Is the black balling of Germaine officially over yet? Thought maybe sacrificing himself at the battle or reconciling with LL a few months ago would help.
Guess not, as the majority of the Hip Hop sites are refusing to review the album, despite there being a lot of interest among fans.
While not a perfect album, it has incredible moments, and Canibus is rapping at a very high level and there is some very good production by bronze.
This will probably not get acknowledged and people will continue to act like he isn’t an extremely elite talent.
And I’ll be the first to say this. Despite always being labeled as a bust or underachiever, I believe Canibus has actually overachieved career wise. If you consider that his career has spanned almost 20 years and averages almost a new project every year, has enough guest appearances to make another 10 albums, and has contributed to the advancement of lyricism. Not to mention the creation of the “Infinity” concept and the countless number of new generation lyricist who were influenced by him.
Take away the initial hype and expectations, and I would say that he has had an incredible career.
I would bet that his total output would double the amount of material that everyone at that freestyle roundtable(pun, mos def etc) has put out combined.
Hip Hop in 2015 = the MC who puts in the most time, has the most depth and material, and provides a high level of creativity, gets criticized the most or just blatantly ignored
