Yung Miami has revealed that it was a pro basketball player who helped her recover from losing her ex, Jai Wiggins, who was shot and killed in 2020.

For The Cut  magazine’s April issue, published on Wednesday (April 19), the Miami rapper was adorned with a classic beauty look inspired by the 1960s. During the interview, she discussed how she has dealt with the death of her son’s father.

“I just was depressed. I cried every five minutes,” she explained. “I’d just get in the car and go sit, and I didn’t want anybody to see me crying, so I’d just drive nowhere crying. In the shower crying. Don’t want to do nothing. Don’t want to talk to nobody. Going through memories, going through all of these emotions, and finally feeling like, Why? Just questioning, just a dark place.”

The City Girls rapper revealed that a professional basketball player she was dating at the time helped her cope with the loss, and get out of that “dark place.”

“I started talking to this guy, this basketball player. At the time, I was just so depressed. I was just so out of my mind,” Yung Miami said. “I met somebody new. And he was just something different for me. He just took my mind off of what I was going through. He just came and was level-headed and was there for me.”

Elsewhere in her interview, Yung Miami discussed the status of City Girls’ highly anticipated third studio album. Although she didn’t reveal an exact date, the rapper said the Hip Hop duo will release new music this summer.

“I don’t know, like it is coming, and it will be sometime this summer for real, for real, for real. When you doing a project, it takes time. We’re trying to sit through it and make sure that that’s what we want to put out. It’s gonna hit different,” she said.

Besides discussing new music, Miami also touched on her on-again-off-again relationship with Diddy. The rapper revealed that while she and the Bad Boy mogul had called it quits, they were still “good friends.”

“We’re still good friends! But we’re single. That’s not my man. We had our own situation, I’m not gonna put a title on it. We were fucking with each other hard. We were together every day at one point. He supported me, I supported him. I’ll let the internet call it whatever they want to call it,” Miami said.

Meanwhile, her fellow City Girl JT has demonstrated she has no problem letting the world know how serious she is about Lil Uzi Vert after clapping back at some jokes made about the pair earlier this week.

On Tuesday (April 18), a fan on Twitter showed JT some love by posting her outfit — a black top with a cross-shaped choker — from the 2023 Revolve Festival that took place over the weekend, writing: “She is stunning oh my god.”

One user, however, did not find the outfit as cool, and quote tweeted the post, taking a jab at the City Girls rapper, writing: “Uzi out her dressing like the bride of chuckie.”

JT saw the tweet and snapped back. “It’s really not funny as it was years ago!” she wrote. “Bitchh I had on my outfit for my show get off his dick obsessed asf!!!!”
