Yo Gotti To Headline Juneteenth Unity Weekend

Yo Gotti will be celebrating Juneteenth in a big way next month. On Wednesday (May 25), Dallas Southern Pride announced the Collective Music Group boss will be headlining their 2022 Juneteenth Unity Weekend event.

The rapper will be taking the stage at the Mega Party on Saturday, June 18 for a special performance commemorating the holiday. Texas natives Erica Banks and Yella Beezy will be joining Gotti on stage for the Mega Party while Moneybagg Yo, City Girls, and Saucy Santana will perform at the Juneteenth Unity Festival and Pool Party.

“Juneteenth Unity Weekend is a celebration and representation of the many intersections and beautiful mosaics within the Black community,” said Kirk Myers-Hill, President of Dallas Southern Pride. “The Black community is only as strong as its Black Gay brothers and sisters. Juneteenth is an opportunity to showcase the unity and display the belief that we are all stronger together.”

Over 20,000 people will pack the grounds at the Juneteenth Unity Weekend for the four-day event. Guests will also be treated to health and wellness screenings, COVID-19 vaccinations, and family-based activations on top of all the music concerts expected to go down next month.

Yo Gotti and his Collective Music Group imprint have been seeing a lot of success that may not have happened if Gotti hadn’t taken 50 Cent‘s idea to change the group’s name. The Memphis native revealed the news in his cover story with Billboard.

50 Cent Told Yo Gotti To Change Label Name From Cocaine Muzik Group

“I was having a [phone] conversation with 50 Cent, and he was like, ‘Yo, you’re winning, but you can’t be Cocaine Muzik Group — that’s too harsh. They’re going to be scared of that,'” Gotti said. “[I] thought about it like, ‘Damn, he’s right. What else does CMG mean?’ He put it in my head to start thinking in that direction.”

    1. So… black history month AND Juneteenth. Latinos get cinco de Mayo. Natives get nothing. Pretty cool. I quote MLK. “Ouch. Someone shot me.”

      1. Let the natives take that issues up with the gubment. Why is it every time certain minorities receive something (holiday, beneficial treatment=funding, programs, etc), others act as if that specifically takes away the opportunity for themselves to receive similar benefits (holidays, funding, programs, etc)?

        1. It’s not every time buddy. It’s one group not supporting the others and demanding extra shit when they already have more than larger groups. They also hate other groups (LGBTQ for example). It’s always one “certain” group. The one that cries the most?

          1. There are plenty of black americans that support LGTBQ community lmao (as there are black people who themselves identify as members of said group, that means that some their family members and friends also support them). Can’t let the idiots paint a picture that a whole race overlooks them and their needs. And what is the problem with a holiday giving recognition to “one” groups past? Having more resources than they use to means that the government can’t recognize certain days that matter to said group’s history? You yourself (whatever race and ethnicity you identify as) are stating that theres some sort of issue (could be considered as “crying” itself). Not to mention everyone has been crying pretty much, Asians (rightfully so) called out for a bill that calls out and punishes unnecessary evil acts against them as hate crimes. Mexicans (and Latinos) have issues with the border (causing many of their families in America to be concerned, voicing their opinions). Then there’s white Americans who feel like they’re hated and overlooked for reasons stemming from the past (not to mention certain shit going on today, some idiots committing hateful acts, whether it be physically or verbally). I can’t count how many white people from media (fox talks about this daily), to social media feel like they’re hated, voicing their opinions loudly. They feel a certain way if they see holidays being put in place, or someone receiving benefits via programs to assists them in their lives, labeling these things as “woke” lmao. I myself don’t care for the woke era, because I believe certain people who follow blm (the actual organization) have been lead down a deceitful path. I however won’t complain when people are receiving benefits, or certain actions that are symbolic (holidays in this case). no matter what they identify as.
