Various Artists – The Source Awards

Well, with the various compilations and urban soundtracks that entered the musical mainstream in the year 2000. Its fair to say that it is album is the most complete and diverse in the CD compilation era. The Source Hip Hop Music Awards is conclusive favorite to all genres of hip hop listeners.

The album features the top dogs and new comers in the Hip Hop industry. Artists such as Jigga, DMX, Mos Def and The East Sidaz appearing on 17 piece collection. Even though this compilation is based on record sales and popularity of urban music artists, is a definite winner for the Source Magazine and Def Jam Recordings. This compilation is a true marketing feature for hip hop music to bolster there popularity of there top selling artists and there new stars.

As you can obviously can tell there isn’t really any negative aspects or flaws to this album. This compilation features mainstream hits and phat underground joints. Tracks like Forget About Dre, Back That Thang Up and Ms. Fat Booty are solid cuts that cater to the die hard and occasional listeners. I can really suggest for any music listeners to pick up this mecca of all music compilations.

The only true question mark about the album, would be that they could of managed to enlisted in a few more tracks on the compilation. In addition to that, is that some of the lesser known cuts like Cold Hearted and Wild Out were puzzling addition to the compilation to say at least. However, the diversity and raw appeal of this album is definite trait for consumers who don’t want to purchase various CD that would complete the make up of The Source Compilation.

I would keep this masterpiece in my safe confinements and I would truly think it would be rated in the upper class of music compilations. Not surprisingly, I would give the album 4 1/2 out of 5 records.
