Screw Heads – Forever
And A Day is formal compilation dedicated to the late DJ Scew. This Houston based phenom gained fame and notoriety
primarily for his uncanny mixing style which resulted to slowing and dragging
the pitch level down on his LP’s. This lucrative sound created a new foundation
for the verging circuit of Hip Hop fans in the Dirty South.
Until his untimely death, Screw was
respected through his local fan base to the regional mc’s for systematically
developing this signature Screw
trademark. DJ Screw is overly
recognized for establishing the Southern Rap to mainstream credibility and
engaging more local radio airplay. This quintessentially became a part of his
forthcoming legacy. Although, most of the talent that is featured on this
dedication are not household moneymakers, they evidentially are the crème of
the crop of the Houston scene and the Dirty South area.
Some of the appeal highlights include Lil’
Flip‘s Still Bangin’ Screw, Lil’ Keke‘s Nothing But Love and the reggae infused You Made It Happen by Hawk.
Nevertheless, it becomes obvious that the album is very stagnant and does not
utilize any multifaceted vocals or arrangements.
With the overall cautionary styles and repetitiveness of this release,
limitations and shortcomings are breaking points to the serenading compilation.
Not overly enticing or appealing that it will make you adjust the applicable
radio dial. However, the poignant message overseen through the dedications will
be the marketing formula, that will eventually propel Forever And A Day to a convincing success.
