This week was full of surprises. Sure, we got a few typical wins from artists who will always have the people listening. However, with independent rappers showing up, producers who also rap, rappers who also produce, and the triumphant return of an R&B diva, we have a really diverse list this of Top Singles this week. It’s good to have a variety, especially when it shows up in such a mixed bag as this. Sing, rap, produce, whatever – this list is all you.
It’s a New Day For 50 Cent, Alicia Keys, and Dr. Dre, J. Cole Has the Cure
When Alicia Keys dropped her newest single “New Day,” fans were all ears. Then, 50 Cent comes along with his take on the track, and Alicia Keys and Dr. Dre join him. It’s no surprise that song came through at #1. At #2, Hit Boy’s song with Kid Cudi “Old School Caddy.” Hit Boy started out as a rapper, then produced, and now is returning to his rap roots. Another rapper-producer double threat is J. Cole. His cut “The Cure” arrived at #7 this week.
Kendrick Lamar Helps Out Lyn Charles, T.I. Checks In With Chief Keef
West Philly’s Lyn Charles has been making his way around Hip Hop for a good amount of time. With Big K.R.I.T. on his track “The Resurrection Of Hip Hop” and now Kendrick Lamar on the #9 track “Star Life,” it seems like Lyn is really getting some heavy cosigns. Another artist with alot of cosigns is Chief Keef. Keef got T.I. to rock on his track “I Don’t Like” with yet another remix in at #8. There’s no Kanye West on the track this time around.
