Waka Flocka Flame Says He’s Crafting Rap Skills On “Ferrari Boyz”

As one of the biggest new faces in Hip Hop, Waka Flocka Flame has controversially dismissed lyricism. However, during a Ferrari Boyz listening session this past week in Atlanta, Georgia, Waka admitted that he’s trying to improve at his craft.

The August 9 album with Brick Squad 1017 head Gucci Mane was reportedly made in two weeks time. The Warner Brothers Records sensation reveals that despite some months not working together, to pair had no disputes in terms of making the album their fans asked for.

Waka Flocka Flame Speaks About His Skills

HipHopDX: What are you hoping to accomplish with Ferrari Boyz?

Waka Flocka Flame: I’m crafting my Rap skills. [Laughs]

DX: I thought you didn’t care about all that [lyrical content]. [laughs]

Waka Flocka Flame: I don’t care about it. I’m crafting it.

DX: Okay, but what was it that moved in you to make you want to craft your Rap skills?

Waka Flocka Flame: If I’m rapping, I should want to develop a craft and get better right?

DX: So you’re saying you don’t put extra pressure on yourself but you’re crafting as you go along?

    Waka Flocka Flame: Yes! [nods]

DX: Ferrari Boyz was done before Gucci Mane went to jail earlier this year right? How long did it take?

Waka Flocka Flame: Yeah, [it was] done. We did it in probably about a week, two weeks to be exact. We got all our producers in-house… Southside and Lex [Luger].

DX: You and Gucci have totally different styles. You have that energy…

Waka Flocka Flame: Yes. Ferrari Boyz is like my sound.

DX: And Gucci is a lot more laid-back. How did you gel on tracks together? Was there ever a disagreement in the studio on how something should sound?

    Waka Flocka Flame: Never.

DX: Never? How is that possible when you’re two different people?

Waka Flocka Flame: It’s ‘cause we already know each other’s personalities so we can never clash.

DX: How long have you known each other?

Waka Flocka Flame: I’ve known him since I was 19, and I’m 24 now.

      1. YES ,THE MASTERBATING GORILLA I WAS THINKING THAT TOO …WHAT IF WALMART DIDNT ACCEPT HIS APP

    1. The guy who did the interview should be ashamed of himself. Questioning Waka’s skill is just something you don’t do. I mean, you were talking to the GREATEST, MOST SKILLED rapper of all time. Ferrari Boyz = GREATEST ALBUM OF THE DECADE!!!

      1. I was buggin too…. I thought you had to have some skills first in order to craft them, this nigga is a clown

    2. To the person who wrote this article don’t put the words hip hop in it cause this is not hip hop it’s rap. Hip hop is a culture that uses certain beats with scratching and sampling, all hip hop is rap but not all rap is hip hop.

      1. THE MC WILL ALWAYS BEAT THE RAPPER BECAUSE HE REALLY MEANS AND LIVES IT NOT JUST FOR MONEY AND FAME IN STARING THE NISSAN BOYZ…… FORD WAS TAKEN.

      2. Explain how all hip hop isn’t rap, I’m talking about music wise because I know hip hop is a culture and rap isn’t but I’m speaking just about the music part. Sounds like you guys don’t really know what hip hop is.

      3. lol….riiiight..all rap isn’t hip hop, but all hip hop is rap…wtf…lol…. maybe you should actually read what you wrote again to see how much sense you actually made with that statement…

      4. How hard of a concept is this really? Hip hop is a sub section of rap, jesus christ it’s not hard to understand. Just like you got your pop rap (Drake, Lil Wayne) a sub section of rap. Then you also have your sub sections of hip hop like alternative hip hop (A Tribe, De La Soul).

    3. DX: How long have you known each other?

Waka Flocka Flame: I’ve known him since I was 19, and I’m 24 now

      1. As someone whose brother in law is afflicted with cerebral palsy, I feel as if I have to cosign this.

Sadly, I think my brother in law could probably outrap those two idiots.

    11. I hate rappers like him that poisons the youth with his lack of content and reading skills. I thought he was gonna quit rapping well if he changed his mind I will rape his ass-pussy until he leaves. The world is full of murderers, rapists, and ignorant people I will rape every last one of them for justice and peace.

      1. Shut the fuck up! We don’t have time to study C++ programming, Plato philosophy and geopolitics in the trap! Shit is simple, aggressive and bout the money. That’s how the lifestyle is. You wanna rape somebody ignorant….start with yo mama

      2. How about I rape you, you ignorant piece of garbage. Your response shows that you are dumb and deserve to feel a dick in your anus, so don’t cry and beg me to stop when its your fault I’m ramming your ass-pussy. No matter where you come from you don’t have to be ignorant and unable to read. Everyone should know the basics of reading and math you cum dumpster.

    12. He definitely isn’t a lyrical giant but, I fucks with Waka!!! I’m not gonna buy an album unless he steps his game up but down bottom we live that club shit, that trap shit, so I can bump a lot of his music. Still, he has got a lot of crafting to do….A LOT OF CRAFTING!!!!!
