Last week primarily rested in the hands of Game, whose R.E.D. Album leaks dominated the greater whole of the top singles charts. This week, things done changed, but Game still managed to sneak in his Lil Wayne and Tyler, the Creator track “Martians Vs. Goblins” along with a freestyle over Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Niggas In Paris” off Watch the Throne. While Weezy broke through with two singles off Tha Carter IV and Drake’s single off Take Care dropped in at #7, the remaining entries were unexpected.
Newbie Swag Is the Move
Despite Nas taking the top spot with a re-release of “You Don’t Know” and Lloyd Banks coming through with his Araabmuzik-produced “Love Me In the Hood” at #4, rookies ruled the rest of the roost. Kendrick Lamar’s throwback track “Ignorance Is Bliss” arrived at #8. With Section.80 still keeping Hip Hop in a chokehold, older new music still surfaced and KL fans flocked to it. At #9, The Weeknd came through with “The Zone” off his finally released “Thursday” mixtape (listen here ). With a heavy Drake cosign (and a feature on the track), The Weeknd continues his mysterious genre-fusing success. Rounding out the list at #10 is Big K.R.I.T. with “The Big Payback.” With Live From the Underground arriving September 27th, there’s bound to be more K.R.I.T. goodness in the pipeline.
Carter vs. Carter
As Tha Carter IV leaks continue to circulate, the midweek release of “It’s Good” with Drake and Jadakiss hit the #2 spot with a bullet thanks to some side remarks from Lil Wayne against Jay-Z. The controversial (albeit confusing) new track sat above Game’s slapboxing “Martians Vs. Goblins” at #3. The irony in this week’s list is that the top 3 spots on the list are all from artists who had at one time or another taken shots at Jay-Z. What’s beef? Seeing a list of top singles from artists who were all against you, but not having your own songs present on that list. Ouch!

dat’z rite, my nigga! these haterz don’t no!
Its simple, many decades from now when dudes look back at the illest MC that ever made it to Hip Hop’s pinnacle. Nas catalog will outshine them all – here’s why! NAS fuels all of his albuma with the warriors tools of substance that can get you through any battle – not all party hardy and bullshit. NAS brings the full spectrum of conscious thought, warrior mixed in with a little party, which is real as you go through life. A full balance meal makes him the crown chef – king! Sorry Rae…lol
That Banks joint is dope!
