The Weeknd has confirmed that he’s had a hand in producing Mike Dean‘s new album, and he’s also revealed a particularly anticipated track will appear on it.
On Sunday (April 23), despite preparing for the second leg of his After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour, the Canadian crooner took to Twitter to share that he is co-executive producing Dean’s latest project, 4:23.

The producer’s latest album is part of a series he started with 4:20 in 2020, followed by 4:22 in 2021, and Smoke State 42222 in 2022. His next drop is set to be released on April 28, according to The Weeknd’s tweet.
In another series of tweets, the singer quoted a tweet by a Weeknd fan page showing a snippet from an Instagram live where the singer teased an unreleased song. He initially joked about that track not “seeing the light of day,” but then revealed the sought-after track will be on Dean’s new album.

Besides The Weeknd, Dean has produced music for Beyoncé, Chloe Bailey, Drake, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and JAY-Z. His career took off in the 1990s while working as part of Rap-A-Lot Records.
In addition to the aforementioned names, he’s also worked with Scarface, Tha Dogg Pound, Nate Dogg, Tech N9ne, UGK, Outlawz, and 2Pac.

This year is shaping up quite nicely for The Weeknd. A trailer for the singer’s upcoming HBO series, The Idol, was released last week.
The two-minute trailer shows The Weeknd trying to help steer Lily-Rose Depp’s character, Jocelyn, back to superstardom as the “bad girl” of pop music, while simultaneously juggling a brewing romantic relationship.
“Pop music is like the ultimate trojan horse,” Abel (Tedros) says in the clip. “You get people to dance, you get people to sing along.”
The seductive teaser is fittingly built around a rework of Britney Spears’ 2007 anthem “Gimme More” as Mike Dean and BLACKPINK’s Jennie make cameos in the trailer. Look for the show to premiere on HBO on June 4.

The raunchy and already controversial series finds the Toronto megastar playing the role of a self-help guru, club owner and leader of a modern-day cult, who starts dating a pop artist looking to regain her celebrity status (played by Depp).
He’s also revealed plans for a new project titled The Idol Vol. 1, which is slated to be a companion album to the HBO show.
