2017 is set to be another big year for Top Dawg Entertainment, with record label boss Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith suggesting that Kendrick Lamar’s next release will be (another) “album of the year.”
Hip Hop fans have gleaned from the way K. Dot signed off on “The Heart Part 4” that the Compton rapper’s next album will drop on April 7, but Tiffith has confirmed that TDE has much more planned for the remainder of the year.
In a Twitter Q&A on Saturday (April 1), Tiffith took questions on the label’s release schedule. He revealed that SZA’s album “CRTL” is finally set to drop after a long wait, soon to be followed by a new ScHoolboy Q record.
Asked if “CTRL” is set to drop after Kendrick’s next album, Tiffith simply said “yes,” which is pretty vague, but he also clarified that SZA’s album would drop before the next ScHoolboy Q album.
Without throwing around too many details (or any at all, really) Tiffith also confirmed a new Jay Rock album for 2017, saying “yaaaaasss lol” when asked if fans could expect one.
Besides a solid guess on Kendrick’s release date, we don’t know much about TDE’s schedule for the next eight months — but going by their track record and the talent on their roster, it’ll likely be worth the wait.
Only album potentially coming out this year would be kendrick, TDE does this shit every year says they gone release like 5 albums and they always release like one, Personally to me schoolboy and ab are not good at all. SZA is really dope but TDE doesn’t care about her she is on the wrong label, she has the potential to be a international superstar. Jay Rock is extremely dope top 10 rapper in the game to me, but TDE doesn’t care to push him neither for whatever reasons, they never put any real money or push behind anything he does. they love schoolboy q TDE wanted him to be the front man you can tell but people gravitated toward kendrick. TDE has underachieved they will lose Kendrick to Interscope, because when his contract is up with TDE, Interscope is not dealing with TDE anymore. TDE really could have been a classic label like Bad boy, No limit, Cash Money, Ruthless, Death Row, After Math but they failed, He doesn’t even know how to use his superstar to make his non superstars make money. When kendrick tours Jay Rock or Sza or someone from TDE should be opening for him, that’s a good way to get them paid and get exposure. TDE is done in a year or 2 or hope SZA and Jay rock go to another label and get the attention they deserve

Actually last year, they released six: Kendrick (Untitled), ScHoolboy (Blank Face), Ab Soul (DWTW), Lance (Introverted Intuition), Isaiah (Sun’s Tirade), Sir (Her EP). You just sleep.

Jay Rock is such a dope rapper I don’t understand why Q’s, Dot’s and Solo’s projects are given priority to the detriment of Jay Rock’s material.
Don’t get me wrong, I love TDE’s movement but they should be more agressive when it comes to release material and treat each of their artists equally.
By the way Blank Face and the Sun’s Tirade are my favorites of 2016 by far.

So many speculations by fans all over the place. Everybody thinks they can do what Top is doing. The golden era is over, where people would just buy anything on the shelves. Jay rock been had his chance, roc damn near a vet in the game already.
