Watch UMEDA CYPHER Perform ‘UMEDA NIGHT FEVER’19’ & ‘Travolta Custom’ In One Take

Japanese hip hop group UMEDA CYPHER 梅田サイファー took the stage to perform two of their tracks for THE FIRST TAKE FES, a YouTube channel that promotes “raw, one-shot performances from the live stage.”

Eight MCs and two DJs-turntablists got together on stage to perform the upbeat “UMEDA NIGHT FEVER ’19” (prod. peko) and the hard-hitting cut, “Travolta Custom ft. Tefuron Haganeda” (prod. BACHLOGIC).

The group most recently shared their latest album, the 14-trackビッグジャンボジェット (Big Jumbo Jet), which features OSCA, KennyDoes, KOPERU, ILL SWAG GAGA, ふぁんく, たうりん, テークエム, tella, teppei, TAKE-M, OSCA, R-shitei, KBD, ヤス8番, ネピポルノhubよしはる), KZ, and peko. They are currently on tour right now to promote the album.

UMEDA CYPHER was formed in 2007 after Japanese rapper Funk organized a weekly cypher with his friends at the Osaka Umeda Station on Saturday nights, initially participating in friendly battle rap sessions that eventually turned into a full-blown battle tournament. The group generally holds itself open to new members, with no “fixed members or hierarchal relationship” at present.
