Some of Hip Hop’s biggest names led the tributes to Yung Mazi after the rapper was shot and killed outside a restaurant in Atlanta on Sunday night.
According to AJC.com, the shooting happened around 9 p.m. on Sunday (August 6) as the man left the Urban Pie pizza restaurant on Hosea L. Williams Drive, across the road from a police precinct.
While the police have not yet released the victim’s identity, R.I.P. posts dedicated to the Atlanta rapper began to flood social media throughout the night. Yung Mazi was part of Kevin Gates’ BWA crew, however, Gates is still behind bars, so hasn’t had the chance to publicly react to his passing. The police have also revealed that the victim was 31 at the time of death.
Rappers who Yung Mazi had collaborated with such as Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug took to their social media accounts to mourn their friend.
On Twitter, Travis Scott wrote “Rest easy to my bruddda young mazzzziiiiii my brudddaaa. Damnnnn,” and shared an unreleased track he had recorded with Mazi titled “Dinosaurs.”
Yung Mazi had survived being shot more than 10 times over the course of his life. In 2013, he survived being shot in the head in an incident that gave him brain damage and forced him to learn how to speak, read and write all over again, according to his website’s bio.
Mazi tweeted “God made me bulletproof” late last December after he survived another shooting.
As of Monday morning, no one has been arrested in connection with the shooting. AJC.com has reported that the police are seeking a man with dreadlocks who was wearing them pulled back and possibly up in a bun, dressed in a white T-shirt with dark jeans at the time of the shooting.
Well, I guess he’s not bulletproof after all.
Why or he ever said that via video for the entire universe to see including the people who want to kill you is beyond me. He must have or…had I guess…the worst PR team on the face of the planet. That should have been cut off at the pass and if not then deleted as many places as possible via cease and desist letters and big money lawsuit threats so millions of people didn’t see it. Even if you just bought something 15-30 min. Outside of the city in the suburbs and avoided all your old hangouts and stomping grounds, nobody would even know dude. For real. They would probably increase their chance of survival by like 40 percent or more or some shit. It’s crazy. Tack on a better survival rate if you hire full time security that are not gang members but licensed ex military or whatever. Let them be strapped so you dont have to go to Prison forever. None of these guys ever get out and look what happens. He could be alive, happy, in a beautiful 6 some-odd bedroom house or some shit like that, his family safe, comfortable, and happy, going to great schools (his children or maybe even him at night or on the side privately just to better himself if for nothing other than business knowledge so he doesn’t get screwed over in the future on deals, backend, his masters, etc.) and own a solid piece of property that will contribute to health care and retirement in his old age and be worth much more when sold with the types of realtors and advice these guys have access to with that type of money to grow there money and make it work for them not vice versa.
Even if he was only worth 1-2 million while people on his label are worth 20 mil or more, you can turn that into a most amazing life for you and your family, a life most people can only dream of and some people would kill for. As we see here. Very, very sad. RIP
