The Notorious B.I.G. Nominated For Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the class of 2020. As reported by NPR, The Notorious B.I.G. and Whitney Houston are among the 16 artists selected for the honor.

Other nominees include Dave Matthews Band, Pat Benatar, Depeche Mode, The Doobie Brothers, Judas Priest, MC5, Motörhead, Nine Inch Nails, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Todd Rundgren, Soundgarden, T. Rex and Thin Lizzy.

Noticeably absent from the list is LL Cool J who has been nominated for a spot in the Rock Hall five times but never inducted.

To be eligible, artists or bands must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. Biggie dropped his first album Ready To Die in 1994. This marks the first year the late Hip Hop icon is able to receive a nomination.

The 2020 inductees will be announced in January 2020. The induction ceremony is expected to take place at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on May 2, 2020.

    1. Deffo doesn’t deserve a spot, one decent album and a handful of classic songs shouldn’t be enough to get him in. Dude was dope as fuck but his body of work just isn’t there unfortunately.

      1. 1 “decent” album? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahahahahaaaa. Please lay off that Robitussin you clueless youngin Smh. BOTH READY 2 DIE AND LIFE AFTER DEATH WERE ALL TIME CLASSIC ALBUMS. Stick to listening to Kodak Wack because you clearly don’t have a clue what you’re talking about.

        1. @bigthegoat be quiet idiot I’ll stick to listening to Elzhi, Black Thought, Pharaohe Monch, LL, Ice Cube, Jigga, and dozens of others better than Big who I’ve been listening to since before BIGs first song was even conceived.

Idiots like you always try ad hominem fallacious attacks when you can’t formulate one based on the merits.

      2. He had 2 classic albums with one being one of the only good double discs …. then he was murdered by the traitor Diddy … him and pac did more to push hip-hop than anyone you can try and name

      3. GTFOH he got 2 CLASSICS that are BOTH amongst the great hip-hop albums of all time.. one of which is a double album, so he has 3 albums worth of CLASSIC material, where other rappers are lucky to put out ONE classic LP in their entire careers.

      4. The fact that people still discuss him 22 years after his demise and still regard him as one of the greatest to ever touch the mic is proof enough that he deserves to be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

        1. He had 1 fucking solid album and a double album that’s half filler and if he didn’t die associated with Pac he’d be considered as worthy Big L or Pun who also aren’t fucking worthy. BIG isn’t even a Top 50 rapper, he doesn’t even have 20 dope songs.

LL isn’t even in the hall and he literally invented rap styles every rapper since has used, has 10 platinum albums, 5 with zero features, and a career of 30 years.

Big has 2 ok albums and maybe 10 classic songs in his whole catalogue.

Nobody with a body of work that small should be in the discussion, Slick Rick included and he has 2 albums indisuputably better than Bigs catalogue.

      1. This is not a rock hall of fame. Lol. None of those artists nominated make rock n roll music.
You have R&B, rock, folk, rap, country all nominated.

      1. None of those artists on that list make rock n roll music. Rock n roll is now just another term for modern music.

    2. There was no bigger hip hop artist in America then biggie in the mid 90s. Just jimi Hendrix only released 3 albums in short time on this earth biggie was able to release 2 widely agreed classic albums one which was a double album. He also released an album with junior mafia. You also have puff daddy and the family debut album which biggie was heavily featured on. Including features 70 plus songs is a lot of music. He’s a hip hop legend, icon and one of if not the greatest weve seen.

      1. Then why was Will Smith, and Pac selling double what he was? Also sales dont mean shit.

70 songs with less than 10 any none Biggie fan could name.
