Tupac Shakur is undeniably one of Hip Hop’s bona fide legends, so it’s not surprising ‘Pac memorabilia can fetch a pretty penny.
According to the Heritage Auctions website, the slain rapper’s 1995 prison identification card will go up for auction on July 20-21. Bidding will begin on July 1 at $2,000.
The item’s description reads: “A color photo ID issued for the hip-hop star’s incarceration in 1995. Date of issue: 2/28/95. Signed by Shakur above the ‘Inmate Signature’ line. Measures 2.5″ x 3.5″. In Very Good Minus condition with corner bumping and fading. COA from Heritage Auctions.”
Clinton Correctional Facility issued ‘Pac’s first prison I.D. card two weeks after he was booked on sexual assault charges for which he served nine months. He was required to wear the I.D. card at all times.
While behind bars, ‘Pac wrote his third studio album, Me Against The World, which dropped on March 13, 1995.
Seven months later, former Death Row CEO Suge Knight and record exec Jimmy Iovine paid his $1.4 million bail to secure his release.
In 2017, Tupac’s 1996 H1 Hummer went up on the auction block. It was re-listed at approximately $100,000. The vehicle previously sold for $337,000 in May 2016 to a bidder from Ohio who defaulted on the payments.
