TDE bossman Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith questions why fans aren’t supporting ScHoolboy Q’s latest single “THat Part” featuring Kanye West, which was released early May.
Top Dawg took to Twitter to voice his frustrations revealing the track only sold 26,000 units in its first week despite the rappers tremendous online following.
“[Who] bought Q single?…,” Top Dawg wrote in a tweet. “we have over 11m followers and his single sold 26k the 1st week. y’all beg 4 it..explain that support 2 me…lmao”
ScHoolboy Q, whose last studio album was released in February of 2014, has 1.68 million Twitter followers by himself.
Top wasn’t trying to hear the excuses including one that a fan gave saying that no one buys music anymore because of streaming.
“[Go] look at the charts.. a lot of ppl buy music,” he continues and adds that fans need to support the records that they keep begging for.
ScHoolboy and Ye filmed the music video for “THat Part” earlier this month in Los Angeles, which is his forthcoming album’s lead single.
Q‘s fourth studio album has reportedly been finished since April. No word on the album’s title or if there is a scheduled release date.

Well if they would release album from Ab-Soul maybe I could get behind them. Control System is one of there crowning achievements and they are sleeping on the dude. I mean Schoolboy Q is ok. He kills the features he be on all the time, but I Oxymoron was just ok, probably my least favorite project from the album in the past 4 years that I’ve heard.

well the reason Q is not getting much support is because we are expecting him to release a lead single that is at the height of “studio’s” success but until then we will keep on waiting , “Groovey Tony”, “That Part” as lead singles to a hyped album well i can say that they are not lyrical they do not contain the “hunger” of a rapper trying to get on his feet, if he could stop repeating everything and put more words into his work then it might be Q’s year again..

As on original top dawg fan, back when Jay rock was the biggest and kendrick was just a hype man, I wouldn’t buy this single because it’s not the rap I listen to. The OG TDE fans want that 90s type rap. Jay rock used to make straight gangster rap. Kendrick used to rap his ass off in a 90s style, with witty bars, but like I said now he doesn’t really show off his oldschool westcoast style. Definitely being newschool. Schoolboy q used to make more lyrical, less gangster rap. It was more groovy and less hardcore. Absoul still has potential if he can make an album as good as control system again. Black hippy album shoulda been made before they got famous, cause it would’ve just been simple “boom bap” hiphop beats, and would have been a way more rap oriented album. Less themes, more flows and rhymes. A new black hippy album will have advanced newschool beats, and newschool flows. Perfect example of black hippy being oldschool was “zip that chop that” .
