Eminem Announces The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Drops Lead Single

Eminem has made a career out of shocking his fans, and not much has changed. On Sunday (August 25) during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, Beats By Dre release a commercial for Eminem’s seventh studio album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2.

On Tuesday (August 26), Em dropped “Berzerk,” the lead single from MMLP 2. The track, produced by Rick Rubin, is a throwback to the Rock-infused Hip Hop of Def Jam’s early days, heard on Beastie Boys and Run-DMC records.

The album is a follow-up to Eminem’s 2000 release, the diamond-certified Marshall Mathers LP. The album was Eminem’s biggests success, making history by selling 1.76 million domestic copies in a week, led by the lead single “The Real Slim Shady.” The project garnered a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, and has been ranked highly on many “greatest album of all time” lists.

Kendrick Lamar Explains “King Of New York Line” In “Control” Verse

Kendrick Lamar turned heads with his verse on Big Sean’s “Control,” song, where he challenged a slew of emcees and claimed himself the King of New York.

In an interview with Los Angeles’ Power 106, Kendrick explained that the King of New York lyric was misinterpreted.

“The irony of that line is that the people that actually understood it and got it was the actual kings of New York,” Kendrick Lamar says. “Me sitting down with them this past week, and them understanding that it’s not about actually being the King of whatever Coast. It’s about leaving a mark as great as Biggie, as great as Pac.”

J. Cole & Diddy Reportedly Fight After MTV Video Music Awards

Reports flooded the Internet that a fight took place between J. Cole and Diddy after the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

The rumored fight reportedly took place at the Jay Z and Diddy VMA after-party in New York’s Dream Hotel. There were even reports that J. Cole was removed from the event after the altercation.
