Christmas Eve is tomorrow, Hanukkah is well underway, and Kwanzaa is coming right up. That means the holidays are really here, and with them come a few days to sit back and reflect on this past year while locking down plans for 2K12. This will be the last Top Singles List of 2011 (don’t worry, we have a special one coming for 2012). As we break for the holidays, what better way to close out the year than with some new additions to the Top Singles list? Some managed to stick around (Jeezy, Mystikal, etc.) while others hopped on board and were kind of shocking (Justin…Bieber). Pour a cup of eggnog and check out the talent.
Justin Bieber Has Biggie Fever, Fabolous Has a Christmas Delivery
It’s no surprise that Justin Bieber is trying to show his “Hip Hop” side. The teen heart throb pop sensation freestyles (or writes down raps and recites them) whenever he gets an opportunity. It was a little over a year ago that Justin dropped that “Speaking In Tongues” video under the alias “Shawty Mane.” People thought he was kidding, but nope, he’s dead ass serious. He’s so serious that he even has a little fan base popping on the Hip Hop side. This week Biebsy F. Baby topped our list with his freestyle over Biggie’s classic track “Who Shot Ya?” We here at DX got some hate mail for even posting the song, but um, guess what? Lots of people checked it out. So many that it hit #1 with a bullet. Maybe people were curious to watch the Bieber fail, or maybe he’s gaining some respect from the streets. We’ll see about that latter part at a later time. He beats out the fellas of Slaughterhouse by just a little. The whole crew (Joe Budden, Crooked I, Joell Ortiz and Royce da 5’9) showed up at Hot 97 for Funk Flex’s show and dropped off a crew freestyle, which made it to #2 this week. As for #3? Well it comes from the third installment of “There Is No Competition” by Fabolous. He and Meek Mill come together for “You Don’t Know.” The mixtape will be dropping on Christmas Day so be on the lookout for that one.
Wiz Khalifa Heads To California, Nicki Minaj Attacks The Stupid Hoes
Over the past few weeks, Wiz Khalifa has been all over the Top Singles list for his work with Snoop Dogg on the Mac + Dev Go To High School soundtrack (a soundtrack with currently no film to match it). This week, however, Wiz Khalifa’s solo upcoming mixtape “Taylor Allderdice” became more of a reality when he dropped the cut “California” on the internet. Anyone living in an area with changing seasons knows that Winter has just started. Wiz brings some Cali sunshine to warm things up, with of course the usual pot references. The important thing is that even though Mr. Khalifa loves the bud, he doesn’t lose the motivation to make new music. “California” is proof of that, as is the upcoming mixtape. That track hit the #6 spot this week. While Nicki Minaj is gearing to “reload” Pink Friday on Valentine’s Day 2012, she drops off “Stupid Hoe” at #7. The song clearly includes some more shots at Lil Kim, even referring to her as a lab rat. Barbie vs. Barbie is clearly not over. At #8 this week is Pusha T’s freestyle over Common’s “Sweet.” 
We learned that Com is in fact targeting Drake on his cut. However, Pusha T is very vocal about attacking Drake in his as well. Now Drizzy really has something to cry about.
