Eightball & Mjg – Space Age 4 Eva

    Space Age 4 Eva is
the sophomore album featuring the combined efforts of 8 Ball and MJG. The duo has been incredibly successful considering
the demographic targeted by their music. If you’re looking for hard rhymes,
pimpin’ references, and a real gangsta flava, this album may be for you. Problem
is fans of their music may find this effort watered down. This album is
influenced by a space-y flava in production. A little ambient if you can
believe that. Different direction, but does it work?

The Intro does its job of introducing
our hard as nails rappers, but drills the fact that this album is going for
this space flow. Now as forgettable
as some of the tracks are, there are tracks where 8 Ball and MJG return to their roots. Thingz is tightly produced, and the duo’s rapping skills are
    strongly displayed. Buck Bounce is
self-explanatory, but the duo switches up the rhyme scheme. Sounds pretty
southern, but rolls real smooth. DJ
    Quick
lends production on that track and another entitled Jankie. All I can say is HOT! This track
is ill and is probably the main reason to buy the CD. The title track Space Age 4 Eva is pretty weak. The 2
tracks that Swizz Beatz produces are
    definitely Swizz sounding beats, its
just that the duo don’t do them justice. They just don’t lace the tracks the
way anyone from the Ruff Ryder crew
    would.

Overall, this album is disappointing if you’re a fan of 8 Ball and MJG and are looking for their usual hardness. This album
is pretty soft on all fronts, unless of course you live in the suburbs and ride
    your parents SUV.
