Turk Admits Hot Boys Reunion Was ‘Tense’: ‘I Got To Give Y’all The Real Rundown’

Turk is opening up about the Hot Boys reunion that went down at Lil Wayne’s annual Lil WeezyAna festival last weekend, admitting that it was “tense” at first – but not due to any ego issues.

Weezy, Juvenile, Turk and B.G. appeared as a full four piece for the first time since 2000 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA on Saturday (November 2).

And in an interview with B High ATL days later, Turk gave some insight on the major moment.

“When I walked in, it was a warm welcome and [Mannie] Fresh and them was getting the DJs and getting the list together,” he said. “We’d had the list prior to it but of course it changed up a little bit. But everything went smooth because we so professional. It’s like man, we been here before.”

He continued: “Then when Wayne came in the room, we got straight to it. Came in, dapped everybody, hugs and it just was straight to the business. And shit, we sung the songs and it was tense. It was tense. I gotta give y’all the real rundown and not on no stuck up shit, but it was just a ‘man we ain’t do this shit in a long time’ type tense.

“Everybody just being extra careful, being respectful to each other and shit because like I said, we haven’t all been in the room with each other. But by the time it got to ‘Back That Azz Up,’ it was the nostalgia and we felt what the fans felt! And it was just – we back.”

The Hot Boys performed multiple hits including “Get Your Roll On,” “I Need a Hot Girl” and “Neighborhood Superstar,” in addition to their solo material. Cash Money founder Birdman and legendary producer Mannie Fresh joined for a few songs as well, including “I Need a Hot Girl” and “Project Bitch.”

A Hot Boys reunion has been teased for almost a year now, but the journey to their Lil WeezyAna performance has been anything but smooth.

In July, B.G. and Turk began feuding after Birdman’s Cash Money reunion set at Essence Festival, during which he brought out B.G., Juvenile and Mannie Fresh but not Turk. (Wayne was there, but performed separately).

After the performance, Gizzle took aim at his former groupmate, saying: “It’s only one n-gga ain’t in this bitch, ya heard me? He brought that on hisself, ya heard me? N-gga did a bunch of ho shit and can’t take it back. He gotta fault his self for not being here.

“I know there’s gonna be a lot of people that’s like, ‘Oh, well, such and such, whoop de whoop.’ The n-gga know what he did last summer. And I’ma just leave it like that.”

Turk hit back by telling B.G. to “sit his muthafucking ass down somewhere” while declaring that he would not be involved in a Hot Boys reunion.

In response, the “Bling Bling” rapper downplayed Turk’s role in Hot Boys, comparing him to Destiny’s Child outcast LeToya Luckett, and claimed that he would not be missed if a reunion were to happen without him.

Despite the tension, Juvenile later weighed in and said he was positive that a Hot Boys reunion would still happen. However, he acknowledged that the group needed to “sit down and have a conversation” to iron out their issues.
