Tyga is no stranger to lawsuits and he’s found himself on the receiving end of another. T-Raw and MSCHF collaborated on a “Wavy Baby” sneaker earlier this year and they’re being sued by Vans for ripping off their signature sneaker silhouette.
The Tyga-designed skate sneaker made its debut release on Monday (April 18) with a retail price of $220 and according to T-Raww himself, the kicks sold out in just 10 minutes.

Prior to the release, a lawsuit was already on their doorstep last week from Vans claiming MSCHF stole elements of their classic Old Skool silhouette.

The colorways are similar but the MSCHF pair uses wavy white lines that resemble more of a reading of someone’s heartbeat on an EKG scan.
According to Hypebeast, the lawsuit claims Tyga/MSCHF committed “trademark infringement, false designation of origin, unfair competition and trademark dilution.”
“MSCHF, in collaboration with [Tyga], has shamelessly marketed the Wavy Baby shoe in a direct effort to confuse consumers, unlawfully siphon sales from Vans, and intentionally damage Vans’ valuable intellectual property rights,” the lawsuit allegedly states. “The Wavy Baby shoe blatantly and unmistakably incorporates Vans’ iconic trademarks and trade dress.”

HighSnobiety spoke to MSCHF who claimed that Vans was “stabbing” them in the back and wanted half of their profits from the collab.

“Vans reached out to settle with us proactively,” MSCHF relayed. “Turns out that they were shaking our hand at the same time they were stabbing us in the back.”
“To have the [Wavy Baby] drop go live [on April 18], they offered specific terms (as recently as 24 hours ago) asking for, among other things, half the profits and also four pairs of shoes for themselves. They also indicated they were willing to meet about future collaborations LMAO.”

This isn’t the first time MSFCH has been involved in a lawsuit with a high-profile apparel titan. The company was sued by Nike last year over their “Satan Shoes” collab with Lil Nas X, which was settled in about a month.
