Wiz Khalifa’s “Black & Yellow” Reaches Double Platinum Status

It’s fitting, and not coincidental, that Wiz Khalifa’s Steel City anthem “Black & Yellow” has reached its commercial apex in the week leading up to his hometown Steeler’s appearance in Super Bowl XLV. The Pittsburgh emcee’s track is currently sitting at number three and threatening to top the Billboard charts in the week following the big game. This would be quite a feat considering most rappers who have climbed to the top of the charts in the last few years have needed the help of a pop diva.

Even if the track fails to reach #1 Wiz can still take solace in the fact that his single has just been awarded Double Platinum certification for sales in excess of two million units. The Stargate produced track reached the milestone in just under five months. The song is the first single from Wiz’s upcoming album, Rolling Papers, due later this year.

Khalifa took to twitter recently to thank all his fans, known as the “Taylor Gang”, for going out and copping the track.

yo taylors, thank yall for makin black and yellow officially go 2x platinum!!! damn it feels good to be a taylorless than a minute ago via web

    1. i like wiz and alll, but i smell a heavy dose of one hit wonder syndrome hitting him,,,, the masses wont eat up his entire catalog.

    2. Most overrated song of the year. Shit was very average.

This is like when 3-6 Mafia won that Oscar for “It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp.” People who really bumped 3-6 will tell you that was one of their worse songs ever.
I bet Wiz’s true fans will tell you the same thing about this.

      1. i wouldnt even call it average it was shitty they beat was annoying as fuck and lyrically wiz is on the same level as k fed.

      2. If it was so shitty and the beat was so annoying why was it covered and remixed by a whos who of rappers then .. everyone kicked something to the beat, Wiz is doing his thing and is gonna have a huge year.. It was really a song that needed to be lyrically in depth take it for what it is an anthem its supposed to be to the point and catchy. Never take rap or hip hop advice from someone named jack because generally they know jack shit.

      3. its a good song, but its not the best wiz song by far. but honestly the general consensus by most wiz fans is that were happy he made it, and he deserves to be where he is. next comes j.cole and freddie gibbs.

      4. just because everybody and their cousin jumps on a beat doesnt make it any good, it just means they are all followers

look at waynes a milli, that song and beat fucking blows

beamer benz or bentley is another shitty one everyone jumped on

    3. AHHHHHH the fresh smell of player haters in the morning ? 7. I swear all you are just a bunch of fucking haters. Let him shine. It’s not his best song. Of course not. But it’s getting him more recognition than ever. He’s close to being a success. Even if he has to put out garbage singles.

    8. im not gonna lie but im not a big wiz fan. i respect what hes doing and i do think hes alot better than alot off the other rappers out there gucci man drake wacka flocka etc there garbage. wiz is growing on me but hes not amazing great hip hop artist

    9. its not evn close to one of his best, but as a somewhat wiz fan im happy he got to where he is and i feel he deserves it

    10. The first song I ever heard from Wiz Khalifa was one called ‘Mesmerized.’ I saw it on MTV Base Africa and, I totally loved it. The song reminds me of some of that old G-Funk by Dr. Dre and Snoop in that Deathrow era.

I actually really think that, Wiz will do well working on a single with Dr. Dre
