soulja boy lil b da truth ice t wat the fuck u live under a rock nigga

      2. Stupid^^^Waka Flocka favorite rapper is Nas even his mom and uncle love Nas….. It’s a Queens thing Homie! Nas=Goat..

      1. i know that anonymous poster below you, it was my son, he was mentally retarded and he was murdered last night. It seems premeditiaded by your statement. The police are going to do an investigation on your ip adress to see who you really are. This was a hate crime and i hope you are punished for what you did! i hope you burn in hell!!! My son never did anything to you all he did was state his opinion! Were having his funeral on next Friday and were going to play Oj da Juiceman just like i know he would have wanted

      1. wtf u stupid as fuck go listen to i sell bitch ass nigga nas weak as hell this soft shit real gs bumb bricksquad
        OJ DA JUICEMAN = GOAT

    34. with this and daughters i feel nas coming back to being more in touch with his artist side and less his “rapper” side. people on HHDX wanna give out fives to every song they dont hate tho, or every song with a HipHop great regardless of quality. 4 stars

      1. lmaoo idiot its people like you who listen to soulja boy, listen to the words he’s talking about his mother that isn’t emo go run back to soulja boy his 5 year old would probably fit your vocabulary

      2. Yes i listen to Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Shawty Lo, Rick Ross because Im a real ganster, not an emo, I get money and i got bitches too. i dont care my grammar sucks because my UZIs spit words for ya. Come get at me BITCH

      3. Emo? You retarded… And you listen to horrible ass music.

You got money and bitches and uzi’s, but with your lack of education, you’ll get caught slippin soon.

You may make the best of what you have now, and may slip through the cracks longer than you should, but with that ignorant ass attitude, you are not gonna make it long, and you give us other niggas a bad name.

” Your White Tee Well To Me Looks Like A Nightgown
Make Ya Mama Proud Take That Thing 2 Sizes Down
Then You Look Like The Man that you are, or what you could be
I Could Give A Damn ’bout Your Car But Then That Would Be
If It Was Considered A Classic Before The Drastic Change In Production When Cars Were Metal Instead Of Plastic
        Value ‘

    35. I dont get it, wheres Nicki Minaj or Breezy, this nigga was wack as shit back in the day lol

    36. i hate how all rappers songs are about killing people and snortin rocks then they make a song about suckin there mothers tit.

rap artists are fake as fuck

    37. This was on Nas 2002 album “God Son”. i wonder why this was put on now, but i aint complaining. this track is some touching ish. its dope too.

    38. liked his raspy voice and delivery on this. Beat cruises right along with his tone…cool. that being said…that hook is trash. No wonder why i gave this album away.

    39. HEEELL Y EEEZZZ NIKKKAS

Hit em up – THEY WILL HELP U!!

      1. God’s Son dropped 2002. Dance with my father 2003. Unless that nigga Nas got a time machine or something I highly doubt Nas sampled anything on this song to do with Luther

      1. considering your name, shouldn’t biggie be num1? I mean it is his quote, and Nas is still alive.

    40. It’s that typa music that can put tears in your eyes. RIP Ann Jones, BIG, Pac, Aaliya, Left Eye, Pun, Big L and the rest of fallen solders … we miss ya.

    41. This is one of the heart touching songs ever came out of a man in history.Salute to the g.o.a.t.

      1. Many of the top rapper lists on here are laughable but this one here is respectable. Even tho I ain’t a big fan of 2Pac and Biggie, I still know they were talented artists and should be ranked somewhere near the top, no doubt.

    42. Keep making classic music like this and you’ll forever be remembered as the best of the best.respect

    43. The top 5 lists are pretty tricky because everyone weighs different criteria differently. For example, people like nas, andre 3000, and eminem would be higher on a list that emphasizes technical ability and lyricism, while you might see biggie and pac at the top of a list that emphasizes overall impact, enjoyability, and cultural significance.

Same with jay, he’s really not one of the top 5 or even top 10 rappers of all time from a technical standpoint, but he’s had a huge influence and has completely dominated the game for the past decade…so it’s hard not to include him. There’s also ppl like jadakiss and styles p that aren’t really in the industry and never get heard but are still better than what’s in the mainstream.

It will be interesting to see where kendrick’s career goes after showing such a promising start. It will also be interesting to see how people like 50, kanye, and wayne will be remembered long after they’re gone and how much or little respect they’re given.

    44. you fucking homos! the list goes like this
      1. Lil Wayne
      2. Nicki Minaj
      3. Tyga
      4. Wiz Khalifa
      5. Mac Miller

    45. Play this and then play R.A. the Rugged Man’s “Legends never die ( Daddy’s halo ) and tell me who the better emcee is…

      1. I’m not taking anything away from Nas but I have to disagree. They both possess all the skills required. Nas takes it in the storytelling category but I’d have to give every other aspect of emceeing to R.A. Nas hasn’t put out a classic album in a long time while R.A. just dropped one of my favorite albums in recent memory.

      2. I see the difference in standards. Nas has to drop a classic album for it to be good. But R.A. dropping your favorite album in recent memory is good enough. Even if Nas is not dropping classics each time out, i’d rather roll with him dropping an album every other year as opposed to R.A. dropping once a decade. Nas all day!

      3. Except Nas hasn’t dropped a classic album in 15 years. R.A. has now dropped two in the last 10 years. Where’s your logic on that one?

      4. It’s easy to say R.A. hasn’t released enough albums without realizing that he is an independent artist who never broke into the industry and lacks many of the benfits Nas has from his days on top. There are more great tracks on the last two R.A. albums than all Nas albums released in the same time frame….

      5. Hip-hop is dead was classic, Untitled was near classic, Life is good was one song away from classic…r.a is genius an one of my faves, but go to a nas concert an listen to the catalog an the epicness, then go to an R.A concert an realize his catalog doesnt touch nas

      6. R.A. has two classics?? Wow, I coulda swore his second joint just came out a few weeks ago and it’s already regarded as a classic??? It takes something truly special for an album to be an instant classic and right now I don’t see anyone discussing that album like that, anywhere. That’s the problem with fans today. So quick to jump and call their favorite artists album a classic. The word classic used to mean something, but now I don’t even know.

      7. Yes the album is an instant classic in my eyes and as you may have heard, the truth is in the eye of the beholder. Nas fell off. R.A got better. I didnt say R.A had a better catalog. I said he was the better emcee, and right now, he is, by far.

      8. I respect the hell out of R.A., and he is one of the most overlooked and underrated MC’s ever. However, “Legends Never Die” is a weak sample of a Beyonce song, despite great lyrics and emotional lyricism. Nas made something completely original and did a better job conveying emotion and feelings.

Sorry, it is just hard to get past that poor “Halo” re-interpretation.

      9. Nas has been dropping hot shit for years.

        Life is Good
        Hip Hop is Dead
        God’s Son
        Stillmatic
        Lost Tapes

        Plus some average shit.

        Street’s Disciple
        Untitled
        Distant Relatives

        That’s since 2000 alone.

R.A. has two average ass albums out in 10 years, and you say he’s better than Nas? GTFO.

    46. It’s easy to say R.A. hasn’t released enough albums without realizing that he is an independent artist who never broke into the industry and lacks many of the benfits Nas has from his days on top. There are more great tracks on the last two R.A. albums than all Nas albums released in the same time frame.

    47. It’s easy to say R.A. hasn’t released enough albums without realizing that he is an independent artist who never broke into the industry and lacks many of the benfits Nas has from his days on top. There are more great tracks on the last two R.A. albums than all Nas albums released in the same time frame…

    48. This song was a turning point in Nas’ career. He was always known for storytelling and pure lyricism, but this song took things to a personal level and opened up a new side to Nas.

It is one of my favorite songs regardless of genre because it so raw, emotional and authentic. It also seals Nas’ status as a pure genius and legendary MC. So few artists can make a song like this and touch that chord in the soul.

    49. I love my mother! for ever and ever. I’m glad she’s still with me. Big up for all the single moms! I love you to death

    50. i remember this album was like my 5th ever album a truly emotional song hip hop lacks this sort off thing in todays music truly a beutiful emotional song still gives me goosebumps to this day

      1. 1.Biggie
        2.Nas
        3.Pun
        4.Rakim
        5.Jay Z

and to be honest krs, big daddy kane, ll cool j, jadakiss, Busta and ludacris could be up there on any given day imo

    51. 5 rappers that spit some incredible lyrics when they were in their primes:
      Kool G Rap
      Nas
      Prodigy
      Inspectah Deck
      Canibus

      1. Nas and Deck still have it.

All those other dudes are legends of the fall offs..

I never really liked Canibus ever. Always too weird for me.

    52. Damn. This is deep. Don’t take your mother for granted. You don’t know what you have until its gone. I love you mom!

    53. I fucking hate my moms I hope she’s devolving in a bath tub somewhere with crows pecking at her carcus

      1. it’s funny every time I see someone worshipping another human being like he’s god or something

it just makes me realize how people have such an low esteem of themselves

    54. 1. Kool G Rap
      2. Rakim
      3. Nas
      4. Method Man
      5. Big Pun
      6. Big L

REKS, K-Rino, RA The Rugged man, are also beast. No specific orders tho.

      1. Fuck everyone’s lists but props for mentioning REKS. One of the few newer rappers with any real talent, and slept-on big time.

    55. 1.nas
      2.biggie
      3.big pun
      4.big L
      5. Ghost face killah
      6. raekwon
      7.prodigy from mobb deep

    56. says something about today’s hip hop when the top two hottest tracks came out 11 and 8 years ago.

    57. How can a track from a legend like Nas, especially about his mom, NOT be a prized piece? It’s art. It’s poetry. It’s what hip-hop is all about. Keep it sacred. Respect.

    58. It’s real fucked up that when jay-z came out with takeover nas moms was dying he really had to deal with a lot in that time period.. I’m glad homie bounced back tho I lost my moms too that shit ain’t no joke

      1. Where’s royce da 5’9. Why is nas not 2nd? Eminem is definitely not the top 10. Top 20 at the most

      2. It’s hard to put this in order. But the top 7 all have claim to number 1. So really the top 7 are all the greatest.

Also I’m not hating on eminem. I have q tip at number 26 and I think he’s one of the greatest. Anyone in the top 30 or so are one of the greatest

      3. 2pacs too high, Andre 3000 is too low, and Jadakiss, Mase, & Busta Rhymes shouldnt even be on the list? Especially Mase..

      4. Tupac had a message and stood for something. The same way the Rolling Stones changed peoples attitude towards music, he did the same with messages of ghetto life, gang culture and political oppression.
HE SHOULD BE NUMERO UNO !!!!

Biggie was just a fat out of breathe fuck with no real message or stance….

      5. where the hell is dmx? he is crazy now, but no doubt had one of the best runs in hip hop history and is undoubtedly a top tier lyricist in his prime…which lasted a good 6-7 years.

      6. Biggie is not #1 i CANNOT TAKE A LIST THAT PUTS BIGGIE IN TOP 3 SERIOUS SORRY. WITH THAT SAID MASE IS GARBAGE.

    62. Go back on listen. God’s Son is a great Nas album. Illmatic is great of course, but revisit God’s Son. It did not get the attention it deserved. …. “You will always live through me…. always”

      1. no thats is not the truth cauz when the next dance come out you mit like then you going to be saying all this is the best one

    63. This is one of the most beautiful rap songs dedicated to his mother i have ever heard. Makes me want to go hug my mom and tell her i love her.

    64. my best friend’s aunt makes $78 every hour on the computer . She has been unemployed for 5 months but last month her pay was $12503 just working on the computer for a few hours.

    65. LMAO @ all the clowns yelling “classic” whenever this fool NAS drops a song. Dude could fart on wax and you clowns would still scream classic.

      1. Another example of a 14 year old #Troll

You obviously wouldn’t know what a good song is because your favourite rappers are people like Future, T-Payne, LilWayne Drake and Nicki Manaj. Thats why you think this is average.

    66. Nas Lost. Illmatic isn’t even really that good. people just say its classic for the hell of it.

Its boring and has horrible production.

      1. smh in disgust. Please listen to the album and compare it to your favorite rap albums (i’m guessing G-UNIT). The tape had 9 songs and each one of them are classics. Ask your boi Loyd Banks.

      2. Typical Example of these 15 year old #Trolls. You wouldn’t understand those beats because all you know is the LilWayne Autotune and these new teenage rapper’s beats.

        Stupid

      3. I agree with the original post. Illmatic isn’t really that impressive at all. Nothing sounds original, its sloppy and better beats would have gave it more value.

    67. “Scientists claim we came from apes, but they lies tho”

Nas you make some dope as music but you sure are an idiot.

      1. This might be the most important question of today “Where do we come from?”, I’m sure you’ve heard this before and sorry but saying “evolution” does not offer an explanation. Yes evolution is a real thing and has proven to explain a lot about animals and progression of species over millions of years but as for the current human form, DNA etc nope sorry it does not. If you pay attention to modern scientific discoveries you might be familiar with the proof that modern humans stood amongst neanderthals at the same time in history, hmmm interesting….doesn’t evolution require extreme periods of time (millions of years) for significant structural, metabolic, physical changes to happen? If that is the case which it is according to Darwins theory why were modern humans and cavemen walking around at the same time? Start reading and stop being an ignorant, mindless drone like every other person who says dumb shit like you. Fuck outta here.

      2. He said that was “part of their conversation…”

Do you fools even listen to music or do you just skim through it?

      3. No, your understanding of evolution isn’t entirely correct. Although you can look at it on a gradient-like spectrum, that doesn’t mean when one evolves, all former members of previous specie vanish. In addition to that it doesn’t take that much time for changes to occur. Since the invention of penicillin in 1930, we have produced so many super-bugs that its alarming. That’s only in 84 years… Less than a century. With that being said, I can further elaborate on the co-existence of an organism with its evolved counterpart: Staphylococcus Aureus and Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus — and all it took was 2 years of exposure to that antibiotic for evolved variants to arise in significant populations.

        Hopefully this expands your knowledge.

PS I’m a physician — not an ignorant, mindless drone who hasn’t started reading.

      4. hey buddy, it’s completely possible and logical that modern humans and primates lived in the same time period. one branch of primates could have evolved into modern humans, while other branches evolved to modern primates. besides, there are many branches of early humans. Neanderthals were only one branch. There were many species of advanced primates and early humans that either died off, or evolved in a different way.

    70. “Scientists claim we came from apes but they lies though/ That was part of our conversation”.

It is not revealed if Nas rejects scientific truth, but I think that his mother should have not touched this subject as she was misinformed. But, maybe, the verse could show that his mother, like any other mother, is not perfect. I mean, Nas named Galileo 3 verses back, a man who was able to live aside his personal believes in order to accept and spread scientific truth.

      Other than this, great song…

      1. Why isn’t there an example of a half human, half ape today? evolution is just a theory.

      2. Humans and apes share a common ancestor. It’s like asking “If Canada and the US came from Britain, why is there still Britain around?”

    71. In all honesty, when me and my ma is fighting, I usually turn this or Yeezy’s Hey Mama on immediately afterwards in order to humble myself and apologize shortly after.

    72. All these 14 year old #Trolls in here, must go somewhere else to entertain their boredom.
