Benny Boom is in negotiations to become the director of the Tupac Shakur biopic, All Eyez On Me, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Boom would replace Carl Franklin, who took over the Morgan Creek film when John Singleton left in April.
Boom has directed two feature films, 2009’s action comedy Next Day Air, which starred Yasiin Bey and Mike Epps, and 2011’s crime thriller S.W.A.T. Firefight.
Boom won “Video Director of the Year” at this year’s BET Hip Hop Awards. He has spent more than a decade directing music videos for various artists including 50 Cent, Nas, Jeezy, Trey Songz, B.o.B, Future and YG.
If the Tupac film doesn’t begin production by the end of the year, the rights to the West Coast rapper’s music will be returned to his mother, Afeni Shakur.
Reports said the film was to begin production this month in the state of Georgia.
In October, production company Emmett Furla Oasis sued Morgan Creek for breach of contract and demanded $10 million.
Tupac was portrayed by Marcc Rose in this summer’s N.W.A. film, Straight Outta Compton.

These mf are gonna F this up… smh I will be so angry…
There really is no need for a 2Pac movie. There are more than enough interviews albums writings an footage out with him speaking on his experiences an observations for himself… May Peace Prevail
We don’t need a movie on 2pac. The Whole World knows about 2pac like they know about Muhammad Ali and Michael Jackson. His Legacy lives on forever
True bt you know they have to retell/remake movies and or stories so the next generation can know and understand things. Kinda like how you hiphop sites sometime post the same exact article you did a year ago or even multiple years.
