      1. its not grammar, its quoting someones bars. write an article about someones lyrics and misquote them? grab a dictionary and look up grammar, once you do that, look up ignorant.

    1. Jay-Z doesn’t make songs with any deep meaning. Come on HHDX, everybody knows Jay-Z is the biggest biter in the history of hip hop.

      1. bullshit..you ain’t really listen to jayz beyond his radio songs….youtube his song….”SOON YOU’LL UNDERSTAND”. are his song..”you must love me”…

    2. Colleck is his nephew, not his cousin. So in Beach Chair and Lost ones; Colleck can’t be his cousin in Beach Chair and then his nephew in Lost Ones. In Welcome to the Jungle, most of those bars are about other rappers.

    3. My flesh, no nigga could test, my soul is possessed
By D’evils in the form of diamonds and Lexuses
The Exorcist, got me doing sticks like “homie
You don’t know me but the whole world owe me, strip!”

      Probably his darkest 4 bars…

      1. Thank you. While it may not be true, it seems like the writer started listening to Jay when he dropped “The Black Album”. “Reasonable Doubt” is filled with insightful and dark lyrics. From the song “Dead Presidents II”:

        “I saw his life slippin’
This is a minor setback, but still in all, we winning.
        Just dream about the getback’
That made him smile, though his eyes said “Pray for me” I’ll do you one better and slay these n*****, faithfully Murder is a tough thing to digest
It’s a slow process, and I ain’t got nothing but time.
I had near brushes, not to mention
Three shots at close range, never touched me, divine intervention.”

How else could those bars and the ones you mentioned be ignored? AND “You Must Love Me”?! No shots, Mitchell, but you gotta go back and re-do this one.

    4. Great lis, but I would have done it differently. Don’t forget about Jay from Vol. 1 to Dynasty. This article’s definition of “morbid” plucked lines from more recent, less heartfelt tracks. The most “morbid”, or should I say (for the sake of clarification) “Realest Jay”, appeared in “This Can’t Be Life”, “Lucky Me”, and “Where Have You Been”…”Soon You’ll Understand” is an honorable mention. That’s an opinion though.
