Timbaland Says He Dreamed Aaliyah Told Him Tink Is “The One”

With her debut album set to be released at some point in 2015, 19-year old Chicago rapper Tink still has her biggest advocate in super producer Timbaland. Last year Timbo drew attention to Tink by signing her to his Mosley Music Group label and then taking to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to share an unreleased version of Rick Ross and Jay Z’s “Movin Bass” on which she features.

Last night, Timbaland kept up the support as Tink’s hypeman at Fader’s final SXSW showcase of the year. During a performance that started with a deejay set and led to the live premiere of new music from Tink, Timbaland stopped the show to explain why he believes so strongly in his new protege’s potential. Sparked by the debut of a new song that features a sample of Aaliyah’s “One In A Million,” Timbaland told the crowd why he took the unusual step of repurposing music from the Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number star for his new artist.

“I don’t touch Baby Girl’s records—y’all know that’s Aaliyah,” Timbaland said during the show. “I was riding home one day, asleep. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘She’s the one.'”

      1. Well, her style was a mix of hip hop and R&B, and she has collaborated with a good amount of rappers, so…

    1. i always hated ppl like him who say someone who died came and spoke to them in dreams like ur some prophet ..foh

      1. ^ How is Kendrick a fake ass when he never did anything fake like Rick Ross? You don’t know what people’s dreams are since it’s all in their mind.

      2. Kendrick takes a lot from 2pac. Both are wack ass poets and tupac was only known for getting gunned down in vegas for good. If he wasn’t dead, none of you would know him.

      3. ^BTW, there’s a difference between lying and making blasphemous statements (like tupac and Dumbo) and playing a character (like Ross does, kind of like eminem only actually dope instead of wack).

      4. ^ You really are retarded. Both Kendrick and Tupac are not wack and if you think Pac was only known for getting shot, you have no functioning brain cells. Also, Kendrick and Pac never lied or made blasphemous statements and Ross never played any characters (you got it backwards since Ross is wack and Eminem is dope). Hell, Lying and making blasphemous statements is Ross’ entire career.

    2. Timbaland is a genius. Magoo made him thought Timbo how to do music. He needs to link up with Magoo again

    3. Hiphopdx should disable the comment section for good. Nothing but hate, hate, hate on these boards & never any sensible discussion.

    4. Another Female artist with no conscious or nothing real to say in a time when we live in the info age. Timbo AAliyah aint told you nothing…find a real artist that stands for something ..

    5. All of your comments are irrelevant … listen to Tink she sounds like Aaliyah they are both soothing and beautiful . maybe Aaliyah didn’t really speak to him in a dream . but he dreamed this cause his subconscious told him he would make all this money with Tink and look two three years later he was right !!!! dummies :/
